Starting December 1, or first night below freezing we will be closing down Bath House and only access will be at outhouses. Only sites near outhouses will be open and there will be no access to water. Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering the Jefferson National Forest, Thunder BRidge has scenic, large, private tent sites and cabins in the woods for those who want to experience camping at its finest. Many of the sites border Elk Creek. Our RV sites are large, flat and at the edge of the forest in a well kept open green space. Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life. All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Camp Cove Creek is located in rural Faber, Virginia which is 20 minutes from Charlottesville in beautiful Nelson County. In addition to the many natural features like the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail and the James River, Nelson is home to Wintergreen Resort and Oakridge Estate and hosts events such as the Lok'n Festival, Camp Jeep, and Overland Expo. Camp Cove Creek was part of my grandparent's Waveland Farm. Originally situated on over 600 acres, the brick antebellum house across the hill was used as a hospital in the Civil War. The camp used to be a horse and cattle farm as well as a flea market and airport with grass airstrip when my mom owned the land. Our vegetable garden was by the swimming hole. The airstrip still maintained as such in order to offer aviation-accessible camping. It is s the future home of Faber Christmas tree farm and features several notable antique vehicles rusting in peace. Some models are of the same make and model featured on TV and film. Camp Cove Creek is easily accessible via Rt 29 and Rt 6 east (Irish Road). Our property sits at the confluence of Bear and Cove Creeks where wading/hiking/tubing is permitted and encouraged (with water shoes). We are continually trying to improve the site by removing old barbed wire, poison ivy, roadside trash, and invasive plant species in addition to planting Christmas Trees, raising 3 kids, and working 2 full time jobs so please forgive our works in progress! This is your 30-acre camping playground! Licensed off-road vehicles, ADV and Dual-sport motorcycles, horses, personal electric vehicles and EVEN PRIVATE PLANES are welcomed! Camp anywhere along it or the creeks bordering it. We encourage walking the route first as it has intentionally been left primitive to provide more of an authentic and fun getaway adventure. Overlanding does tend to scratch paint so enter at your own risk! There is a Volleyball Net and Horseshoe set for use as well. Nearby in the soapstone mining town of Schuyler you can visit the home place of Earl Hamner, best known for his creation of The Waltons TV show. While you're there check out the Waltons Mountain Museum, which happens to be my old elementary school and my parent's former high school. Let your kids experience the best the river has to offer by exploring the shallows for crayfish, chasing minnows, or watching for Bald Eagles patrolling the river. Located in a peaceful rural setting, our hobbit house offers a truly immersive experience in nature that makes you feel like you have entered Middle Earth. Enjoy the rustic charm of the round door, but be mindful that bugs may enter more easily due to the design. We want your stay to be enjoyable, so please come prepared for a natural, off-grid experience. Refunds will not be provided if the generator needs to be used. Step into the enchanting world of Tolkien with a stay in our cozy hobbit house, featured on Building Off the Grid (Season 13, episode 3, Virginia Underground Home ). The tiny house includes a Murphy desk Hideaway bed (queen size), a hobbit-style dining nook, and a charming bathroom with a large copper soaking tub. Our dining area is a cozy, minimalist space designed for simple meals. We do not have a mini-refrigerator at this time, please bring a cooler if needed. While we do provide a stovetop, please note that it may occasionally cause slight fluctuations in the electricity. We recommend treating this as a camping-style experience by bringing non-perishable items or exploring the delicious takeout options available in nearby Scottsville. Every corner is filled with whimsical touches, from handmade maps of the Shire to portraits of beloved characters from LOTR. Completely off the grid, our eco-friendly home runs on solar power and a well septic system. We encourage guests to disconnect from the outside world—there’s no TV or Wi-Fi—so you can fully embrace the natural surroundings. The property spans nearly 24 acres, with some hiking trails started and future plans for gardens, and archery targets. We also wanted to mention that if you are interested in a stay but have a larger family or group of friends, we are permitted to allow tents and campers.

Camp is wooded acreage centrally located between Massanutten Resort and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Currently very, very basic with improvements happening weekly. Currently 2WD is okay and some clearance preferred like Tacoma, or Outback sized vehicles over all. A van can fit in site #3 but will take a multi point turns to come and go. Country vibe but close to restaurants, and outdoor activities near by such as mountain biking, road biking, hiking, skiing/boarding, and the floating/fishing on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. We are a family owned and operated vineyard and farm. Home to Southern Revere Cellars - Farm Brewery and Winery! 70 acres of forest and fields with a small pond and 3 Nigerian Dwarf goats. There are some fish in the pond, but it is catch and release. Fenced dog park and playground located behind the tasting room. Located conveniently between Richmond and Charlottesville only 3 miles off I-64 but feels like the secluded countryside. There are trails around the property to explore as well (please be considerate of other campers if present). You are welcome to visit the playground behind the tasting barn too. Porta john is also available in front of tasting room building, and water hose on East side of building for small amounts of water if needed (not intended to fill camper tanks). *Do note that we are a public business open Thurs-Mon, so there may be some noise and driveway traffic during open hours. 1 night at Lakefront!! Kayaks Available.

I decided last minute to get out for a quick overnight trip and do some camping/fishing. Found this place not too far from me. It’s wintertime so I had the place to myself, except a bunch of Beavers and some Deer. Everything was as described, I think even during the warmer months there is enough separation between sites that you would have a good amount of privacy while still being right near the water. There are kayaks for use and lots of good fishing spots. The host was cool and helpful. Highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Indian Camp Lane

We absolutely love coming to the cabin. This was the second time and during a different season and it was equally serene and peaceful. The family is very friendly and helpful and cares a lot which shows. It is definitely becoming a little sanctuary for us away from the hussle and bussle of the daily life and a place of gratitude, peace and calm and spending time in nature, in prayer and with the Lord. Thank you for creating such a wonderful place.

We had a great stay! The host Dave was an incredibly fast responder and very helpful! We stayed in the winter so it was quite chilly, just bring lots of blankets! Night one of our arrival it had just snowed, we had a little trouble getting up the hill, luckily we have AWD. I think without snow you could make it up the hill even without AWD. We would certainly stay again or recommend to another!

This cabin was absolutely lovely. I cannot recommend it enough! The wood burning stove kept us cozy on chilly nights, and we got great sleep in the loft. The farm pup is adorable!! The kitchen was fabulous and had everything we needed. This was the perfect place to spend a birthday get-away. There were a few wasps and one did find its way into a sleeping bag, but that comes with being outdoors. The town nearby is lovely and the largest antique warehouse in the country is just down the road! Plus proximity to lots of hiking. We can’t wait to come back!

Weekend Trip to Shireton

Shireton was the perfect cozy weekend getaway! The handmade touches, props, and themed details made everything feel so enchanted and magical. I also loved that the front door opened right into the sunset (the door itself is gorgeous). We had so much fun doing archery with the on-site bow and arrows, relaxing by the fire, and enjoying the copper tub/shower. Truly a charming, whimsical stay :)

Very cool place with multiple trails through the property. We chose a spot near the bottom by the creek, it was very peaceful! My girls enjoyed finding all the bikes, sleds, and lights around the property. The nostalgic vehicles are a nice touch! We will happily return👍🏼

Super dope area to camp, a few sites to choose from but the pond side was a nice choice for me and my group. Greg reached out early in the day for entry information and was responsive when we got a bit lost (the darkness confused things a bit). Flat and safe land - ideal for pitching a tent, easy to navigate on site, gorgeous sunrise and since it's at the top of a hill the sun hits just right. Would love to visit again and would for sure recommend!

Campsite was accurate described. Host was gracious and communicated quickly. Location was centrally located to lots of areas. Luray to the north, Elkton just around the corner, and Waynesboro to the south. Campsite was nice. Even with houses closer by, it was quiet and felt secluded. Except for maybe some nearby roosters to wake you up. Their horses loved to say hello especially once they learned you have apples for them. Would definitely stay here again.
