Weekend Trip to Ramblin' Redwoods Campground

We had a great time camping here! The host was accommodating when we asked for our site to be moved closer to our friend’s site. The directions were clear and easy to check in after hours.

Weekend Trip to Chinook RV Resort

Beautiful spot along the river. Exactly what we signed up for. Everyone was helpful and kind at the site. Self check-in/out. We hit a sunny patch in the week so all the grass was nice and dry for us to camp on. Mostly an RV spot, but we tent camped. Would highly recommend if it's on the way!

Was a very peaceful weekend. I was the only tent camper and had the whole area to myself. Staff was very friendly and made me feel welcomed. I will definitely be camping here again this summer!

Awesome tent spot to stay in near red wood forest! The wooden platform for the tent was very large and in good condition! I also feel like the tent spots were far enough away to feel like you weren't completely in an RV park. The bathrooms and shower were lovely and clean as well!!

This park is very spacious and clean, full of vibrant energy. The tea lounge and river were highlights for me. This is a great place to catch some zzzs under a tree. It’s raining on my tent here now at the end of March, with patches of sunshine and warm weather in between. Zzzzzzzzz…

Weekend Trip to Ossia Village Farm

Ossia was a serene and wonderful spot to park my van overnight. Hanya was easy to communicate with and provided clear instructions. Dar was so welcoming, he gave me a tour of the farm and amenities, discussed the farming practices when I inquired, and asked if I would like to feed the animals (of course!). I loved meeting and getting to know the different animals and was able to spend such a peaceful night in my van. This site has everything you could need and Dar was very generous - he sent me on my way with some fresh duck eggs to try! I will definitely be back over the summer to experience the farm in full bloom.

Weekend Trip to Free Your Mind Camping

Free your mind was a wonderful place to stay when visiting the redwoods. Great fire pit.

2 nights at Cedar Bloom

My friend and I had a wonderful stay- despite it being cold and rainy, we were able to feel cozy. We returned from a day of hiking in the redwoods and Mea was wonderful about coordinating so the hot tub and sauna were all warmed up when we got back. She also gave us extra towels to keep the floor (and all of us) dry with the rain. It was my first time bringing my puppy/teen dog on a “camping trip” and this was a good way to ease her into it and keep her comfortable! Very kind and thoughtful people on the property. I would definitely recommend staying! We all felt very safe here.

2 nights at Lower Lake Farm Camp

Lovely setting on a small family farm. The hosts are very friendly and have made this a nice place to camp. It is generally quiet though three beautiful dogs in a fenced yard make their presence known occasionally. The full hookups are nice. New 30 amp electrical. We parked a 28’ travel trailer and that’s about as big as I’d try to park there…not a ton of space to maneuver. Also, we arrived after an incredible amount of rain in late winter and our rig wasn’t easy on their lawn. They were understanding and I’m sure it’ll be in good shape after some drier weather.

1 night at Chinook RV Resort

The accommodations were a great fit for our family of five’s needs stopping just one night in the midst of trail hiking to get clean and sleep. The space was efficient with fresh sheets and comfortable bedding. We used the oven to reheat our leftovers and brewed coffee for the morning. Nice view of the river! Smooth independent check in and out process. Make sure you load directions while you have access, cell service and gps spotty in the area- but a nice luxury to have WiFi once we arrived there.

1 night at Cedar Bloom

It was a cool space. Bathrooms were clean and the amenities were great. The campground wasn’t crowded at all when we were there which was especially nice and the property cat was very cute. I’d stay there again

As a solo female traveler I have found that there are some hipcamps that are perfectly safe, but still give give you slight unease. This is NOT one of those places!! It's beautiful, safe, and super easy to navigate day or night! Highly recommend:)

Area is right off of highway 101 so it is easy to find. Can’t hear traffic or anything. Quiet and nice. There are a ton of campsites really close to each other so it wasn’t private but it was quiet and nice and clean. the showers were down when we were visiting and they didn’t discount our stay for that even though that was one of the main reasons we reserved a spot at a campsite like this. I didn’t realize this well enough when booking, but You aren’t going to be super close to many of the well known trails for the redwoods including the ave of the giants, so if that’s why you’re staying here maybe look for something further south.

I loved camping at Bonnie and Chris's ranch! The property is beautiful, I especially liked the cypress trees and creek running near our campsite. Lots of cute animals, friendly cats and dogs around as well. Would definitely camp here again.

It was absolutely stunning, we walked all over the property. It was peaceful and there were beautiful treasures to see everywhere you looked, from crystals to sitting areas. The bathhouse was magical.

Klamath’s best kept secret

We have been a family owned RV Park/Campground for over 40 years. This is a very rustic, old-fashioned campground located at the end of a neighborhood next to the river. We are adjacent to tribal lands. We are not responsible for their culture or their practices. FYI: this is part of the Northwest coastal Pacific rainforest. Emphasis on rainforest so before you book or before you’re coming, just check the weather. I would also like to say we are bee friendly. We don’t use pesticides and poison is not allowed to be used on the property. So if you see patches of flowers which some people would call weeds like oxy daisies and maybe even some dandelions it is for the bees because they have such a short season here on the coast that I try to make food available for them. As mentioned this is also a RV Park so there will be RVs on site. It is an open field campground dispersed with trees. Neighbors will be present. The river access is right over the levee just a few minutes walk from your campsite. Fishing on the river is allowed but you need a license. We are near the woods and river so wildlife is present. Please make sure your food is put away nightly to discourage critters from coming into camp. The campground is just a short drive from a selection of hiking or biking trails. As well as other attractions like the Jet Boat Tours and Trees of Mystery. Located at the end of a glen cell service in this area can be spotty or non existent depending on the carrier. Wifi is available near main house but is limited to emails, messaging and mapping your next adventure. We welcome people of all seasons. Just ask that you are kind and respectful to each other. Well Behaved Pets Are Allowed. Children and Laughter are Always Welcome. We look forward to your visit. August and September there will be fisher persons in the campground. So be warned of early morning engine noise as they head out to the river for fishing. Electric cars that want to charge there is a $10 fee at time of service. Must make arrangements ahead of a time because 50 amp services are limited. Plus you need to bring your own adapters.

From the South GPS is very accurate to our driveway. Coming from the North, GPS may drop you at "Marchmont Farm". Keep driving about another 1/8th mile until you see the large "Cornerstone Ranch" sign. That is our driveway. The large Yurt Tent about a 20 foot oval. It is part of the Cornerstone Ranch Hip Camp family of sites on the Ranch totaling 7. In a very quiet part of the campgrounds and having a picnic table under a large pine. We have added 2 twin memory foam mattresses and two camping mattresses in the Yurt along with a few other things to make your stay comfortable while still enjoying the Ranch, Coast and the Rogue River and all it has to offer. The ranch also offers 6 different campsites. Campfires are allowed (outside of burn bans), and there is a toilet on site as well. Reviews from guests: "During the night we could hear Elk and the nearby nature! When we woke up we got to visit with the horses, use the really clean port-potty, and chat with Bonnie the Host! She has tons of recommendations, but our favorite was the Indian creek cafe across the river. The areas so great and clean and the host cares about her guests! Would recommend!"

Overview

Situated in the southernmost reaches of the Oregon Coast, Brookings is a cute beach town with beautiful scenery and easy access to outdoor adventure, both in southern Oregon and in Northern California. There are plenty of spots to camp in and around town, including Harris Beach State Park, just north of Brookings, and Alfred A. Loeb State Park, about a 15-minute drive from town on the banks of the Chetco River. Both parks offer year-round camping, but Harris Beach is the more RV-friendly of the two, with full hookup sites and a dump station.

Where to go

Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor

Stretching for 18 miles along Highway 101, from Brookings to Gold Beach, this stretch of coastline is considered by many as the finest in the state. It's also a great place to hike, with options ranging from easy mile-long hikes to longer stretches, and while many people opt to drive and stop at viewpoints along the way, it's not uncommon to see hikers tackling the whole thing.

Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest

Stretching across much of southwestern Oregon and into Northern California, this forest offers miles of trails, tons of campgrounds, and around 200 miles of lakes and streams. It's also home to one of the world's largest pine trees, a ponderosa that measures a whopping 268.35 feet in height.

The California Redwoods

Just over the California border, the Redwood National and State Parks collectively preserve some of the largest trees in the world. There's a lot to see from your car, including a few drive-through trees and the scenic Avenue of the Giants driving route, but it's worth sticking around to camp or hike if you have the time.

When to go

Brookings is a great place to visit no matter the season, but the camping conditions are certainly at their finest during the summer months, when there's less rainfall, but don't expect many hot, sunny days, as summer highs usually top out in the mid- to upper 60s. July and August are the busiest time of year in and around Brookings, so if you want to avoid crowds and rain at the same time, visit in September.
