Taste of Old Florida

13 sites · RVs, Tents10 acres · Palm City, FL
A small but unique piece of land that was given to a family in the 1920s by the Florida Railroad Company. It stayed in the family until we purchased it. It is unique because the surrounding area does not have much tree coverage. This is due to the ground underneath, which is a vein of grey marl. This is why the area is called the Allapattah (an Indian word for Alligator) Flats. We are hoping that our county stays the way it is so people will know what Old Florida really looks like. Minutes from I-95, but surrounded by the Allapattah Flats Wildlife Management Preserve. Located on Martin Hwy, which was recently designated as a Florida Scenic Hwy. Fifteen minutes to Stuart and thirty minutes to West Palm Beach, a world away from the hustle and bustle. We realize that people also love Florida for Disney and tropical paradises but if that is what you want than this may not be your kind of place.

Park~like open setting w/lake view

4 sites · RVs, Tents1 acre · Port Salerno, FL
Greetings Hipcampers! Thank you for considering your camping adventures, we look forward to welcoming you! Here’s some information about the general area. If you don’t need it, just skip down to the “About us” section. Our property is located in the Sailfish capital of the country in the heart of Historic Port Salerno/Stuart Florida. World class deep sea fishing, boating, and some of the finest seafood restaurants on the east coast are less a mile away. We’re just 5 miles from downtown Stuart on the Inland waterway that offers a lovely walkable downtown where you will find a theater, unique art studios, interesting and unique craft and clothing shops, and numerous restaurants offering everything from vegan and vegetarian options, to pizza, steak, and local seafood. If you’re looking for fast food franchises in the downtown areas, you’ll need to look elsewhere! Only 11 miles from Jonathan Dickinson State Park known for it's expansive scrub and wildlife habitat, you will find excellent hiking, birding, and great bicycling (on and off road) trails as well as kayaking adventures through the mangroves. Kayak and bicycle rentals are available near the launch site. Daily excursions are also available from the launch site to the infamous legend Trapper Nelson’s hideaway. A must do for adventurous types who appreciate legends and creative off grid living. We are nestled in a bird paradise in a quiet park-like setting located on the edge of a beautiful Lake at the end of a dead end road. The location offers a natural walking path with foot bridges around the lake. Our property is off the beaten path but has very easy accessibility to all major roads including interstate 95. Grocery stores, Walmart, gas stations all within a mile or two. Our camp sites provide you a peaceful stay while still being close to all you seek. This location makes for a great stop over or destination spot. About us: This tent camp can accommodate truck camper, a pull behind, Van camper, or a ground pitched tent. What you can expect to find: The surface of the tent site is mostly flat with a mix of grassy and sandy type soil usually with some covering of native pine needles. Our 1/2 acre property is naturally-forested with towering eastern slash pines and palm trees, and several fruit trees. Guests will wake in the morning to the lovely site and peaceful sounds of the mostly year round residents including pileated &red-bellied woodpeckers, black vultures, raccoons, egrets, ibis, hawks, quaker parrots, herons, bluejays, grackles, crows, lizards, mourning doves, gray squirrels, owls, hawks, and occasional sightings of iguanas and turtles. We’ve yet to see an alligator here! Let us know if you spot one! Nights tend to be dark and quiet by the lake offering a world away from the hustle and bustle with minimal traffic noise. A train can sometimes be heard in the distance. We are family and pet friendly provided your pet is too! Please be respectful and responsible in bringing along a leash and your own pet waste bags. Please pack out what you pack in. There is either a porta potty or a compost toilet near the tent site. Please be aware it is a compost porta-potty type and is located within its own small tent structure. Be sure you understand that this is definitely not a flush toilet. We don’t want you to be disappointed. You will be asked to cover your deposits with the sawdust and mulch material provided. electricity for charging small devices is available along with city/potable water from a hose located about 50' from the campsite. Please, no generators. There is no wifi but cell reception tends to be very good. We do not currently have an outdoor kitchen or cooking utensils so please remember to bring your own supplies. Smoking is permitted. Please advise host in advance so that we can provide an appropriate container to safely extinguish cigarettes. Please be considerate of neighbors when enjoying your music. Thank you! Check in time is about 2pm but very flexible depending upon availability. Check out is noon unless prior arrangements are made. We will happily answer any questions or concerns you may have upon arriving and then we’ll respect your privacy and solitude unless you desire more interaction. We look forward to your arrival! Welcome to Port Salerno.

La Bougainvillea is the perfect place for a pleasant vacation in the tranquility of the countryside but close to the beach, city and shopping. Escape from your day to day and make some memories at this unique and family-friendly place located in this gem area called Florida Treasure Coast. You will enjoy all the sights and sounds of farm while easy reach to city life and beautiful beaches. Located within 2 hours north of Miami and 2 hours south of Orlando, best of Florida's larger attractions.La Bougainvillea is 520 square feet guess suite with an independent entrance attached to the main house (where actual owners and dogs live at) with plenty of outdoor space for you to enjoy. The room has an open concept with a main area where there is a super comfy Queen side bed plus a Twin size sofa bed for an extra guess or kid.PLEASE READ before choosing La Bougainvillea as your place to stay: We have 3 super friendly dogs in the premises and they will be super happy to see you and say hi to you, this is a 5 acre property and the dogs are usually running around the whole area and most likely you will encounter them more than once, treats are always welcome for them and they will love you for that. Remember this property is located in the country side of Palm City and even when we have a very good pest control, sometimes you can have an encounter with different critters and animals as coyotes, raccoons, snakes, chickens, hawks, lizards, armadillos, possums among other things. Our property runs on well water and even when we have an excellent 4 stages filtration system, there is sometimes an odor and/or color associated with this specially in raining season. We assure you the water is good and safe for drinking, cooking, bathing, and washing as per mentioned before it runs through a multistage filtration and softening system. We have within the property our own business which is an exclusive and private classic car restoration shop and sometimes noise and other vehicles can be heard or seen. It is also a nice opportunity to see the restoration process and sometimes the final cool looking restored vehicles.Due that we are in the countryside, our internet is Satellite, so it is not as fast as in the city but yes we do have WiFi and you can stream basically anything with a little bit of patience.
