Escape the crowds of Pittsburgh and drive your motorhome to this family-friendly country town.
Less than an hour’s drive from Pittsburgh and just minutes from the West Virginia state line, the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it town of Cross Creek is best known for its nearby parks. Head to Cross Creek Country Park, the largest in Washington County, to boat, fish, or hike around the lake—there’s also a dog park and boat rentals available. To the north, Hillman State Park has miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails, as well as seasonal fishing and hunting, and Racoon Creek State Park is famous for its 314-acre wildflower reserve. Less than 200 people live in Cross Creek itself, so campers and RVers will need to travel a little further. Check in to a nearby RV park with full hookups and pull-thru sites suitable for big rigs, seek out quiet tent camping at a local Hipcamp, or snag an RV site at Racoon Creek with picnic tables and restrooms.
