Our private Sugar Shack is at the end of our blueberry fields and faces the forest. The Sugar Shack sleeps two in a comfy double bed with clean sheets and a fleece blanket. I wash the linens and blanket
in hot water for each and every booking.
Please bring your own extra blankets or sleeping bag if the weather is cold. An additional clean quilt with duvet cover can be added for a $ 10 per booking fee. There is a small porch, a charcoal grill, four chairs, a hammock, a fire ring,
fire wood, clean potable cold water, a solar shower,
and an outhouse. We provide the firewood for the fire ring and we provide charcoal and lighter fluid for the charcoal grill.
There is space available next to Sugar Shack in the field for additional tents or small RVs. (There is no electricity.) The upcharge for additional campers after the first two people is $5 per person per night.
Hiking trails through field and forest start at your door. We have a 3 mile round trip hike to Harlow Brook with a map. We are on the edge of a wildlife corridor and often see deer, coyotes, fox, waterfowl, songbirds and the occasional bear.
(Keep food in your car at night so that the bear does not eat it!)
We are above the Ottauquechee River at North Hartland Lake. We have rentable canoes and a
kayak. We can transport you to and pick you up for a canoe trip on the Connecticut River or to North Hartland Lake..
We are located two miles from Quechee, 7 miles from historic Woodstock to the west, and 7 miles to hip White River Junction to the east and 8 1/2 miles to Dartmouth College and the Appalachian Trail. There are fun casual restaurants with some sit down and take-out nearby and our local Jakes Market can provide you with a nice selection of groceries.
Hot Air Balloon pilots often take off and land in our fields and it is always a magical site. We can connect you with local pilots if you wish to purchase a Balloon Adventure.

This was my second time at the Sugar Shack and it did not disappoint! Marty was a gracious host as usual and the land is beautiful and well cared for. My siblings and I stargazed, had multiple fires using the ample supply of firewood, and enjoyed a few visits from Bluey the dog. On our second morning there, we got to see two hot air balloons launch from the field! It was awesome and Marty checked in with us beforehand to make sure it wouldn't disturb our camping. Highly recommend a visit!

Weekend Trip to Clay Hill Corners Blueberry Farm
We had a great experience camping on this adorable blueberry farm! Our 1 year old French Bulldog, Bruno, perhaps had the best time of all, as he got to become BFFs with the hosts’ sweet dogs, Bluey and Ella. Our favorite moments were watching them run around our campsite and play for hours together.
The sugar shack and the surrounding camp area were private and provided us with everything we could need - a cute little cabin, running water for the sink, solar shower, fire pit, charcoal grill, and trash/recycling receptacles. We really enjoyed how the site was out of sight from the main house but close enough to feel our hosts were at an arm’s length and nearby should we need anything. Marty was super welcoming and helpful, laid out all important instructions as well as ideas for fun outings and activities, both on their land and beyond it. With his help, we took off on a quiet 3 mile kayak trip down the Ottauquechee river where we saw bald eagles and blue herons. At the end, Marty picked us up with the kayaks to drop us back to camp, and even took the time to show us a few extra cool spots for fishing and canoeing. His expertise as a fishing and canoeing guide really shows!
Their land is beautiful and serene, very quiet save for the sounds of nature around you. We got lucky to lounge back and watch the hot air balloons hover over the river and nearby the property both days of our trip!
This was our first experience using HipCamp and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend!!

The island was a beautiful spot. I went with my girlfriend and my seven year-old daughter and what a trip that was. I purchased a 4 hp Evinrude engine to hook up to our canoe to get us and all of our stuff out there we had three dogs and three humans so it was quite a few trips and I Accounted for that ahead of time. To paddle would probably take 5 to 10 minutes, but is an easy ride. Plenty of flat spots to set up a tent. The only thing on the island is a dock and a propane griddle which came in handy so we didn’t have to bring all of our cooking stuff. There is a fire pit already established, but you’ll want to bring Firewood. The island has medium vegetation, cover enough to get a little bit of privacy, but may want to consider bringing a tarp or situating your temp in a certain way as to have privacy to change, etc.. parking is at the public beach. It can be a bit of a bummer coming back bringing your stuff from the beach up the hill, but wasn’t terrible. Recommend bringing a wagon dolly or wheelbarrow to get your stuff down to the water would probably make it easier but definitely wasn’t too bad. There’s a grocery store, Ocean State job law and hardware store not even five minutes down the road if you feel like there’s anything you forgotten all in all would definitely go back. The island was very clean with great wildlife. I never thought we would get used to hearing loons.

Property is great with a nice cozy cabin for indoor campers and a HUGE flat open field with bordering shade for tenters. Adjacent blueberry fields, close-by outhouse, solar shower and wash sink are great adds as is free firewood. Chairs and a charcoal grill with all supplies, and a hammock!. Best of all 2 gracious kind and thoughtful hosts in Carol and Marty who will engage you to ensure you have everything you need. Marty even provided a map to a secluded swimming hole in a forested stream that was absolutely delightful on a hot August day! He also lent me his trekking poles for its steep access trail. Carol offered a workspace setup for my daughter to get some last-minute work done so she could join us sooner!
We all had a great time and will be back this place is at the top of our list!

I loved camping on Duncan Lake! This was a great spot, close to everything (having Hannaford 4 min away for ice & drinking water was very convenient!), the road noise is a little loud but that’s to be expected due to the location. Our dogs loved swimming all day long, kayaking and exploring the island. I already want to come back!

Rae and Mitch have a very sweet home surrounded by beautiful gardens, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The camp site was lovely, secluded and safe. They have an incredible set-up complete with bug tent, cots, and most of the cooking and cleaning supplies you could need. We had all the essential gear with us but were pleasantly surprised by how well equipped the space was. Also noting for any other queer couples traveling through many different spaces: we were very warmly received by Rae and Mitch and so appreciated their welcoming hospitality!

First of all, the host, Angela, had outstanding communication. We booked this last minute due to all camping spots being filled in Franconia, and so glad we did. Every detail has been thought of in the yurt, and the property is so beautiful and relaxing. I could really tell there was thought and effort put into it.
