Discover the most magical spots to pitch your tent or park your rig on your next Lake St. Catherine State Park adventure.
Discover the serene beauty of Lake St. Catherine State Park.
You can come to Lake St. Catherin in Poultney, Vermont for the fly-fishing and the mountain views, but it might just be the fields of wildflowers that capture your heart. The beaches on the lake are sandy so little ones can have their sand castle experience and adults do say “EW!” when going for a dip. In the spring and summer, the forests will be lush green and in the fall, will turn brilliant shades of orange and yellow. It’s a great family spot with all sorts of flotation possibilities--rowboat, canoe, kayak, or pedal boat your way around the lake without having to BYOB (bring your own boat). Rentals are available right on site! Formerly an old quarry town, you’ll still see some rubble and slate mill remains in the area as a reminder of its geologic glory.
The best time to visit Lake St. Catherine State Park is during the summer months, when the weather is warm and all park facilities are open. Spring and fall offer cooler temperatures and fewer crowds, but some amenities may be limited. Winters can be harsh, with many areas inaccessible due to snow.
