Isla Mas Afuera

4 sites · RVs, Tents4 acres · Murrells Inlet, SC
3.5 acre property, last remaining part of old inlet horse farm, with plenty of natural buffers from the few neighbors in our vicinity and between our camp sites, as well as the road. So close to everything the inlet area has to offer. Beaches, tidal inlet with boat ramps, Waccamaw River with boat ramps, restaurants, shops, bars, State Parks, nature preserves, fun attractions and much, much more, all just moments away. We are set up as a “primitive” camping experience, the property is kept very natural, unmanicured for the most part, little to no herbicides or insecticides used here. It’s a work in progress, is difficult for me to tackle chores due to physical disabilities, so some private areas are disorganized at this time. I live here full time, with two cats & 5 chickens whom are all free range. I live here in a double wide by myself, two outdoor cats. Deer, fox, rabbits, hawks and the like are common visitors. This is brand new to me, lots of improvements to be made in the future to make a guests stay even better, so for right now it’s bare bones. Can accommodate tents or certain campers. No pump out, no electricity or running water for “sites” yet, if ever, but running water is here and available for free. Additions to come soon: outdoor shower, available compost toilet available for rent while here, fresh herbs, vegetables, fresh local eggs, firewood, and covered gathering/ cooking area (not built yet) and much more, I’m really excited. Open to idea’s and options. No fireworks/ gunfire allowed at anytime, no “parties”, but gatherings, campfires, games and fun always welcome. I prefer meeting guests apon arrival to answer any questions and help all feel comfortable. I do have medical conditions that may prohibit it at times though.

Star Fall Station

1 site · RV, Tent4 acres · Shallotte, NC
Once a three car garage now converted into a working artists studio, this property is a creative and peaceful home. The owner, a former contractor and artist Martha McKinley Murphy and Shane have changed this into a place where sculpture, art and harmony blend into a haven and retreat enjoyed by many. Someday Lane

1 site · RV3 acres · Ash, NC
My wife and I have been blessed to share our eternal lives with one-another. Many years ago we learned that we cannot wait to "live our lives" when we reach "retirement" so we enjoy each day to the fullest. Some friends couldn't understand when we moved to southeast NC without any PLAN for our future. We are just happy to be alive each and every day that we are here. We made "someday" into "today" and we are happy to share the experience with you Learn more about this land: We are located in southeast NC, approximately 15-20 miles from area beaches. Our location is very "country" with lots of wildlife (deer, fox, rabbits, birds, etc...) roaming about. It is very quiet in the evenings and overnight. The campsite has a large paver stone patio and picnic table. We have a fire pit and when able we would be happy to host a night around the fire. We are pet friendly but request that dogs be on a leash or tie-out. We expect guests to pickup pet "litter". Campers are encouraged to use the swing and chairs set back under the pines. Also campers will find a guest book in the little library under the pine tree with a concrete bench nearby (you drive around in as you pull into the campsite). The book contains our WiFi password (service not guaranteed). Please leave us a note about your stay.

The best camping near Huntington Beach State Park guide

Overview

About

One of South Carolina’s most popular beach destinations, beach bums and nature nuts alike can find loads of entertainment and leisure here. Aside from sublime bird watching outlooks and serene walks along the park’s foremost beach, The Grand Strand, outdoor lovers can also hit-up the nature center and education center to learn more about the area’s native flora and fauna.
As one of the most recognizable landmarks in the state, the vast, postcard-esque sands offer sea-breeze camping, nestled inside public campgrounds, and great surfing destinations up and down the coast. And speaking of camping, nearly 200 campsites populate the picturesque landscape, with more than half offering full hook-up services for RVs. After you’ve hooked-up the RV and/or pitched a tent, trudge along the area’s miles of hiking trails, most of which comb through the area’s 2,500-acre freshwater lagoon and shoreline itself.

Fancy yourself a die-hard art fan? Pay a visit in September for the annual, three-day Atalaya Festival. Atalaya is the former home of Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington. The Moorish-style winter home and sculpture studio was built during the Great Depression by the New York philanthropists and hosts over 100 artists and their work during the weekend of the festival. Camping...with crafts, to boot!

Winter’s are a bit icy and cold, so plan to visit around the spring and summer months.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book early, especially if you plan to visit during peak season from March through September.
  • Consider weekday camping to increase your chances of securing a spot.
  • Keep an eye on the park's website for any updates on availability and potential closures.
  • Explore nearby camping options as an alternative if the park is fully booked.

When to go

The best time to visit Huntington Beach State Park is during the off-peak months, from October to February, to avoid the frequent park closures due to high demand. The park is open daily from 6am to 6pm, with extended hours until 10pm during Daylight Saving Time.

Know before you go

  • Check the park's advisory for updates on temporary closures, especially on weekends and holidays.
  • Arrive outside peak hours, between 10am and 2pm, to ensure parking availability.
  • Remember that dogs must be leashed and are only allowed on the south end of the beach.
  • Atalaya Castle may be closed during large events; contact the park office for current information.
  • Take advantage of the available wifi and EV charging station during your visit.
