Deer & elk walk through the property on a fairly regular basis depending on the season, it's less than a mile walk (or short drive) to the Wind River & a swimming hole, & a short distance further is the Pacific Crest Trail. A 20-minute drive & you're at the Columbia River. An hour to the West is Portland if you are in the mood for some city life, & 35 minutes east is Hood River, a gorgeous old town with tons of charm. The closest town, Stevenson, Washington is home to shops, local restaurants, & access to the Columbia River. Also in close proximity are amazing waterfalls, trails, & National Forest roads that are close by & well maintained. No matter the season there is something to do a short distance from the property. GeerCrest Farm was settled by the Geer family in 1848, and is still owned and stewarded by the family. The house Ralph and Mary Geer built in 1851 stands and is one of the oldest in Oregon to remain in the same family. The farm features creeks, forests, pastures, orchards and gardens as well as the historic buildings. Currently we have four friendly sheep and a small flock of Mallard ducks to keep us company. The Pioneer Memorial Orchard features over 50 vairieties of pre 1850 apple trees. The Heritage Grove has ten fruit and nut trees that were recognizeds as a memorial the the early pioneers of the nursery trade by Oregon Heritage Tree program. The 20 acre property, offers three tent camp sites Including the Tree House site, as well as two forest cabins and a small forest bunkhouse (sleeps 6). Our peaceful, small farm offers a reflective immersion in nature and history among the occasional quacking of ducks and baaas of sheep. The scenery from all corners of the farm is incredible - a favorite is the westward view of the valley pasture at sunset -- called "Homer's View" after famous political cartoonist and Geer descendant, Homer Davenport. No matter which camping site you choose, the sounds of the creek, pond frogs, or conversing owls are sure to lull you to sleep. Feel free to roam the farm, but always leave gates as you find them, open or closed. Please say hello to our sheep and barn cats (they may say hello first). Explore the Heritage Grove of historic trees, the Memorial apple orchard and pear glade with varieties circa 1840s, indulge your senses in our medicinal herb garden, and chat with our farm family while they water the veggie gardens, if you so wish! We see ourselves as stewards of this hidden forest gem and welcome people to enjoy its beauty. We are avid campers and recently spend 9 months in our teardrop trailer off grid on public lands. Living here we are three family members, one renter and short term volunteer traveler workers. We all work from home, Arehn a spiritual life coach, who loves to cook, Jim a software engineer and disc golfer, son Ian, software engineer and writer and Zuzu, forest fire fighter and logger lives in a separate apartment on the property.

Crooked Finger Farms has great history. The Farm and surrounding acreage was homesteaded in the late 1850’s-1860’s. You can still pick the fruit from the original heirloom apple and pear trees! All sites have shared access to hot showers, portable toilets, and potable water next to Outdoor kitchen and dinning area. Guests love staying with us; "Brenda's property is fantastic. We had a gathering of friends for a long weekend on this property (rented the cabin too) and had the best time. Having the creek to splash around in, warm running water for showers and washing dishes, trails to explore, and the delivery of fresh produce and eggs from the property far exceeded our expectations. Brenda is the best host - she answered all my questions quickly and was very generous with our group. Definitely recommend!"

GeerCrest Farm is a little slice of heaven! We rented the bunkhouse for our daughter’s birthday and the girls had the best time exploring the property. So many fun things to do and lovely spots to enjoy. The hosts were very gracious and helpful - setting up badminton for the kids to play, and loaning us a camp stove so we could heat up some soup. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend.

We absolutely loved this spot - one of our favorite stays ever! It was exceptionally quiet, clean and cozy. We felt right at home and thoroughly enjoyed the peace and serenity of the property - sitting on the porch watching the sunset, listening to the crickets, and watching the friendly deer eat blackberries. The trails behind the cabin were lovely for a daytime stroll and lounging in a sunny clearing. Brian was such a friendly and welcoming host and made us feel comfortable and taken care of. My 6yo son and I had a lovely two nights on the farm! We stayed in the perfectly petite Farm Cottage, which was just the right size for us. Being surrounded by so many happy animals was a delight, and we especially enjoyed the Morning Farm Chores add-on, spending about 90 minutes helping feed and water the horses, pony, goats, dogs, cats, ducks, chickens, geese, sheep, mini pig, rabbits, mini horses, and donkey. The location was great for Gorge sightseeing, and we enjoyed meals in cute downtown Troutdale (a 15min drive from the farm), easy hike at Latourell Falls, a visit up to Vista House, and brunch down at Multnomah Falls. The farm was peaceful and quiet, and a welcome retreat from city life. We highly recommend a visit or a stay there!

With a fully stocked kitchen and a propane grill on the back deck, you are able to prepare delicious meals with ease. Right off the kitchen, there is a utility room that includes a washer and dryer for your use. For the winter season, there are also racks on the wall to hang your skis or snowboards to let them dry out after a day on the slopes. The living space makes for a relaxing place to curl up with a book, whether you bring your own or choose to read one from our bookshelf. There is also a Smart TV with streaming capabilities and one of the couches folds down into a futon for an additional sleeping area. From there, you will find the spiral staircase that retreats up to the loft area, which has accommodations of two full size beds.
