Take your pick of many lakes surrounding Kansas City for an RV getaway.
RVers have an easy time getting to the Kansas City metropolitan area, which straddles the Missouri-Kansas border and encompasses three interstates: I-29, I-35, and I-70. Kansas City is a sprawling mix of urban and suburban surrounded by rural areas dotted with lakes that make excellent places to park your rig and set up camp. To the north, Smithville Lake has swimming beaches, golf courses, walking trails, boat rentals, and a boat ramp. On the southeastern outskirts of the city, smaller Blue Springs Lake and Lake Jacomo have a marina and walking trails, while to the west, Lake Perry and Clinton Lake are home to Perry State Park and Clinton State Park. You’ll find more water activities and RV campgrounds here. Most RV parks around these lakes offer full hookups and amenities such as picnic tables and grills. Be aware of weather extremes in Missouri and Kansas, from humid heat to snow to tornadoes.
