Sunflower Ranch Camping

1 site · Lodging4 acres · Ellsworth, ME
Sunflower Ranch is the name of our home and property. Not only is our cozy, modest house sunflower yellow but in August it is surrounded with sunflowers of all sizes. We share our property with a flock of sweet hens and ducks.....and a few bossy roosters. Eggs are available for purchase if needed. There is a little greenhouse with herbs, greens and strawberries. The field is also an apple orchard that mostly feeds the wildlife. The tent site is privately placed in our cove unseen from the house. We wanted to offer a site that we would enjoy as well and feels like it is in a world of its own. We spend all of our free time outside, camping and paddling the local rivers and lakes. Tommy and I can recommend many beautiful remote Maine adventures for you to experience that are located off the grid and away from all other humans. The sweet city of Ellsworth is only 7 miles away for all of your provisions and Otis General Store is 1 mile away.. they have everything to get you through plus beer, wine, ice and homemade pizza. We can give you a pass to visit the Beech Hill Pond Beach also only 1 mile away (I walk there all the time) which has clear water and a sandy bottom. Great spot to spend the day sunbathing and swimming. I can offer yoga, personal training, boxing and paddleboard lessons or SUP yoga for some onsite physical fitness fun upon request. Learn more about this land: 16 by 12 ft A-Frame on a platform overlooking our private cove on Graham Lake.  Walk through the forest trail to the Beech Hill Pond Stream and find a private little swim spot under a mini waterfall . Great fishing, loon watching, eagles and herons. Enjoy paddling and exploring right from your tent site. Bird watching bliss! Very peaceful and quiet. Canoe or 2 kayaks included.

9 Acre Woods

9 sites · RVs, Tents9 acres · Montville, ME
We are proud to share this piece of Montville Maine land, which was the original home of Haystack Mountain School of Arts in the 1950's, a renowned Art school, where potters, painters, woodworkers, and others would come spend summers in communal art studios to perfect their craft! It was the first Art school that taught Raku style pottery in the USA. Serindipidiously, it is now owned by Colette Shumate-Smith- a Raku artist and painter that has spent her life both learning and teaching her craft!   Located along State Rt 3, between Augusta and Belfast, you will drive through gorgeous rolling hills, and soak in some amazing views to get here!! Upon arrival you will notice the picturesque field that over looks a quaint mountain view from the valley! Sunsets are unbeatable each day, and each night you can fall asleep under a beautiful bright Milky Way!   Strap on your boots and take a little hike on the property to a waterfall *overlook* in the middle of the woods!      This pine woods property is magical on it's own, but in a perfect location for day trips to explore the area!  Check out all Midcoast Maine has to offer, whether you like a day of shopping and a fine meal- or to lose yourself for a day of hiking, biking, kayaking- whatever your pleasure!  9 acre woods is close to Lake st. George, Liberty village, the coast of Belfast, and the China Lakes Region.  A day trip by car to Acadia National Forest, Bar Harbor, or other roadside Maine stops is at your fingertips!    Ask us about our favorite local gems that you shouldn't miss!

ABOUT THE LAND: Our field is 4 acres of rolling hills surrounded by 40 acres of undeveloped, thick forest with Thurlow Brook winding throughout the forest. The brook flows at different speeds and heights depending on the time of year. Our farmhouse sits on 2 acres with a barn, pear/apple trees, a large raspberry bush and large pond. You are welcome to explore the undeveloped 40 forested acres, brook and small waterfall, but use caution and common sense as there are many tripping hazards, a flowing brook and slippery rocks. We are conveniently located between several cool spots to explore: 14 minutes to Winterport - winery, historic downtown, River waterfront 17 minutes from Bangor - concerts, shopping, restaurants, venues 20 minutes to Tattooed Dad Brewery in Jackson w/ live music. 27 minutes to Unity - Common Grounds Festival, Amish Store and Butcher Shop, 32 minutes to Bucksport - named USA Today’s #1 Seaside Small Town in 2021, Fort Knox, festivals, Penobscot Narrows Bridge, waterfront views 35 minutes to Belfast - small coastal town w/ shops, great food, ocean views, festivals, year-round farmers market ABOUT THE CAMPSITES: We have 6 designated campsites on the 4 acre field. Car camping, van life, RVs and tents are welcome! We have three sites along the tree lined Highway 202, and three sites on different elevations of the field. A tent can be set up anywhere in the undeveloped forest and does not need to be in the designated campsite area. However, no campfires are allowed in the forest. If you choose to pitch a tent in the forest, we recommend staying between the field and brook to avoid getting lost. Please be ready to be self-sufficient and sustainable in any weather. No water/electric hook ups. Campfires are allowed in your portable campfire pit. Firewood is available for purchase on-site and is on the honor system. We are pet friendly. You are welcome to explore the forest and brook, but use caution and common sense, as this is thick, undeveloped forestland with many tripping hazards, flowing water and slippery rocks. Any hours coming and going are fine! Feel free to reach out with any questions. Enjoy a peaceful stay.
