East of Missoula and northwest of Helena, the community of Lincoln is a good base for exploring the Blackfoot River and the forests and mountains that lie beyond. Its biggest claim to fame is its art park: Blackfoot Pathways: Sculpture in the Wild, which features massive sculptural installations set among expanses of forestland. It's a great place to go for a wander, with plenty to keep kids and adults entertained, without having to stray far from town. For more active adventures, the hiking trails, lakes, and campgrounds of Helena National Forest are just a short jaunt away. The area around Lincoln also has plenty of private camping options, from ranches that welcome tent and RV campers to quiet homesteads with furnished glampsites with bell tents designed to accommodate one party at a time.
