Discover the most magical spots to pitch your tent or park your rig on your next Stockton State Park adventure.
Sail away on this serene lake in the Ozarks hills of southwest Missouri.
Stockton State Park is one of mid-America’s best sailing lakes. Set sail for your own cruise on these clear Missouri waters—or just enjoy the relaxing views of the boats floating by, with the green hills of the Ozark Mountains along the horizon. While this park is enjoyable year round, summer brings the full menu of activities, including boating, paddling, fishing, swimming, and scuba diving. Five trails for hiking and mountain biking offer lake views. A fully stocked marina offers watercraft rentals or you can bring your own and depart from one of the park’s boat launches. RV and tent campsites, as well as cabin rentals, are available.
Summer is the busy season, as lake activities abound under the full sun. Expect high temperatures topping 90°F, with high humidity. The lake waters are refreshing. Spring and fall are cooler, with less activity in the water, though boating is possible through much of the year. Fall is a popular camping time in the Ozarks, due to the pleasant weather and the colorful leaves filling the hills. If camping during the winter, come prepared for potential freezing temperatures and occasional snows.
