Continuous Harmony Farm Camp

4 sites · RVs, Tents46 acres · Lincolnville, ME
Continuous Harmony Farm is located on the north side of Camden Hills State Park. When this area was originally settled, the farm was located on the "highway" from Camden to seasonal pastures in Lincolnville. The trails leading to the park still go by the old foundations that dotted the old Government Road from Camden. The farm has 46 acres of flowing pasture, hardwood forest and flower and vegetable gardens. At the heart of the property is a large farm pond that has been used to water livestock for generations. We hope you can visit us soon! Our farm abuts Camden Hills State Park, offering dozens of miles of trails for hiking and biking. Farm activities include looking after our flock of Katahdin sheep, laying hens, bee hives and vegetable and flower gardens. Activities nearby include rock climbing, boating, horseback riding, paddle boarding and swimming.Learn more about this land:Continuous Harmony Farm Campsite is located under a great old white ash tree beside a large farm pond on 46 acres of sheep meadow, forest and fields. Tir na nOg Farm

6 sites · Lodging, Tents30 acres · Pownal, ME
Highland cattle graze at the forest's edge on our Celtic-heritage farm: a gentle retreat with options for woodland wandering, farm-fresh breakfasts (weekdays only, must be requested one week in advance), and campfires complete with traditional Gaelic music! Our 40-acre farm includes heritage-breed animals, organic gardens, and over 30 acres of conservation woodlands. We favor scythes over tractors--your stay will be quiet and fume-free! Bradbury Mountain and several trail networks are nearby, along with rivers, ocean beaches, and an excellent locavore food scene. Since the early 1800s, this land on the edge of Chandler Brook has nourished bodies and spirits alike. Sloping pastures meet well-managed woodlands, making this a haven for both humans and wildlife. Since the 1980s, we have worked to restore the soil and make a "hand-built" life as farmers using pre-industrial organic methods. We maintain pollinator habitats, tend an orchard of heirloom-variety fruit trees, and conserve rare heritage-breed animals, including Tamworth pigs and Scottish Highland Cattle. Our shared love for Celtic folk culture has blended naturally with our love of sustainable agriculture to create Tir na nOg Farm. Today, the work of restoration continues with the help of farm partners, family, friends, WWOOFers, and other volunteers. This land is already better than we found it, but we hope it will remain a gathering-ground of culture and agriculture, tradition and innovation for generations to come.

Spotted Soul Farm dogs welcome!

1 site · RV, Tent70 acres · Norway, ME
We (me and my dogs) moved up here from Boston last year and are enjoying all the sounds of nature, woods walks and mountain views and we hope you will too! Learn more about this land: The 10 acre field is open, partially mowed & offers apples in the fall! The view of the mountain is really nice. Enjoy the fire pit or walk through the 60 acres of woods.  Please note, my house is located on the road, in the front corner of the field.  It is possible to camp in the field a spot such that you do not have to see my house.  You can also camp just behind the field in maple trees (there's a clear path).  The other option is to walk into the back back woods and fashion yourself a place to camp if you are feeling a bit more rugged / adventurous - there are paths but they are not newly installed / groomed (originally created for logging activities a long time ago so - rugged).  There's a brook at the far side of my property which goes all along the back edge. Nearby Norway Lake is great for swimming, boating, kayaking, etc (public boat launch is an easy drive). This is a great place for road running as well (or road biking if you can handle the hills).  Note that the field is a field; there's no road laid in.  I can drive into fine in my Sienna but if you have a really low car you might have to walk it. This is rustic camping!  There's no electricity or running water.  I can provide a 5 gal jug of spring water for drinking / fire dousing (please let me know in advance if you will need this so I can go to the spring).  If you are not self contained in terms of bathroom, you are welcome to use my guest bath inside (just have to text me) You should have full cell signal in the middle of the field and in the high points in the back woods (but definitely it drops out in the lower points).  There is a barn that is occasionally available for eating / camping; there is electricity & wifi in there as well as lights and tables.  There's an extra charge for this & please inquire about availability.    Also, very dog friendly - please bring your dogs! Let me know if you'd like me to leave some snow fencing out for you to fashion a bit of an enclosed area. I have some agility equipment & all kinds of mushing equipment if your pup might be interested.  Happy to do mini demos / lessons for a small extra fee.  I have a spare GPS set up that can be rented while you are onsite.  Can also offer dog sitting if you want to go out to dinner / etc and not bring your pup.

Coastal Mountain Ocean View Retreat

2 sites · Tents17 acres · Rockport, ME
High on a coastal mountain shoulder in MidCoast Maine, you will find pristine land, sweeping views, views of islands and Acadia National Park’s peaks. There are unobstructed views of coastal mountains all around you for all 360 degrees. You will enjoy complete privacy, wild blueberry undergrowth, rocks and lichen, mossy groves, grassy meadows, deer trails, young mixed forest. You may see Eagles flying at eye level. This is sacred land, stewarded with an awareness of the Ancestors of the People whose original Territory it is, the Wawenok (Walinakiak) Abenaki. Thus it is kept as a peaceful sanctuary and has hosted traditional Indigenous Elders and spiritual leaders of the Wabanaki Tribes of Maine and others for ceremonial purposes. It was previously owned for forty years by a couple who were hoping to develop it, but I made up my mind when I first set foot in 2007 that I would protect this land; and the couple who were now very aged were delighted that we would steward it in a thoughtful way. Currently there are no facilities; but that will change, and your contributions will help to build them in a sustainable way, fully conscious of how this land must remain the pristine sanctuary that it is now; all while helping provide easier access to grassroots spiritual Elders; and the opportunity to shelter them in that environment, with everything they might need to do so. I hope you will take advantage of this unique opportunity to enjoy a magnificent and very sacred place, on the (southermost and) westernmost coastal mountain directly on the East Coast of North America (Turtle Island)
