Pine Valley at Dillard Mill

5 sites · Lodging43 acres · Davisville, MO
Pine Valley is located in the heart of the Mark Twain National Forest and sits just a short walk away from historic Dillard Mill. Book the entire Farm or stay in an Airstream or Cottage. Group rentals Welcome! Pine Valley is on 43 acres of beautiful green pasture and woodland. Take a hike on one of the trails around the property or go fishing or wading on the Huzzah Creek. Spend your evening roasting marshmallows around your private campfire. Guests will have access to the 40 acres of land surrounding them. There are two ponds on the premise. Enjoy the quarter-mile walk to the old Dillard Mill Store, displayed in museum fashion at the entrance of Dillard Mill State Historic Site. Tour the old grist mill in working form, fish for sunfish, smallmouth bass and largemouth bass at the Mill, and take memorable photos. Just across from our main entrance take the half-mile trail through Mark Twain National Forest and skip rocks on the Huzzah Creek! Ask us about access to our private gravel bar on the Huzzah. You will pass it, and the private parking, on Dillard Mill Rd on your drive into Pine Valley We may or may not be on the premise during individual rentals. If there are any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out. Other things to note While this space provides most utilities and amenities you'd find at your home, it is important to note it is still a camping-style getaway. We do our best to treat the area, but you will encounter insects. AT&T has limited cell phone reception in the area, Sprint is very spotty, and Verizon is pretty much unavailable for service. We provide the best free wifi available to help with communication back to the real world, but it is rather slow. The best wifi reception is near the General Store/Courtyard. We try and keep the area well maintained. You may see ATVs/tractors on our property and on the gravel road. Pets are welcome for an extra $50 per stay. Please note our dogs may be on the property. They are friendly and well-behaved, although sometimes curious. Other guests may have no-leash pets as well. Park right next to your glamper. Arrive anytime after 4pm, just give us an eta to know when to expect you. If your glamper is not ready upon your arrival, feel free to explore our farm, visit Dillard Mill or head down to the Huzzah while we make it ready for your stay. Self Check-In is always the norm for added privacy. We won't bother you except to wave or maybe say hello if you're out and about. Please feel free to approach us with questions, niceties, or needs.

Wine Country Farm

2 sites · RVs, Tents10 acres · Leslie, MO
Enjoy a stay at our 10 acre horse farm centrally located between 2 popular Missouri Wine Country regions and less than 15 minutes away from antique shops, restaurants, wineries and a conservation lake. The farm is home to our beloved Percheron draft horses, one quarter horse and a little mule that's been in the family for over 25 years. We also raise chickens and have a few barn cats that might show their faces once they're used to your company. (They're very tame, just bashful with strangers.) You're welcome to participate in daily farm activities such as feeding horses, gathering eggs and gardening. You may spread out in the large backyard and set up your games or hang your hammock in the trees and rest amid the relaxing sounds of nature. Speaking of relaxing, there might be times during the weekend when life here on the farm is bustling with activity. We might be getting ready for carriage rides in the morning and returning to the barn to unload horses late in the evening. We may occasionally operate the tractor, chainsaw or some other noisy equipment. In other words, it's not always quite, but it's all part of the farm-stay experience! Located just 2 miles from Highway 50, we're easy to find. And the driveway is suitable for most any size RV or travel trailer. WiFi may be accessible at different parts of the property.

Not Mushroom But She Cute 80 acres

1 site · Lodging80 acres · Steelville, MO
TLDR: seriously remote location with a view of the stars but also a wheelchair accessible curated home. 20ish minutes from swimming holes. We've dubbed this place the Mushroom House because of the seasonal abundance the woods provide. This is a place for nature lovers to bask in the forest and all she has to offer. You can see all the stars! We're fairly close (about 20 minutes) to many swimming holes, floating outfitters, etc. There is a cafe about 5 minutes away. It's a tranquil, remote location. This is a great place for hiking, foraging, plant/fungi/animal ID'ing, forest meditations, relaxing by a fire, working on art, writing, or self-reflection. We have taken over this property to preserve the forest and all the nature within it. We plan to continually improve the site with more wildflowers, food trees, shelter for wildlife, marked hiking trails, etc. The mushroom house and the 80 acres surrounding it are a work in progress. Wheelchair accessible 700 sq ft home with a queen-size bed, a twin pull-out couch, and a queen air mattress. Decor: MO Nature with a touch of vintage charm and maximalism. The mushroom house is about 700 sq ft, fully accessible, and has everything you expect a house to, including wifi. It has a wonderful wrap-around porch on 3 sides with plenty of seating and lounging areas. There is a primitive fire pit area with access to a hose. We ask that fires not happen on very dry, windy days as we are in the middle of the woods. You can hike the 80 acres or just lounge around and watch the wildlife from the porch. Property Rules: ✨Just be respectful and have a great time! ✨Dogs must remain on a leash while outside. This is for their safety. The forest is huge and we don't want anyone getting lost. ✨No smoking or vaping indoors ✨No trespassing on others property. ✨Leave wild animals be. ✨The garden hose must always accompany your bonfire. Please wet the area down before you start your fire. NO FIRES allowed when it's SUPER DRY. We are in the forest. ✨No cutting trees, destroying plants, etc. ✨5mph on driveway for the sake of your car (and the forest creatures). ✨No animal hunting. ✨No shooting. ✨No commercial photography or filming (contact us) ✨The pole barn and RV are off limits. Other Considerations: ✨So we are in the middle of the woods with many creatures. Beyond that there are no locks on cabinets and there are tip hazards, non-baby proofed outlets, etc. There are also bodies of water with no barriers. ✨We have a security camera for the driveway and motion sensors (no video/audio) at entrances Check-In: Anytime after 3pm We can meet you up the road and guide you in OR we can give you an access code - your choice. Check-Out: Anytime before 11am. In general just pick up after yourself. Nothing fancy. Just let us know when you're headed out, Thanks.

Farm camping near St Clair with wifi provided guide

Overview

Heading west out of St. Louis, the endless metro area eventually gives way to suburbs interspersed with woodlands and farmland. The town of St. Clair is just an hour from downtown St. Louis, far from the hustle and bustle, but close enough for easy access. Some visitors never head into the city, instead choosing to head deeper into the Missouri Ozarks hills or to spend time on the Meramec River. If you plan to stop and stay a while, several private RV parks are located nearby, primarily in Stanton and further west, offering free wifi, full hookups, onsite activities, and more.

Where to go

Meramec State Park

The Meramec River snakes a slow trail south of St. Clair. Meramec State Park, 15 minutes southwest of town, provides river access, scenery, and outdoor recreation. Not only can you fish, swim, hike, and paddle in the park, you can also tour a cave. The park’s campground features sites for both tents and RVs, with some offering water/electric and full hookups. A canopy of trees provides shade.

Robertsville State Park

Once a working farm, today, Robertsville State Park is a waterfront retreat along the Meramec River and Calvey Creek. The waters are a hot spot for fishing, boating, and paddling. A small campground offers rustic tent and RV sites with a mixture of dry camping and electric hookups.

Hermann

Less than an hour north of St. Clair, the enchanting town of Hermann feels like it’s in another country, thanks to the German immigrants that settled the region, as well as the unique landscape. Rolling hills suitable for vineyards have given the area its other claim to fame, its wine. Today, visitors come to sample the local vintages, historic architecture, fine foods, and grand landscapes. Private RV parks and public campgrounds can be found across the region. The city park offers campsites for tents and RVs, as do a number of campgrounds operated by state agencies.

When to go

Though summers are humid and hot, visitors can still enjoy the great outdoors, town culture, and historic sites. Spring is usually mild, with a mixture of weather. Fall is a good time to take a scenic drive or to visit the nearby state parks, as Missouri’s forests fill with color. Winter is generally cold and may be snowy or icy. Come prepared for freezing temperatures if you’ll be camping then.
