The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October (say 'hi' to Jim). In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be.

Had a blast camping at Thomas’ place! He was super communicative, informative and made the experience great with his suggestions and help. The campsite was awesome and we loved being right next to the river. Thanks Thomas :)

Such a lovely site!
Such a lovely site. Everything you need is provided and you can sit by the river or on the porch and watch people float by. We loved it. Amenities were great. The only thing missing was the sun shower, but it may not have been the season. We’d definitely recommend and return!

The guys get away...
We had the tent area.. Was a nice spot got to see the deers walking by ... The beach was just cross the road.... the little beach house by water are very nice ... The site was ready and clean .... Thank you Thomas E .... For everything we had a great time ...

Book this trip!!
If you are looking at this review wondering whether you should book this trip - DO IT!! This must be one of the best spots I have ever camped. The setting is stunning, the sites are well-equipped, and you will be looked after very well by your host. This trip was some of our group's first time ever camping, and they are now converts. We didn't want to leave! Enjoy.

The Lagoon
Perfect, rainproof by the river
This is a very nice spot! It is private. You can see the other campers down the road from you but you barely hear them at all throughout the night. The site is also rain proof. You can hang out under the shelter to have dinner, and then go into your bedroom shelter if the rain is really bad. The firepit and close access to the water was extra special as well. We saw several bald eagles and a handful of rafters / tubers.
