A safe place to sleep is what we are all about. We know how hard it is to find an affordable, safe, convenient place to park your RV or van overnight, since camping is not allowed in Steamboat Springs! Where are you supposed to park your RV when the campgrounds are full? We are offering a large, flat parking area in front of our big red barn, conveniently located off Hwy 131, just 10 paved miles from the ski area. The views are beautiful! The animals, which will be roaming freely around the ranch. Feel free to relax and enjoy the beautiful sunsets, in your safe spot by the barn, away from the house. You MUST have your own toilet facilities. Our property borders Highway 131 on the north for easy access year-round. From this site you can hear Oak Creek flowing and you may occasionally see a coal train which runs along the creek. Due to the easy highway access, you will hear traffic when cars go by. We are surrounded by gravel roads, great for gravel bikes. Our animals free-roam in the summer and hang out by the barn in the winter. You may smell animal poo. You may hear chickens cluck. You are welcome to feed the alpacas grain if you wish. We will leave some out for you. The spotted donkey loves kids and loves to be pet, but they shouldn't be fed grain because they'll get too fat. If the animals are out in the pasture, you may venture out there to say hello. Please use common sense and don't scream, chase or tease the animals in any way. And for Pete's sake, close the gate behind you! We don't want animals running away! The stars at night are amazing and on any clear night you can see the milky way! The driveway and site has a dirt/gravel mixture and is snow covered from October - April. May is muddy! Access to Steamboat is extremely easy and about 10 minutes away. Stagecoach Reservoir is about 10 minutes away, too. Baker's Acres really is a great location. You will not be disappointed. NOTE: Dogs and alpacas typically don't mix and a loose dog may get stomped if an alpaca feels threatened. Also note that wild animals such as coyotes, fox, mountain lions, wolves, bears, hawks, eagles, elk, deer, skunk and others also live in this area. FIRE: There are no fires allowed at Baker’s Acres. The House where we live is the corner stone of the Bruce Property and is on the Colorado Register of Historic Houses.The residence was constructed between 1905 and 1912, using red bricks made on the site. John and Sophia Bruce, early pioneers in the North Fork Valley, were first involved in cattle raising. The family later became successful fruit growers. Located along the West Elk Loop, a Colorado Scenic and Historic Byway, the large two-story residence features a steeply pitched hipped roof with prominent attic dormers.As a guest of Riverwalk you will have full access to the river during your stay. In addition, there is the Riverwalk Trail System that skirts the North Fork of the Gunnison River from the top of the property, by the Riverwalk Yurt, (available on this site) meandering downstream past the Riverwalk TIPI (available on the site) passing the Grove Yurt (available on this site) and terminating at the bottom of the property with the sandy Riverwalk Beach. Harmony Ridge Farm

We purchase the land in 2010 with the hopes of building our dream home. We would come out and camp on weekends and soon built a small cabin from reclaimed materials. This barn style cabin is available to our tent camper when the weather is inclement so you can relax outside your tent...The west side opens up onto a deck with picnic table to provide sun/rain shade. In 2012 we were given a 12x20 ft addition to a mobile home that formed the basis of "the cottage" that we lived in "little house on the prairie" style for 2 years while we built our home from trees my husband cut down and processed on his portable sawmill. It took 2 years to build our home with the help of our 15 year old grandson and his friend who were taking a construction technology class for their homeschooling education. Other friends and family helped on occasion and we were finally able to move in just before Christmas 2014. In 2019 we started with Hipcamp providing rustic campsites and our little cottage. in 2021 our son moved into the cottage which made it unavailable for campers so this past year we got another bright idea and the "Tree House" was conceived and built! Come enjoy the incredible view from this little house in the trees! Queen sized bed, (you provide the bedding), camp chef propane stove (outdoors) and tiny wood burning stove inside to take off the morning chill! We sold the sawmill to our architect who is building his own home in Wyoming. What do we do with the large awning we put over the sawmill? How about another small cabin? This is a very rustic cabin with no real amenities other than two bed platforms where you must provide your mattress and sleeping bags. The bunk has a unique ladder and the views of Pikes Peak are awesome! Enjoy the gentle humming of the alpaca's as they greet you in the mornings or whenever. Our 9 alpaca's are friendly and very curious. The boys enjoy showing their stuff whenever we have guests! Come and get acquainted. We also have two guard dogs; 3 cats and 4 kitties--soon to be leaving; one rooster, 13 chickens. The sounds of the birds, cows in the meadow, early morning visits from the local deer and antelope herds; a star studded night sky while the trees whisper you to sleep at night . Incredible views of Pikes Peak, Longs Peak and Mount Evans on a clear day. Beautiful Colorado Sunrises and Sunsets! We hope for green pastures and wildflowers this spring/summer! Relax and read; play a few rounds of horse shoes; take a nice long walk around the perimeter of the property and get your miles in...

Florissant Fossil Beds Natl Monument is 7 miles away, with a Night Sky program, at every new moon. Plenty of winter activities … Ice skating on the lake, Snowshoeing and cross country sking in Pike National Forest only 2 miles away. Florissant Mercantile is 5 miles away, for your needed supplies. Accessing the campsite is an off-road adventure. Please only book if you are comfortable with off-road driving. As you arrive, you'll be greeted by the untouched beauty of the Rocky Mountains and the sound of a nearby stream. The campground is surrounded by towering pine trees and a variety of wildlife (moose, deer, elk, turkeys and black bear), providing a peaceful and serene atmosphere. Prospector’s Rush campground offers tent sites and RV sites, each with plenty of space for campers to spread out and enjoy the natural surroundings. While we do not have running water on site, we do have a pit toilet. This is a true camping experience, allowing you to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life and immerse yourself in the simplicity of nature. As you explore the area, you'll discover remnants of the old mining operation, including abandoned mineshafts. You can also hike the nearby trails, or simply relax and enjoy the beauty of the starry night sky. This 26 acre ranch has rolling hills, flat pasture land, corrals, an historic red barn, sage brush and a family of rescue animals that currently includes chickens, alpacas, and 3 mini donkeys. A safe place to sleep is what we are all about. We know how hard it is to find an affordable, safe, convenient place to park your RV or van overnight, since camping is not allowed in Steamboat Springs! Where are you supposed to park your RV when the campgrounds are full? We are offering a large, flat parking area in front of our big red barn, conveniently located off Hwy 131, just 10 paved miles from the ski area. The views are beautiful! The animals, which will be roaming freely around the ranch. Feel free to relax and enjoy the beautiful sunsets, in your safe spot by the barn, away from the house. You MUST have your own toilet facilities. Our property borders Highway 131 on the north for easy access year-round. From this site you can hear Oak Creek flowing and you may occasionally see a coal train which runs along the creek. Due to the easy highway access, you will hear traffic when cars go by. We are surrounded by gravel roads, great for gravel bikes. Our animals free-roam in the summer and hang out by the barn in the winter. You may smell animal poo. You may hear chickens cluck. You are welcome to feed the alpacas grain if you wish. We will leave some out for you. The spotted donkey loves kids and loves to be pet, but they shouldn't be fed grain because they'll get too fat. If the animals are out in the pasture, you may venture out there to say hello. Please use common sense and don't scream, chase or tease the animals in any way. And for Pete's sake, close the gate behind you! We don't want animals running away! The stars at night are amazing and on any clear night you can see the milky way! The driveway and site has a dirt/gravel mixture and is snow covered from October - April. May is muddy! Access to Steamboat is extremely easy and about 10 minutes away. Stagecoach Reservoir is about 10 minutes away, too. Baker's Acres really is a great location. You will not be disappointed. NOTE: Dogs and alpacas typically don't mix and a loose dog may get stomped if an alpaca feels threatened. Also note that wild animals such as coyotes, fox, mountain lions, wolves, bears, hawks, eagles, elk, deer, skunk and others also live in this area. FIRE: There are no fires allowed at Baker’s Acres. All cigarettes must be disposed of properly. Prevent forest fires!

No matter what, you can fall asleep to the sound of the river after a great night of star gazing! Nearby outdoor points of interest include the Dolores River on property, Hanging Flume which is approx. 20 miles from site, Gateway Canyons Resort Auto museum 7 miles from site, Arches National Park 2 hour drive from site, Colorado national monument 1 hour drive. The Grand Mesa 2 hour drive, Telluride ski resort 2 hour drive! You can find hiking, biking, swimming, paddle board, kayaks, rafting, fishing, tubing, bird watching, star gazing rock climbing, bouldering, all right from the property. All sites are accessible without 4wheel drive. I love where I live and think everyone should be able to experience the peaceful quiet beautiful environment that it is!

We purchase the land in 2010 with the hopes of building our dream home. We would come out and camp on weekends and soon built a small cabin from reclaimed materials. This barn style cabin is available to our tent camper when the weather is inclement so you can relax outside your tent...The west side opens up onto a deck with picnic table to provide sun/rain shade. In 2012 we were given a 12x20 ft addition to a mobile home that formed the basis of "the cottage" that we lived in "little house on the prairie" style for 2 years while we built our home from trees my husband cut down and processed on his portable sawmill. It took 2 years to build our home with the help of our 15 year old grandson and his friend who were taking a construction technology class for their homeschooling education. Other friends and family helped on occasion and we were finally able to move in just before Christmas 2014. In 2019 we started with Hipcamp providing rustic campsites and our little cottage. in 2021 our son moved into the cottage which made it unavailable for campers so this past year we got another bright idea and the "Tree House" was conceived and built! Come enjoy the incredible view from this little house in the trees! Queen sized bed, (you provide the bedding), camp chef propane stove (outdoors) and tiny wood burning stove inside to take off the morning chill! We sold the sawmill to our architect who is building his own home in Wyoming. What do we do with the large awning we put over the sawmill? How about another small cabin? This is a very rustic cabin with no real amenities other than two bed platforms where you must provide your mattress and sleeping bags. The bunk has a unique ladder and the views of Pikes Peak are awesome! Enjoy the gentle humming of the alpaca's as they greet you in the mornings or whenever. Our 9 alpaca's are friendly and very curious. The boys enjoy showing their stuff whenever we have guests! Come and get acquainted. We also have two guard dogs; 3 cats and 4 kitties--soon to be leaving; one rooster, 13 chickens. The sounds of the birds, cows in the meadow, early morning visits from the local deer and antelope herds; a star studded night sky while the trees whisper you to sleep at night . Incredible views of Pikes Peak, Longs Peak and Mount Evans on a clear day. Beautiful Colorado Sunrises and Sunsets! We hope for green pastures and wildflowers this spring/summer! Relax and read; play a few rounds of horse shoes; take a nice long walk around the perimeter of the property and get your miles in...

One of the Snowbird campsites, along the Timber Lake trail. It was very well maintained. A bull moose walked through my campsite, twice! This is the closest campground to Timber Lake (1/4 mile up the trail) and is very convenient for a dayhike up Mount Ida.
