There are trails into the neighbouring properties (however some are a bit wild and overgrown). We're close to many things such as the Skybridge, the Wolf Sanctuary, the beautiful rivers and waterfalls down in the Blaeberry, the lakes around the area and up the ski hill. There is lots of whitewater rafting, mountain biking and paragliding in the summer. In the winter it's an amazing backcountry skiing area or go up the Kicking Horse Mountain resort. Our site is private and secluded. Further down the road is our house where we are doing lots of building and construction so mind the mess if you do go for a wander.

Backcountry campsites are also available with a permit. Near the park’s western entrance, the Hemlock Grove boardwalk trail encircles towering trees located in an interior rainforest.

Cyclists like to visit before the road opens so they can bike the road without traffic. September through early October, when the trees change colors and trails are a bit quieter, is a great time to visit. Apgar Campground is the only campground that remains open in winter.

Using the park shuttle is a great way to avoid dealing with parking at popular trailheads. Plus, vehicles longer than 21 feet are prohibited between Avalanche Campground and the Rising Sun Picnic Area on Going-to-the-Sun Road.
