    We live on a 19 acre hobby farm with chickens, ducks, a goose, a pig and a pair of sheep and miniature donkeys. There is a pond full of frogs and turtles. We have a swimming pool that we share with guests. We have a tree house with nature games and books, a wildflower labyrinth, a creek and about 3/4 mile of trails in the woods. We are located very near several conservation areas with extensive hiking opportunities (Rock Springs and Sand Creek). Decatur has a water park (Splash Cove) and Overlook Adventure Park has batting cages, miniature golf and a ropes course. The Children's Museum of IL and Scovill Zoo are also fun for the kids. The Decatur Wellness Collective is located nearby and offers massage, yoga, meditation, reiki and Float therapy. There are also several local breweries (Door 4 Brewing, Decatur Brew Works and Golden Fox Brewing). We are certain that you will enjoy your stay here!

    We are originally from Northern California. We are enjoying our expansive farm with all it's fresh air, fresh food, plants, animals, and fun events. We enjoy time relaxing in hammocks and letting the world pass us by. Bring your family out to enjoy all the farm has to offer, or take advantage of the serenity and privacy! Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent near the creek (site 1) in a completely private site (kids can sleep in the truck bed topper or fort if they'd like) or on the field to the side of the house (site 2) for a semi-private spot nearest to the bathroom and with a wood chip drive entrance for larger vehicles or (site 3) a semi- private spot down by the creek and the hay bales to the left of the house.  (Or pick a spot of your choosing).  Enjoy the farm animals, walk the property, build a fire, and enjoy the outdoors! There are more animals to pet from April through October (typically we have bunnies, chickens, sheep, cats, dogs, alpacas, miniature horses, horses, pig, goat, etc.).  In the winter the horses, alpacas, chickens, dogs, cats and sometimes bunnies are available to visit.  Firewood bundles available for $10 The creek at times is swimmable, other times it's walkable, and sometimes in the heat of July it's very shallow. There is a state park (Ft. Daniel) less than 5 minutes away and others a bit further (Spitler or Sand Creek) Horseback riding may be available upon request - $25.00 per person or $50.00 per family.  There is a large shaded playground in the front yard for the kids with a trampoline, small zip line, ninja line, slack line, silks, climbing dome, hammocks, etc. BATHROOM: If you are looking at the house from the street, the bathroom is on the right of the house, attached to the house. It is a small shed looking building and is pictured. It has a toilet and running hot and cold water.

    I grew up on a farm and thrilled to be enjoying country living once again! We are not annual campground, but we have space on the property for travelers needing an overnight or two. We can be found on HIPCAMP listed under OLD RUGGED BARN. We are in central IL near Historic Rt 66, minutes north of Bloomington-Normal with easy access from I-55. The property is a small 3.5 Acre farmstead that includes our event venue, space that can used for campers, and my home. We offer space for Campers through Hipcamp. We are NOT a campground per se. We do have space on our property to comfortably accommodate up to 8 spaces for Overnight guests. I moved to the farm in 2010 with the intent to simply enjoy the peace And quiet of country living. Then I realized we Could create a place that could serve as a place for community to gather for special events. We are making constant strides to utilize Our 3.5 acres highlighted by the Old Rugged Barn venue and welcome the opportunity to host any kind of public and private event! The Old Rugged Barn..... where happy happens!!

For those not ready to take on such a rustic sleeping arrangement, we have a camper available for rent that sleeps between 6-9 people. Or you can bring your own. What does our farm have to offer that you can not get most anywhere else, is the option of an experience. Come have a meal cooked over the open fire. Bake bread or cookies, you can even mill your own wheat! Our wheat has been in the family for generations, and we've been told is the softest and tastiest bread around (try it with our homemade apple butter!) Take a ride on our customized wagon. Where we pop open a table for you to enjoy a picnic with sunset views. Or stop by and say hello to the horses on our well loved buggy rides. Bring your bicycles along and take a trip into town. There are wonderful shops with homemade goodies. Looking for handcrafted furniture, antiques, or just an enjoyable walk around town as buggies go by it's all just a ride away. Do you love animals and adventure? Aikman wildlife is right down the road, and the animals are always excited for visitors to come on by for an interaction you will never forget. We are accustom to our more relaxed pace of life, and we want to share that with others. This also means that we do not have a phone in our home.     When you first come into the property there's a pin on your left that has goats in it I have chickens guineas peacocks turkeys that were free range in the big pasture I have Buffalo a camel regular cattle in the little pasture have miniature donkeys and a Beefalo and then in the back where the primitive camping can be there's also whitetail deer and wild turkey at times we're close to Sangchris Lake South Fork dirt riders Taylorville Lake about 3 mi into Taylorville there's grocery stores

    We purchased our 45 acre farm in 1997, since then we have operated a sustainable small organic farm. In January of 2018 we purchased 58 more acres that is attached to our land. The property has a greenhouse, high tunnel and about a half acre of field that we raise vegetables and fruit on. We have a 3 acre pond with a naturally sustaining fish population, that we swim and boat in. There are hiking trails that go through many small pastures and woods with streams running through them. Plenty of wildlife, hiking and mountain biking areas. We have a certified kitchen at the farm and have products raised and/or made on the farm for folks to purchase. Supposedly our house is haunted and there are a couple of haunted sites within 15 miles of the farm. Nearby Taylorville has a Walmart, Aldi, Kroger, and many small local businesses. There is a YMCA and a few parks. Lake Sangchris State Park is close by. The capital of Illinois, Springfield is 35 miles from the farm.
