The campsite offers a tranquil escape with its secluded spots by the river and among the trees, perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat. Guests appreciate the privacy and the opportunity to enjoy nature, with highlights including swimming, fishing, and the presence of wildlife like herons and owls. Hosts Dave and Ann are frequently praised for their warm hospitality and assistance, enhancing the overall experience. However, a couple of reviews mention the absence of water and electricity hookups, which might require some additional planning for campers.
Loved this spot! So peaceful by the river and among the trees. Slept really well. Really nice to have all the space to have the dogs off leash too. Would definitely return!
This place was amazing! Dave and Ann were the best hosts! We were able to tent up on a platform above the ground. In this November weather, me and some of the boys took a cold plunge in the creek just for the fun of it and boy was it refreshing. Also in the creek were small minnows and craw-dads. One of the farm dogs decided we were his new friends and ended up sleeping at our feet. The fire pit was amazing and this lot provided tons of options for places to burn! The string lights added the perfect touch without being too much. Managing a 9 person group isn’t easy, but this place was perfect for our campout! 10/10 recommend, David and Ann were amazing!
This place was absolutely beautiful. The campsite is nestled right along the bend of the river and there’s a rock bed making it all easy to get to and enjoy. There’s a covered picnic table and grill that is nice for all weather, and the host was kind enough to leave firewood for my arrival. Getting there is slightly tricky with the maps - it takes you to the base of a driveway but where you will be turning is into the field you see across the road, not into the drives. It’s tucked towards the back of the field, you just drive a worn path to get there. The host instructed me over phone how to make it in and was very helpful and responsive. This is such a nice little gem of a spot and the water is so peaceful. I would definitely come back to this spot. It’s perfect for a large group or just solo. Also very private - I didn’t even see another campsite and my dog had the freedom to roam as much as she wanted, she loved it here. The town of Mount Vernon nearby made it convenient as well, there’s a Walmart just 10 minutes or so north of you. I recommend the Keen Bean if you’re a coffee person, it’s located right as you get into town. I will certainly be revisiting someday.
Absolute gem of a place. Camp site was perfectly situated and well maintained. Dave was so great, super friendly and welcoming. Brought us firewood as needed and showed us around the farm. Will definitely be back!!
