R&R Retreat. Digital Detox.

3 sites · RVs, Tents40 acres · Centralia, WA
This 40 Acre parcel has been in my family since the 1870's when my Great^4 grandparents homesteaded it. For the first 50 years or so, It was used as a hay field and cattle pasture, but it has been managed as a tree farm ever since and we are still doing periodic selective harvests. It was handed down through the paternal family to my Great Uncle, who passed away in 2013 and deeded it to my 2nd cousin in the will. My Dad and I bought it from my cousin, who lives in Arizona, together. Then my Wife and I bought my Dad out with our share of the profits from our first commercial thinning.Although I plan to do some minor harvesting in the future, I no longer intend to do any clearcutting. Selective harvests only. I hope that campers will make ample use of windfalls and other debris to keep the fire risk low. I also use the property as a release site for wildlife caught as part of my urban nuisance wildlife business.

THANK YOU ALL FOR A GREAT 2024! We are "CLOSED" for the season. However, if you have been here before and you think you would really enjoy being here during rainy season, please send us a message stating your wishes and we will open up the dashboard for you to book and camp with us "off-season" (maybe even stay in our yurt!). We hope you will come enjoy the refreshing privacy and quiet of camping on our beautiful, small-scale, organic farm. This is a great place to get away from the scattered urgency of modern life. We want you to reconnect with what matters most and get some new inspiration! We are 25 minutes west of I-5, halfway between Seattle and Portland. Pacific Ocean beaches are 1.5 hours away. Our guests love the near-by swimming hole, shared fire areas, fresh produce and clean outhouses. Meeting the farm animals, napping in the hammocks, mastering the rope swing and wandering the many paths are also memory-makers. Some of our "extras" -- Farm Tours, Propane Firebowls, Saunas, and more -- are available for purchase when you make your booking. ALL SITES have flat tent spots, a picnic table, hammock, sun, shade, outhouse access and room to park. Sites are 300 feet apart, on average. More details about each site can be seen in the listing. {PLEASE NOTE that some photos have been uploaded by guests and are not actually posted in relation with the correct site #.} If you are un-sure WHICH ONE to choose, send a message describing your "party" and desired experience. We will help you select a site. We also have areas that can be turned into a "group kitchen" if you want to reserve the ENTIRE camping area for a reunion, party, retreat, training, etc. Come recharge yourself in our little corner of God's Pocket!

Mother Tree Acres Homestead

3 sites · Tents7 acres · Deer Island, OR
Welcome to Mother Tree Acres Homestead. We are a working homestead nestled in the Cascade Mountain Range Forest at about 500 feet, and just 7 miles from the Columbia River in (Canaan) Deer Island, Oregon. Situated 20 minutes from the charming town of St. Helens, Oregon, our property offers quiet, primitive tent camping among the forest, birds, deer and other wildlife. Guests will enjoy about two acres of private forest while camping, but please note there may be another group if the other tent site is occupied at the same time. The main house/homestead is on the front 2 acres of the 6.5-acre property. There is a seasonal creek in the forest, and several short paths if you'd like to explore a bit. As you explore, do take note of stinging nettles in the area, depending on the season, but we do a good job at keeping those cut back from campsites and people trails. The heart of our property lies in the spiritual embrace of the great Mother Tree, a grand Big Leaf Maple that nurtures many others in the forested area. As stewards of this land, we extend a warm invitation to our guests to sit with The Mother Tree and connect with the Earth before entering the forested area where the designated Tent Sites are located. We offer a bundle of firewood for guests ($5) when the fire ban is not in effect. You are welcome to purchase fresh farm eggs laid by our hens if you'd like to cook them for camp breakfast, or take some with you after your stay ($5). Guests are welcome to self-pick fresh Oregon blackberries for free from the property when in season. If you would like to spend time with our sweet Nigerian Dwarf goats, please let us know ahead of time- they love treats and to meet new people! There is a communal composting toilet in the forested campsite area that has minimal privacy (half walls and no door). The view from the loo is fantastic, but guests should be aware it is not fully enclosed. We recommend guests be self-contained with their own toilet/shower facilities if more privacy is desired. Camp/tent sites are not accessible by vehicle. Designated camper parking is located on the back end of the homestead, outside the designated tent sites area in the forest and requires about a 60-yard walk (2-3 minutes). The trail leading to the camp sites is moderately sloped and not easily accessible to people who may have extra accessibility needs. Guests should be prepared to take trash with them on departure. We welcome and encourage guests to bring their dogs, but please keep them on a leash during your stay. We humbly steward this land that is the traditional, ancestral territory of Cayuse, Umatilla and Walla Walla, Cowlitz, Multnomah, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, and Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians First Nations, and the great many wildlife and other Earthly beings. It’s a place rich in history and meaning. As you explore Mother Tree Acres Homestead, may you also share in the authentic beauty and connecting power of this area, and create lasting memories. We look forward to your visit!
