Come escape to one of our Modern Geo-Domes located up on the Shawangunk Ridge in Gardiner, NY. This cozy, seasonal dome (HEAT + AC) is a part of The Awosting Club, which is a private wilderness reserve. Unplug, relax, unwind. Nestled in native blueberry bushes, high above a beautiful ravine and surrounded by pine trees. This Geo-Dome overlooks the Palmaghatt Kill Stream from its wide windows and beautiful deck. Equipped with a log queen bed, skylight above, super soft linens, cozy blankets, and a down comforter in the colder months. Included are towels, a mini fridge, bluetooth speaker, Keurig machine, coffee, charcoal grill, lantern, umbrellas, a mini library of books and 1 gallon drinking water. If you are coming as a family, one additional children's mattress on the floor may be added. Outside of your Geo-Dome you will find an amazing private fire pit, charcoal grill and hammock. Firewood bundles are available for purchase for $10 or you may bring your own. In addition, each site has an outhouse, which is thoroughly cleaned after each guest. A bit rustic, but there is no odor! Geo-Domes are a short 1 - 3 minute walk from parking. Please dress accordingly in colder months. You will be greeted by our Host at the gate for check-in and guided to your site. Guest waivers to be completed at check-in. Our Geo-Domes are dog friendly and require a $75 pet fee. One dog maximum. Nature is calling! **History of The Awosting Club** In the mid 1950's John Atwater Bradley, then a graduate student, attended a conference in Cragsmoor, the site of a celebrated art colony not far from what is now the Awosting Reserve and The Awosting Club. The next morning at dawn, he went out for an exploratory hike and did not return until long after dark. Bradley hiked through evergreen and hardwood forests, along bubbling streams, roaring waterfalls and shimmering mountain lakes. He discovered an incredible wilderness like none he'd ever seen, populated by whitetail deer, black bear, fox, racoons, bobcat and coyote as well as a natural aviary of hawks, peregrine falcons, owls, eagles and pileated woodpeckers. That day he fell in love with the Shawangunk Ridge. The Bradley family still maintain the property, and after 50 years of sharing the property with educational organizations, schools, artists, writers, explorers, camps, family and friends, are excited to invite others to fall in love with the Shawangunk Ridge as John Bradley had over 70 years ago. Bradley's daughter, Camilla, and her family are keeping the Awosting traditions alive by sprucing up the camp buildings and platforms while maintaining the trails that have been used for decades for outdoor adventures: from sleeping to eating to playing to communing with nature in all her glory.

This campsite is equipped with a single Queen-sized cot with air mattress, woodstove, portable camp toilet, solar heated sun shower. Bring your own bedding/sleeping bags. Drive-up access requires SUV-type clearance for the creek crossings. For easier 2 wheel access check out my other 5-star secluded campsite- Schoharie Creekside Tent. Only a quick drive to Tannersville, Hunter, Windham, Palenville, Woodstock, Phoenicia, Catskill and Saugerties where you can explore the cute town, restaurants, and shops. The site is perched on the banks of the Roaring Kill Stream, perfect for swimming and fishing. There are also lots of flat areas to put additional tents. Great access to the Roaring Kill Trailhead and to the Devil's Path Hiking Trail. If you're looking for some water activities take a short drive to Tinker Town Tube Rental located in Phoenicia, where you will also find a popular local spot, the Phoenicia Diner. Site guidelines Do be careful driving on the dirt jeep track out to the camp. Don't miss swimming in the Roaring Kill Falls. Do leave the campsite just as you found it. "Don't feed the bears." Seriously, do keep a very clean camp. Do ask questions about local activities- swimming holes, hiking, etc. Please take all trash with you, leave no trace!

Moon In The Pond Farm

Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a little bit of heaven. There are six separate sites to choose from. All are in separate, different locations around the farm, so you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be sharing a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. There's the BellTent--a bit of "glamping". And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided) Our campsites are located in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, three others are under the trees on the edges of different farm fields, one is a cabin nearer the farmstead. All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars. During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay. Wanna hike? We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy preserved land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam. Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, off-road, gavel-road and country-road biking, snowshoeing, cc skiing and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away! Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm!! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat! Very nearby, as the Berkshires is an alternative cultural mecca, there are also numerous entertainment opportunities from many great restaurants to art, dance, music, spas, galleries, antique shops, museums, cafes and much more. It's still amazingly quiet at the farm where the Milky Way is clearly visible.
