Go lake camping on the quiet side of Rocky Mountain National Park.
Rocky Mountain National Park brings millions of visitors to central Colorado each year, with many opting to camp on the east side of the park. But a little known secret? The west side is just as cool—and much quieter. Though Granby is a bit further from park gates, it has a unique vibe all its own and offers lake camping opportunities. Camp on the shores of Lake Granby, with towering pines and snow-capped peaks rising above the sapphire waters, or try one of many campgrounds and dispersed campsites in the Arapaho National Forest to find lake views for dry campers. Deeper in White River National Forest, you'll find rustic waterfront campsites, many with picnic tables, fire rings, and space for RVs and campervans. North of Lake Granby, Grand Lake is another popular gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. A number of private RV parks, including some with lakes and ponds, provide camping and glamping sites with amenities across the region.
