Moon In The Pond Farm

5 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents35 acres · Sheffield, MA
Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a little bit of heaven. There are six separate sites to choose from. All are in separate, different locations around the farm, so you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be sharing a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. There's the BellTent--a bit of "glamping". And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided) Our campsites are located in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, three others are under the trees on the edges of different farm fields, one is a cabin nearer the farmstead. All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars. During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay. Wanna hike? We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy preserved land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam. Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, off-road, gavel-road and country-road biking, snowshoeing, cc skiing and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away! Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm!! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat! Very nearby, as the Berkshires is an alternative cultural mecca, there are also numerous entertainment opportunities from many great restaurants to art, dance, music, spas, galleries, antique shops, museums, cafes and much more. It's still amazingly quiet at the farm where the Milky Way is clearly visible.

Wequamps Haven Mountain View Site

1 site · RV, Tent40 acres · South Deerfield, MA
Welcome to Wequamps Haven in South Deerfield, with one of the nicest views of Mount Sugarloaf and North Sugarloaf Mountain, which together form the body of Wequamps of the local native legend. We have one camper site available, located on the edge of our 40 acres of protected land. Your site is on the old farm road near open, farmed fields, behind a well settled neighborhood near downtown. It is out of site of the main road and most neighbors, but still close to all the amenities in town. Half the acreage is flat, tillable land currently farmed by local farmers. The rest is pasture and woodland located on the hillside, abutting state park land which is part of Mount Sugarloaf Reservation. The view of the mountains and open farmland is beautiful at any time of year and the hillside pasture is a great place to watch the sun set over the valley below. It is the perfect site if you want a quiet, peaceful place to relax without going too far from civilization. Since it is an in-town location, it is easy to get to, close to I-91 and Routes 5&10. We are centrally located between Northampton, Amherst and Greenfield, which are all a short ride away, along with all the restaurants and attractions they have available. There are plenty of places nearby to walk, hike, bike, fish, kayak and swim so you can take full advantage of all the region has to offer. You may see rabbits, groundhogs, deer, opossum and numerous birds on the property. We have a resident red-tailed hawk and often spot pileated woodpeckers. You may occasionally hear coyotes or owls in the distance. Feel free to stroll the old farm road or enjoy our large backyard and covered patio which are areas we are happy to share as common spaces with our guests. Explore the lush Pioneer Valley or the many hill towns in our cozy western Mass. mountain ranges for all the farm stands, antique shops, historic sites or outdoor activities you could possibly hope for within easy reach. There are too many wonderful sights to see to list here but let us know your areas of interest and we’ll be happy to help you find them. We will provide a small picnic table, trash can and recycling bin. A small fire pit will also be provided with plenty of firewood available for purchase and potable water can be accessed from the garden hose. Come and recharge mentally and physically in serene and calming surroundings or fill your plate with local foods, sights and activities.

Little Mountain Homestead is a 275 year old homestead hugged by two large streams and a large mountain to its east. There is a gaggle of free-ranging chickens and dogs and cats. Because of our livestock and animals outside, we ask that you keep your animals leashed at all times. Our chickens free range and their safety and comfort are our priority and we thank you for understanding. Breathe in the fall leaves, fall asleep to the sounds of Rudd Pond Brook making its way north, the owls cooing, One of Becket’s first 6 houses, carefully restored with so much love in 2021, Little Mountain is our home and sanctuary. Hickory ridge

1 site · RV, Tent85 acres · Deerfield, MA
Our property is 85 very private acres with an open field surrounded by forest and open wooded areas with many trails. The forest is very diverse including some old growth maples and birches, as well as hemlock and pine trees. The campsites are at the edge of the field set back into the woods. I have recently added sand and gravel to improve drainage since the heavy rain we have had this year. We have a portable composting toilet outhouse and a hot outdoor shower. Feel free to explore all of the trails on foot or mountain bike. You may see some turkeys or deer out there. There is a small pond with lots of frogs and salamanders near the camping area, and a few seasonal streams on the property. You can hike a one mile loop on our newest trail. It is medium difficulty because of the hillside it is built on so hiking boots are recommended unless you are on a mountain bike. Rock walls built in the mid 1800s circle the property almost entirely so the borders are easy to see. The Deerfield river is a few miles away where you can fish for trout or go for a swim or kayak. The Connecticut river and the green river are about 15 minutes away as well. We have tubes, a canoe, and a kayak that are available to rent for some floating! Historic Deerfield village and Yankee Candle store and factory are about 10 minutes away. We are about 20 minutes from Northampton and Amherst.

Healers' Headquarters

4 sites · RVs, Tents4 acres · Shelburne Falls, MA
Here, we are carrying out a vision for Global Restoration. This site came through in dreams and prayers. The place to carry out our passions and visions. A place to let our talents rip. Two businesses live here. Mangold Leather, and the World-Repair Nursery. We have been living here since May 2018. Life can be beautiful and easy. Here, we champion Edible Ecological Restoration. Every year the Native Fruit/Nut Nursery grows, and we spread more important plants throughout the northeast. It's time to restore the Earth. Learn more about this land: Come stay in the forests of Shelburne, MA. Our site offers private camping in the woods, and easy-access to meadow, view of a large pond and ever-expanding permaculture gardens. The 'Healers' Headuarters' is our haven, where we grow native Fruit, Nut and Medicine plants, that we sell and use for free public plantings in towns and cities. This is the headquarters where plants are grown for our non-profit planting campaign. Likewise, we run an artisan leather shop, using a roadside barn on site that has been converted into a studio-gallery. Check out our grass-fed bison leather bags, belts, armor and sculptures. It's time to Restore the Earth! It's time for a better world! Here, we are doing the work that we believe in, answering the call to restore our planet and help people, spreading native plants for edible-restoration, while planting a living, edible-ecological model on site! It's time to build a better world. This is our small, experimental space to create and SPREAD the world that we KNOW all can share in the future! Medicines, healing arts, crafts and tasteful projects abound. We are on the path of personal and planetary growth. We invite you to stay a night, or two, or three, safely wrapped in the lively, focused, environment that supports our work. Catch a behind-the-scenes glance of our projects, and a sweet night in nature. For those who want more, consider stopping in for a leather-crafting class, plant workshop, or, invite house-chef to bring you out an incredible raw smoothie or treat.  We are perfectly positioned on Mohawk Trail, a premier destination for art, hiking, and scenic drives. This spot is a straight shot to the famed 'bridge of flowers'. We're 10 min from charming Shelburne Falls. We're en route to MASS MOCA, skiing in the winter, and leaf-peeping in fall. You might be surprised pulling into our little kingdom, to discover that we are so close to a MAJOR ROAD. PLEASE NOTE::: We are ON Mohawk Trail. This high-traffic site allows our work to reach the most people! HOWEVER! If you are sensitive to ROAD PRESENCE, VEHICLE NOISES, PROXIMITY TO TRAFFIC, you might not like this site!!!! That said, as soon as one steps to the back behind the property, it is an oasis. The cars are out of sight (but not sound), and it's nothing but grass, plants, trees, birds, pollinators and life! We do not recommend having any animals off-leash, as he 50mph traffic on RT. 2 is very dangerous for animals. Always do tick checks, and to avoid poison ivy, STAY WITHIN RAILS AND CLEARINGS. We regularly maintain all paths and campsites to be free of poison ivy, but if you wander into unmaintained parts of the forest, you might contact poison ivy. Like any camping in the northeast, bring bug spray too! For travelers, this happens to be a VERY accessible location.
