Camping near Alexandria guide

Overview

On the banks of Red River, Alexandria is a small, tight-knit city that provides ample opportunities for camping nearby. Head north to Kisatchie National Forest, where over 604,000 acres of dense woodland offer hiking, horseback riding, and scenic drives. Stay at a tent or RV site in the area featuring flushing toilets, fire rings, and dump stations. Winter campers may want to reserve a cabin rental in the forest that has cozy furnishings and free wifi. Head south to Chicot State Park to revel in rolling hills and swim in Lake Chicot. Choose a tent, RV, or trailer site nearby with electrical and water hookups, a barbecue grill, and hot showers, or stay in a cabin in the state park with linens, cooking utensils, and comfortable beds. For more forested accommodations, try Homochitto National Forest. Hike along Clear Springs Trail or paddle across Okhissa Lake before finding a tent site that provides bathroom facilities, picnic tables, and firepits.
