Welcome to Rainier Roadside RV, the ideal base camp for visiting Mt. Rainier! The closest RV site to Rainier's Nisqually entrance and a two minute drive to the gate! Beat the morning rush and be first into the park.
Site amenities include a covered pavilion for afternoon picnics, a central fire pit area, electrical connections, and trash bin.
This desirable location is both close to the entrance but also the road. During the busy season the line for the Nisqually entrance can back up over three miles long. This campsite is close to the park and less than a mile to the gate. This mean a couple things: You can be the first in line in the mornings, but traffic also backs up past the campsite starting around 8 am (see picture of road proximity from Google Earth for reference). The road traffic dies down in the evenings, as visitors tend to leave the park before dark.
When you're not in the park check out the local sites including The Elbe Outdoor Shooting Range, Nisqually River (387th Ave Ct E), Ice cream at Elbe Junction or the Wildberry Restaurant across the street, just a stroll away!

Our rental property was once a mini Rail Road with full size locomotive's, train cars, pumper cars and more. My dad & grandpa layed all the tracks & put together the buildings in the 1970's. Once done my grandma sold tickets to the tourist and my grandpa ran the engine around the 7 acre oval track pulling a train car full of happy tourist through the woods over the train bridge and past the big water tower back to their vehicles so they could finish their journies with a drive to Mt. Rainier. There is a lot of history on this property for our family and we hope by sharing it with others they will be able to experience some fun here as well.

We are now in the process of revamping some of the camping areas to allow for a better camping experience. We have created some new sites and have changed the capacity of others. Many names have changed, so be sure to read the descriptions. The names on the 2023 reviews may be off as well, since we changed some names and moved things around. We are also now have a website: CowlitzRiverRentals.com It is online with basic info. We will be adding more site information soon.
Within the site listings here on Hipcamp, I will clearly notate if a site is brand new, or if it has a name/location change for 2024.
We had to adjust our check-in/check-out to noon. You are welcome to come to the property early, and stay on the property until early evening to enjoy the river....there are plenty of places to park before you check-in or after you check-out. This is only valid for the days that you are booked.
We will have a spigot with potable water available at the gate area. There will be plenty of porta potties spread throughout the property. These are cleaned weekly.
This year we will have an option to pack out your own garbage or use our dumpster for $10/bag.
Our 2024 season will have 10 Group sites and 15 Individual sites on 70 acres.

We offer some of the most beautiful scenery in western Washington. Here you will find the peaceful quiet of being "away from it all", yet in reality you are only a little over a mile from the local grocery store, restaurants, and gas stations along Hwy 12 in Randle.
Randle is a gateway to many other outdoor areas and activities including Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, and Mt. St. Helens. We have a private entry from the highway, so you can feel safe leaving your camp set up while you take day excursions.
We have sites scattered across 70 acres. Your perfect camping site may be found in the fields, in the shade of the trees, by the river, in view of Mt. Adams, or a combination of these. You can be assured plenty of space for privacy and quiet, even if other campers are in the vicinity.
We currently host newly developed, private river access, camp areas on the upper Cowlitz River. Many of the sites may have a lot of dirt rather than grass. This dirt turns to dust in dry weather. We are hoping to have most of them seeded with grass, but we will see how that goes (grows).
This has been a cattle grazing pasture for the past 100 years. It is also flood plain, so we get a fresh covering of river silt almost every year. This also turns to a fine powdery dust in dry weather. However, many say that the river access, the surrounding beauty, and the privacy, far outweigh the inconvenience of any dust.
The property has a TWO MILE perimeter.....there is plenty of room!
We have 25 site locations strategically spread across this large acreage, each with its own "personality" and benefits. All campers have the ability to access the river at any of the four beaches. One of the most common comments from our campers is that they cannot believe how much space is between campsites. This year, almost all of the sites have a view of the river.
We make an effort to maintain site privacy and a peaceful atmosphere. We value being in the outdoors, with the feeling of "getting away", without having the rules, restrictions, and the crowded conditions found in typical campground areas.... we figure you do too. We just ask that you respect other campers, especially concerning campsite noise levels at night.
Campers can "float the loop" which consists of launching on the upriver side of the peninsula, floating/kayaking around to the downriver side, getting out and walking across the field to launch again.
PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION FOR EACH SITE to find out what type of vehicle it can handle. We have pictures for many, but we will be working through the winter and spring to develop others.
The only Hipcamp site location pinpoint will be for the access road at the highway. Please look at the picture of our site map to see where your site is located. We have to do this because people have not been reading the directions given, and our neighbors have given negative feedback about strangers driving into their yards.
New pics will be added as we get them. Please feel free to ask questions about any site.
Most areas can be accessed with 2wd vehicles, although certain areas may be a little rough for something with low clearance. Some sites are more friendly to larger trailers than others. Please read the descriptions and ask questions if you are unsure.
We have four separate riverbars, some with sandy beach areas. There is plenty of river space for all. Ask us about river floating and kayak options.
Let us know if you have a special group event. We are very flexible and can help you create the situation that would suit your group the best.
Pets are welcome, but be aware that coyotes, bobcat, and cougar have been sited in the valley. There are also eagles and hawks to be aware of for smaller animals.
Feel free to reach out with questions before booking to make sure all of your needs can be accommodated.
Things to be considered: Need for campfire wood, need for water, types of vehicles, your camping goal (group get together or total solitude with peace and quiet), quick easy access to the main road or camping way off the path, best pet areas, best kid friendly areas, ect.

The Hideout

"Osborne's Den" (tiny A-Frame Cabin) and "The Moose Site" (a full hook up RV/Camp site) both nestled on this quaint 1/2 acre lot (they rent separately... not together). Just minutes from Mt. Rainier National Park.
"Osborne's Den" has basic power inside the building and a water spigot just outside. There is a queen sized bed (you bring your own bedding).
There is a shared Honeybucket Toilet just across the driveway. You will see the other details in the "site listing"
"The Moose" is a level, graveled RV/Camping site. Water and 30 AMP and 20 AMP power and sewer connection.
The shared/communal firepit/stargazing area is perfect for relaxing. Short 10 minute walk/hike down to the Nisqually River. Restaurants/shops/coffee/stores 1 mile away!

Welcome to Dean’s! Eight minutes off Highway 18 lies 11 acres of mostly undeveloped land. Dean's is a beautiful, bare-bones place to rest between national parks, before or after crossing the US / CA border, or to set up base camp to explore Seattle / Tacoma.
Our location is convenient. We are just minutes from Auburn city limits. Road noise, planes, Pacific Raceways, and freight trains are audible here even if muffled by the trees. In order to provide safety and peace, hosts live just outside the campground and closely manage happenings. All our sites have 2-4 persons occupancy in hopes of deterring parties. Our quiet hours are 8pm-8am so we can rest up for the next day’s adventures. We ban fires during the peak of summer to avoid the issue of wildfires entirely. Propane stoves are welcome. We do not have a check in cut-off time tho reservations do need to be made before midnight. We have zero tolerance for hateful, abusive, or discriminatory behavior toward people, belongings, and wildlife. With that being said, the 40+ year old trees and distance between the campsites provides space for you to bring and create your own vibes. Hosts should only approach you with safety or quiet hour concerns. They are available 24 / 7 for any questions or requests you may have. Looking for more? You're also not far from Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Adams. While you feel like you've stepped away from it all, you're still just a few miles away from the amenities of Packwood, including shopping, restaurants, gas, etc.

Some guess have reported that using slide outs leaves little to no room to walk past the slide outs without having to walk off the driveway; if your vehicle has slide outs this may not be an ideal location for your vacation.

Slippery Creek is available year around. Located 30 mins out of Enumclaw and 45 mins to Crystal Mountain ski resort and 1 hr to Paradise Mt. Rainier. SlipperyCreek sits on 4 acres of old growth forest and has a creek that runs along side it. The crystal clear creek is clean enough to drink from and runs cold even in August…. But I swim in it anyways. SlipperyCreek has many cool projects in mind for creating a place to camp, so if after your stay. If you want to come back and take on a project I’ll knock off 50% on your stay plus I could also be talked into BBQ hamburgers if your bring the Salid.
The project list: Build fire pits, trail maintenance and building, Tent platforms, outdoor shower and ambiance lighting.
SlipperyCreek has two camping areas: The Forest sight has un-level ground and plenty of room for a trailer, good tent camping area can be found, Oh ya….. Hammock camper this back area has giant trees….. just assume lay down and looking up 200 ft and the trees disappear. Hammock campers please note hammocks will be required to use straps vs rope. This Forest sites sits back 200 ft from the creek so if you have little people… You will also find a dried up creek bed to explore. The max turn around length is 30ft. This could also be a group camp site… 1 or 2 trailers and 3-5 tents, but you need to call to make these arrangements.
The River Beach: This spot has a rock pad that can handle 30 ft RVs, or two smaller trailers / camper vans. This site is still being developed, and you can hear car traffic but it’s on the river so the noise just white washes away. This spot gets good sunlight even though the tree line surrounds this area. This site currently lacks an area for a square tent , but narrow two person is fine . This spot has some great places to meditate or just lounge in the bean bag hut next to the river. More about the property…… I just dare you to take the plunge…. It only a little chilly. Make sure you keep your eyes open when walking the river because you can find petrified wood. Sam my daughter is one of those crafty people so look around for painted rocks., she leaves them all over the property. Please only 1 rock per kid… including the big kids too.
Upon arrival you will find an upper driveway ( my place) and a lower ( please honk and let others and myself know your here) the river beach sites is on the left side. The Forest site is down the road and around the corner..

We are a small homestead and apiary (honey bee farm) tucked beneath Mount Rainier in the beautiful PNW where on a clear day you’ll be treated to a stunning view of the mountain.
We offer 3 campsites** in an open field where it’s not unusual to see elk or deer in the early morning hours or to see ducks, geese and other waterfowl enjoying our pond or hear our resident frogs serenading you in the evenings.
There are wildflowers to enjoy, bees and other pollinators to photograph, and on clear nights, the star gazing is amazing - bring your telescope if you've got one!
Our property is adjacent to National Forest Land, perfect for hiking, foraging, and hunting. We are located 5 minutes from Mineral Lake - home of the 10 pound trout, ideal for the avid fisherman, boater, kayaker or all around water enthusiast, 5 miles from Alder Lake, 10 miles from the quaint town of Ashford, and we are only 15 miles from the Nisqually entrance of Mount Rainier National Park.
Our Campsites are "no frills” - dry camping/boondocking without many amenities. A toilet seat and bucket system is provided. Absolutely no cat holes!
**Camp Site Sizes:
• Camp Site #1 - large enough for two RV’s and/or four-six 6-person tents.
• Camp Site # 2 - large enough for one RV and/or four-six person tents. & one hammock
• Camp Site 3 - large enough for two 6-person tents. This site is the most private, however it does not have a direct view of Mount Rainier.
Water is NOT available at the camp sites but there are potable water facets elsewhere on the property and a bucket provided to transport water.
Electricity is NOT available, however, generators are permitted.
WiFi is NOT available, however Verizon and T-Mobile customers may find they have cell service on and around our property.
BEES!!! This is a working “bee farm”. If you are allergic to bees, think you might be allergic to bees or are afraid of bees, you may want to look at other listings.
We enjoy sharing our love of bees. If you’d like to learn more, you can even purchase a “beekeeping mini class/demonstration”, payable as a Hipcamp "extra" or in cash money when you arrive depending on the season.
PETS - They must remain on a leash and in your control at all times and please pick up after them.
LIVESTOCK - We have Chickens & Turkeys. The turkeys will greet you with you with friendly gobbles and clucks when you arrive and a our rooster can seem rather vociferous as he announces each new day earlier than we expect.
When available, fresh eggs and local honey available for purchase payable as a Hipcamp "extra" or in cash money when you arrive.
If you need gifts for the folks back home or souvenirs from your adventure, we may also have a selection of our soaps, honey in glass bottles, honey suckers and other “honey bee” related items available -- just ask us and we’d be happy to show you our stock.
Summer of 2024 we will be offering soap making & salve/balm making workshops! Ask about it.
