Helios House at FarmWise LLC

1 site · Lodging35 acres · Elkhorn, WI
Staying in this 30ft. wide yurt is a cosmic experience. We call it the Helios House since the 10 windows and 2 doors makes us follow the sun's path during the day. The view from the elevated yurt is the rolling hills and the all organic meadows with grazing animals. It has porta-potty and a water spiggett right outside, showers and normal toilet in the old farmhouse's basement where there also is a laundry room for the guests' use. There is a fire pit and also a pizza oven outside. with picnic benches under a shelter. FarmWise is a place where kids have come for more than 25 years to have summer camp experiences, homeschool programs, class trips to get to know where food comes from and what it takes to make the food arrive at their table. Now there is both an AirBnB here besides this large yurt that we feature here. There are sheep, a cow, pigs and chickens here and many cats and kittens, (kids' favorites!) besides the farm dog, of course. All visitors can come and join the chores in the morning which involves milking a cow or maybe a sheep. The man of the house is an organic corn breeder so often there is a crew of folks that work here on various corn fields or other related activities. Seasonal farm activities, like hay wagons needing unloading in the barn in the summer, manure removal in the fall could be happening as well as deer-hunters coming in the wintertime. If visitors want to dig in with something, there usually is seasonal activities, for example fruit picking. The yurt can house many people so there are plenty of extra mattresses there. The temperature in the yurt is always perfect since we have a heat pump there. An electric cookstove as well as a fridge. It truly is the ultimate earthly and celestial glamping experience!
