High on a coastal mountain shoulder in MidCoast Maine, you will find pristine land, sweeping views, views of islands and Acadia National Park’s peaks. There are unobstructed views of coastal mountains all around you for all 360 degrees. You will enjoy complete privacy, wild blueberry undergrowth, rocks and lichen, mossy groves, grassy meadows, deer trails, young mixed forest. You may see Eagles flying at eye level. This is sacred land, stewarded with an awareness of the Ancestors of the People whose original Territory it is, the Wawenok (Walinakiak) Abenaki. Thus it is kept as a peaceful sanctuary and has hosted traditional Indigenous Elders and spiritual leaders of the Wabanaki Tribes of Maine and others for ceremonial purposes. It was previously owned for forty years by a couple who were hoping to develop it, but I made up my mind when I first set foot in 2007 that I would protect this land; and the couple who were now very aged were delighted that we would steward it in a thoughtful way. Currently there are no facilities; but that will change, and your contributions will help to build them in a sustainable way, fully conscious of how this land must remain the pristine sanctuary that it is now; all while helping provide easier access to grassroots spiritual Elders; and the opportunity to shelter them in that environment, with everything they might need to do so. I hope you will take advantage of this unique opportunity to enjoy a magnificent and very sacred place, on the (southermost and) westernmost coastal mountain directly on the East Coast of North America (Turtle Island)Tent Site 1 is dispersed camping you may select from a variety of options.
