The Forest Cupcake

1 site · Lodging20 acres · Lyle, WA
This unique place in Lyle, Washington - part of the Columbia River Gorge scenic area - is magical and utterly beautiful. The property is set in a magnificent meadow as far as the eye can see with soft rolling hills, edged up to a deep oak woodland/ponderosa pine forest. Wildlife, stars, trails, and rivers all abound here. We think it is one of the finest, most precious and beautiful places on the planet. For outdoor recreation, this area is a windsurfing and kiteboarding mecca. Mount Adams and Mount Hood, await hikers and skiers, and kayaking is popular on the Klickitat and White Salmon Rivers. Heart-stopping beauty and peacefulness whichever way you turn. You will feel like you have gone to your own little Shangri-La and you will not soon forget the experience. Even sleeping is special here, as you look up into the dome of the yurt and behold the stars, while twinkle lights gently illuminate the interior. We live in a slice of heaven, and we want to share it with others.

Garden of Eden

1 site · Tent10 acres · Lyle, WA
We are new stewards and first-time homeowners of this serene, 10.5 acre homestead. 'Modern' human development on this land first began in old logging days in the early 1900s and old logging access road still runs through the center of our property. When we purchased this land in 2020, we knew we were investing in a real 'fixer-upper'. The original Buckminster Fuller geodome home was built back in the 1970s, and the outbuildings and garden spaces were later added on as the property changed hands over the decades. By the time we landed here, however, the home was in severe state of neglect. As we continue to care for and restore this home and land, we aim to use environmentally sustainable practices to minimize our impact on the land while upcycling, recycling, and re-using anything we can in the process! Nadja's Hideway

4 sites · Lodging5 acres · Lyle, WA
Happy New Year! We’ll be ready to open up again this spring, so start planning for the 2024 season. Hope you can be our guest this year. Play in Hood River during the day, relax in the country at night. We're 6.5 miles up in the hills, called High Prairie, above the sleepy town Lyle. Enjoy the peace on our 5 acre hideaway, wake up with the chickens - we have a rooster just FYI - (and yes we sell fresh eggs :). Take a walk to look at Mt. Adams which is just around the corner. Hiking, biking, kite boarding, windsurfing all within a few miles of reach with never ending opportunities to get your exercise. Just ask for tips. The land has mostly Oak trees where you can take your nap in your hang matt. The place is easy accessible, far away from all but still close to all Gorge attractions during the day. The town has a nice little convenience store, breakfast place and the Sandbar that has good food and some entertainment. Grocery shopping is best done in Hood River, White Salmon or The Dalles. Once up here, there isn't much, so come prepared.

Susan C.’s Land

1 site · Lodging4 acres · Rhododendron, OR
I grew up in the Philadelphia area and in 2002, I followed my calling and moved out to Portland, OR. I am a nature lover and enjoy everything that the Pacific Northwest has to offer -- the mountains, unlimited hiking and biking trails, beautiful lakes and rivers. Not to mention the abundance of good IPAs, coffee and delicious food. Over the years, I camped in several places in the area and always dreamed of owning a cabin near Mt. Hood. In 2008, my dream came true when I purchased my cabin and land in ZigZag. I am very excited to share this magical place with you and hope that you enjoy your time!

Crystal Creek Cabin

2 sites · Lodging80 acres · Rhododendron, OR
Sit on the covered porch no matter the weather and enjoy the sounds and scenes of nature! This is the ideal place to come, unwind and just be a part of nature. Your views will be of trees, mountains and creeks. The cabin is far enough away from our home so you will have privacy and seclusion. It is a short but very uphill hike from the parking area. When you arrive, feel free to find your way up to the cabin. You may want to pack light as it is a bit of a hike! Linens and blankets will be provided for the King size bed. The cabin is constructed from local trees we've harvested using our sawmill as well as Redwood and Douglas Fir salvaged from an old water tower deconstructed locally on the mountain. This is the perfect rustic, quiet and private retreat for all seasons. We now have a King size bed in the cabin for up to 2 people. This is a one of kind rustic experience. We provide all of the firewood needed for the cabin. Longer stays at a discounted price for those engaged in creative projects will be considered...please message me.

Propane fires are permitted, if you have a portable campfire ring, please feel free to bring your own. For your safety and ours: no check in/arrival after dark sets in. Around 5:15PM during winter months, 8:30PM summer. Campground hosts (Vanessa and Isiah) live on site and will greet you at arrival. There are many reasons why you would want to book a stay at Camp Sandy! We offer the perfect getaway for friends, family, reunions, retreats, or private getaway. PLEASE NOTE (read before booking): Parking is not near your campsite, you will need to park at the top of the hill (look for visitor parking sign) and walk 1/4 miles (15 minutes or less) to your campground. Note, you will need to walk back up the hill on your return, pack light, bring hiking shoes, and enjoy the view!! Other things to note: This is a real working farm, on the way down to your campsite you may see some farmers watering and taking care of their crops, feel free to give 'em a smile and a wave on your way down to the campsite! By next summer, guests will be able to buy farm produce and goods. How to access the river: There are signage indicating where the trail head begins. You will walk through beautiful forest to reach the beach. At the fork in the forest, keep right. We rate this hike medium to easy and will take the average hiker about 20 minutes or less. It’s an adventure and you will be rewarded with amazing views. If you want to access the sandy river by driving, we recommend you check out Dodge Park a 5 minute drive from Camp Sandy.
