Hussey Mountain Tree Farm

7 sites · RVs, Tents87 acres · Farmington, NH
ATFS Certified Tree Farm Est. 2004 Camp with your group at our private Tree Farm / Conservation / Recreation Area. Established in 2004, we are an 87 acre ATFS certified Tree Farm located in the Blue Hills Range in the Foothills to NH’s White Mountains. Choose from one of four unique sites / outdoor spaces to best fit your camping needs; book a combination to reserve a section of the mountain, or book all four sites for total privacy or for events. Our Farm spans the northerly side of Hussey Mountain from the base to the summit. Guests are provided with private access to several miles of multi-use nature trails, multiple scenic lookouts, a three acre PYO blueberry maze, and a dock on our private eight acre pond with available boat rentals. At the 2WD shared parking area guests are provided with a outdoor shower with hot and cold water, a portable toilet, garden hose for washing, a power strip for charging devices, and a spigot with potable water for filling containers. Over two decades ago we created our first campsite for the purpose of hosting family and friends. Folks enjoyed camping on the mountain so much they often would choose our farm over traditional campgrounds. Hosting campers became a regular weekend event, and to accommodate more people we created three more sites spread out across the property. In 2020, we came across the Hipcamp app and started offering private reservations to the public. Since, we have been hosting campers on a daily basis and continuously improving our sites / infrastructure / views. We’re excited to see what the next two decades hold; come join us on the mountain! Things to do on the mountain SPRING-FALL include... Hiking on several miles of maintained nature trails marked with clear signage for easy day/night navigation. Relaxing/taking in the scenery from several scenic lookouts located on and around the mountain’s summit; combined they provide a 360-degree view spanning from the NH/ME Seacoast to the White Mountains of NH, to the Green Mountains of VT. Fishing, paddling, swimming, or relaxing on our dock. Bird/wildlife watching, berry picking, stargazing and leaf peeping. This is a place you can easily spend a few days and keep busy! That said, if you’re looking to venture off-mountain and explore we’re in a great area to do that. We’re located only 7 minutes off Exit 14, NH Route 16 N. Places to visit nearby include... Baxter lake (public access) 5 minutes south. Portsmouth 25 minutes south. Lake Winnipesaukee 20 minutes north. Gunstock mountain resort 25 minutes north. NH’s White Mountains 40 minutes north. Conway 1 hour north. Things to do on the mountain in WINTER include... With snow, our unique network of forestry trails and glades are transformed into downhill ski/snowboard runs, snowshoe routes, and snowmobile trails. Site 1 Base Camp becomes ski-in, ski-out and is our only available site during ski season.

Souhegan Shores

2 sites · RVs, Tents21 acres · Merrimack, NH
Last week of February Update: WE'VE GOT A RESIDENT OTTER!!! So cool. After a fresh fall of snow you can see their tracks across the ice going from one open patch of water to the next, with occasional belly slides. (check out photo annotated with blue slide arrows) Roads to the sites are plowed and passable to a four wheel drive vehicle. Conditions can change with a thaw or more snow, so check ahead with your host. Getting in is always the easier part, but confirm your vehicle won't have difficulty getting back up the slight rise to exit the sites. (back to our regularly scheduled campsite description...) Site-1 is located under the trees adjacent to a 3 acre meadow and Christmas Tree farm. Camp near the bank of the Souhegan River in the shade of white pine, shag bark hickory and blue birch while listening to the river tumble over the ledges upstream. In season, enjoy the chest deep swimming hole 100 feet from your campsite. On the other side of the privacy fence is a pasture where two horses graze. If you don't like friendly dogs then you'll be better off on site 2 where we have a better chance of keeping our dog Wilson from dropping in to visit. He loves people too much not to want to greet folks on Site 1. Site-2 is located at the farthest most downstream end of the property and from mid-May to mid-October it is totally screened by foliage. From your site you only see trees and the river. If you don't like other dogs, this is the site you want. Still no guarantee Wilson won't visit, but it's easier to keep Wilson away from this corner of the property. The other side of the river is town conservation land so the only people you're likely to see will be passing by in kayaks or on paddleboards. In dry season, both sites are a great place to start a float trip and you'll likely have the next 1.5 miles all to yourself since rapids up stream become impassable in July and August. If planning a winter trip, check ahead to ensure Bob has cleared the access roads. If southern NH gets clobbered with snow, check about the possibility of constructing snow shelters. Bob's been known to mound up snow with the tractor. You are only two traffic lights away from the Merrimack Premium Outlet Mall if you need something to do during inclement weather.

Dreamy field Wilton

2 sites · RVs, Tents19 acres · Wilton, NH
Welcome to my dream property! I used to come here as a child and a year ago my animals and I picked up the keys to this glorious land. I’m constantly enhancing the property. Come check it out! Plenty of options to set up anywhere in the field and you’ll only share the field with one other campsite! You’re welcome to use a hose by the house for your basic camping needs. I’m new to this. Let’s work together. There is light traffic along the main road(hill), with people commuting to work or the occasional tractor but plenty of space to roam, hike, and explore around. Wilton is a great location to explore neighboring towns as well, drivable to Temple mountain/pack monadnock, mount monadnock, and Pat's peak/crotched mountain ski resort. This is pack in pack out. My animals and I live here so there are people in and out during the day. The farmer Walt is here most summer mornings/afternoons working on his vegetable garden. I communicate quickly, if you need anything just reach out. As one person already found out, yes there are bugs here and no I won’t treat for them with pesticides. The yard by the fire pit is treated with essential oils though! You’re welcome to use it! Fire Marshall wont let me put a pit out the field! Sorry! This in NOT a place for glampers(yet. Maybe some day!) happy hip camping!

Sunset Hill Orchard

5 sites · Tents25 acres · Goffstown, NH
Sunset Hill Orchard was operated as a family-managed fully operating Apple Orchard from the 1940s until 2000. The Orchard still has hundreds of apple trees and in the transition to the next generation, hosted events for many years. We have a beautifully manicured clearing with a fire pit and the second largest ash Tree in the state of NH; The New Hampshire Big Tree County Champion for Hillsboro County. We decided to shift our offering to a more community-oriented and environment-friendly area. Sunset Hill Orchard sits atop a hill with views of local hiking areas like the Uncanookic Mountains and on a clear winter day Pats Peak. We would like a tent(s) set up to find ideal spots around the manicured grass around the ash tree to maintain the area. Just like wilderness adventures, there could be poison ivy, sumac, and other uncomfortable part of nature, please always use caution.

3 sites · Tents10 acres · Beverly, MA
Bakers Island Light Station is located on Bakers Island in Salem Sound, a 60-acre island with a large summer colony. The lighthouse stands at 59 feet tall and continues to guide ships in and out of Salem Harbor with an alternating 20-second white-red light. The 10-acre light station, which includes six historic structures such as two keepers houses, an oil house, and a lantern room (now operating as a gift shop), is located in the northwest quadrant of the island and was formally owned and operated by the US Coast Guard. The best camping near Hampton Beach State Park guide

Overview

About

Perched on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, Hampton Beach State Park provides year-round adventure. Activities on offer include swimming, fishing, and boating, as well as simply unwinding on the sandy shore. Hampton Beach State Park Campground is the only RV park directly on the New Hampshire coast and has 28 RV sites with hookups for water, sewer and electricity (RVs must be self-contained; tents and pop-ups are not permitted). The park is small enough that the campground is within walking distance of all the attractions.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Bookings can easily be secured online or by phone.
  2. Same-day bookings are possible, and bookings may be made up to 11 months in advance.
  3. As Hampton Beach is a popular destination with few sites, booking in advance is highly recommended, especially during the summer and on weekends year-round.

When to go

Hampton Beach State Park is open year-round but  the campground only opens from early May to the end of October. Summer is the busiest time in the park, with many guests lured by the sandy beach and warm(er) water. Spring through early fall also offers the chance to see migrating whales. Winter has its own appeal as storm-watchers can marvel at the power of the ocean as waves crash onto shore.

Know before you go

  • Day users can make a reservation before arriving at the park as parking is limited (particularly on sunny weekends and holidays). Fees are doubled for RVs.
  • Pets are not allowed on the beach from May 1 to September 30. Outside those dates, they are welcome but must be kept on a leash.
  • A park store is located in the day-use area. Restaurants and other services are offered along Rt. 1A, just a short walk north.
