She does all the woodworking, using sustainable practices, with locally-sourced wood, and her best friend Kathy does the fabric end of things. I was one of her early guinea pigs, and love my yurt property dearly <3 This 24' yurt sits on a beautiful private acreage off an end-state maintenance road, with biking and hiking trails just a 20 minute drive from the touristy town of Floyd, Virginia. Newly constructed tiny home provides GLAMPING at its finest! The Liberty cabin shares a space with a few tent sites along the river. With the addition of Liberty, I have limited the number of campers to 4. (Exceptions may be made for holiday weekends). There is plenty of space for everyone and the cabin sits above the tent sites for amazing views and privacy. While HWY 16 can be a bit noisy during busy times, step into the campsites and let the peaceful noise-canceling river serenity whisk you away. Forest views across the river with endless fireflies and stars that light up the night! Zaloo's Canoes, Kayak, and Tubes is within eyesight and will set you up with an amazing float or paddle down river. Plentiful small mouth bass and trout fishing just steps from your site. Outhouse w/washing station. Fire pits at each site as well as a large communal fire pit and picnic tables. Downtown West Jefferson is just 15 minutes away with local breweries, quaint restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, shopping, music, art, and a wonderful farmer's market from May - October. The quaint little town of Lansing, NC is quickly becoming a favorite stop of mine. Check out the Old Orchard Creek General Store, Pie on the Mountain Pizza, the Old Orchard Creek Blueberry Farm, and Molly Chomper for a perfect day in Ashe County. The New River State Park is an easy walk, float, paddle or drive away. This park is absolutely GORGEOUS and impeccably maintained, including hiking trails, public facilities, showers, boat launch and pick up, etc. Just a short drive to multiple Blue Ridge Parkway entry points for ease of access to Boone, Appalachian State University, Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Banner Elk, and the Linville Gorge. Mount Jefferson and Grayson Highlands are also just a short drive away for unlimited hiking and incredible mountain views. My personal favorite is hiking with the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands! We have Firewood available for a nominal fee. Just let us know and we will make arrangements to have it ready for you upon arrival. Please respect quiet hours between 10 PM and 8 AM each evening.

It is fenced with split rail fencing and has a solar powered gate, with a gate fob provided. We are dog friendly, with a $25 pet fee per stay. This is a safe, beautiful area to visit nearby Floyd, a nearby kayak rental shuttle service, breweries, a meadery 2 miles away, and many other unique finds. Beautiful Mountain View’s and backwoods drive. A unique wool farm is just down the dirt road with a cash only roadside stand.

Perfect for couples, small families, and furry friends, our dog-friendly cabin offers a peaceful escape with stunning long views of a serene meadow and creek. Inside the Cabin: Our cozy cabin is thoughtfully designed to provide all the comforts of home. It features warm décor, with new furnishings and a well-equipped kitchen for your cooking needs. Main floor sleeping arrangements are a bedroom with new memory foam queen bed, and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. Up the loft steps, a twin bed is located in the "Eagles landing", with a new memory foam double bed in the bedroom. Please be aware that the stairs are quite steep and were not designed with railing. We recommend exercising caution when using them, especially for guests with mobility concerns, young children, or those who may be less sure-footed. Your safety and comfort are important to us, so please take care when choosing your sleeping arrangements. There is one bathroom with a shower downstairs, located off the kitchen. A small washer dryer is also available. Please note, these can accommodate only small loads of laundry. You'll find bath towels and smaller towels specifically for drying off after a relaxing soak in the hot tub. We've stocked quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, as well as some basic toiletries in case a guest forgets to bring an item. In the living room, the 55" TV streams Netflix, Hulu or any app on the Roku TV (you will need your own log in). The internet is provided by Starlink and is high speed! The queen bedroom also has a Roku TV, and a selection of board games, cards, and some children's activities are available below the TV. Outdoor Amenities: Take a relaxing soak in the hot tub while watching the local wildlife in the meadow. Enjoy our spacious fire pit area, complete with Adirondack chairs with a grill grate—perfect for evening s'mores or grilling under the stars. Lounge in the double hammock, or challenge your friends to a friendly game of cornhole. We also provide extra camp chairs that you may take down to the creek. When exploring the field and creek area please look at boundary map in our pictures for property lines to respect our neighbors. Deer, turkey, rabbits and hawks are spotted daily, and our neighbors report occasional bear sightings. Firewood: For your convenience, we provide 6-8 pieces of firewood for your use during your stay. If you require additional firewood, we kindly ask that you bring your own or contact us. We offer the option to use more firewood for a small donation. Just let us know, and we'll be happy to accommodate your needs.

The property is 4.66 acres at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, only 1 mile from the largest recreation area (Doughton Park) on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Longbottom Leaves is a working permaculture homestead. We have two creeks, a (swimming) pond, an off-grid house, a cob pizza oven, a fruit-and-nut orchard, a huge vegetable garden, and over three acres of forest with walking trails through them. We are only 4 miles from Stone Mountain State Park in North Carolina. Hiking and fishing are fantastic in both Doughton Park and Stone Mountain SP, and Stone Mountain also has rock climbing routes. In addition, we are less than a 30-minute drive from about a dozen or so vineyards. Elkin NC is about 40 minutes east, Wilkesboro NC is about 40 minutes south, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is 20 minutes away. We--Emma and Jonathon--live in an off-grid cabin on the property. We both garden and write (travel- and sustainability-type stuff), and we are happy to share info about the property and stuff to do around the area.

Reconnect with nature in our pet friendly rustic cabin on 35 wooded acres with two walking trails (Blue trail 3/4 mile loop and Yellow trail 1 mile loop), 5 acre meadow and large spring fed pond with bass, sunfish and trout. Enjoy walks, fishing, abundant wildlife and night star-gazing with virtually no light pollution. Cabin features great room with fireplace and wood stove, dining room, kitchen, downstairs bathroom, and two bedrooms. Downstairs you will find a bathroom, bedroom with a queen bed. Upstairs you’ll find one bedroom with a full bed and loft area with a twin bunk. It will sleep six comfortably, and linens are provided. Large back deck with gas grill and rocking chairs which overlook the meadow and it’s frequent furry and feathered visitors and mirrored pond. Bring marshmallows for the fire pit near the cabin. The cabin is at 2600 ft. elevation but still can be warmer in summer months. It cools down to the mid 60’s to low 70’s most summer nights so we don’t have AC there. We do have WiFi. Just five miles off the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway and in the heart of the Blue Ridge Wine Region. We’re mid-way to the town of Floyd from Roanoke, and an easy 40 miles to Tech. Historically the “Eggleston Place, built by hand by one of the original families of the area. It was part of a large farm which was divided many years ago into 25-100 tracts. If you cherish the call of the outdoors, enjoyed in rustic comfort, you will love Gobbler Knob. Blacksburg, Virginia 1 hour, 37 miles. Christiansburg, Virginia 45 minutes, 29 miles. Roanoke, Virginia (downtown) 50 minutes, 23 miles. Roanoke, Virginia (Cave Spring Kroger) 33 minutes, 18 miles. Floyd, Virginia (Food Lion) 37 minutes, 24 miles. *Depending on which way you come in the last 3 ~ 4 miles are on state maintained gravel road. Extended bookings: We do not allow online bookings more than 6 months in the future. Riverview Treehouse

The cabin is ~20 ft from the back corner of our house on a slope overlooking the North Fork of the New River. It is built on stilts next to a tree giving it a treehouse feel. You’ll have your own access to our side yard gate on natural stone steps. From the gate, there is a short staircase to the 8 X 10 front deck, partially enclosed for privacy. You may encounter our us, our small dogs or cats or us as you pass through the yard. The cabin is 10’ X 12’ with a small kitchen, sitting area, and sleeping area. The outhouse, with a composting toilet, a shower, and hot running water, is accessed through the 8’ x 6’ secluded back deck. The kitchen area consists of a sink, 2 burner hot plate, microwave, Keurig coffee maker and mini fridge. There is a one-lane dirt lane easement just below the cabin that you’ll cross to access the riverfront. A few cars will pass by daily but most of the time it the lane is very quiet. The lane continues along the river for about 1 mile before it becomes paved, making for a lovely peaceful walk. You’ll have unlimited access to the river and riverfront lawn with seating and a firepit. The river is ideal for fly fishing for Brook, Rainbow and Brown Trout. This section of the river is regulated as “wild” public mountain trout water (open year-round, single hook artificial lures only, minimum size 7 inches, daily limit 4 fish). Kayaks and bikes are available for your use. The cabin is a 45-minute float upstream or downstream of two access points. 🐶 Pets are accepted on a case by case basis! Please contact us when you book to let us know what type of animal you plan on bringing!
