Camp near the sandy shores of southeast Texas in Port Lavaca.
Texas’s Gulf Coast is home to some busy seashore towns, like Galveston and South Padre Island. However, if you’re seeking a more tranquil spot to enjoy the beaches and beauty, check out Port Lavaca, located southeast of San Antonio. Hang out on the sands, hit the waves, or set sail on the open bay waters. Grab your binoculars and head to Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, where you can take in views of whooping cranes, sea turtles, and alligators. Port Lavaca camping options are found on the waterfront and inland, where you may find campsites and cabins near ponds, lakes, and creeks. For public campgrounds, head to Texana Park and Campground, which offers tent and RV campsites strung along the shores of Lake Texana. Or, for more of the Gulf, check out Goose Island State Park, where giant oaks shade some campsites.
