There is a walk down the hill to a tunnel under the highway that takes you to a small pond above the ocean. Many creeks and remote walks.

We bought this piece of property in 2016 - not because of the Main House, not because of the detached In-law unit, but because this sweet tiny unfinished structure tucked into the trees was screaming to be turned into something fantastic!  It became our passion project - and we build it out by insulating, sheet-rocking and adding on this dream bathroom with the vision of creating a truly special space in the trees!

4 nights at Ridge Retreat

The cabin was very cozy and was what we were looking for. ~15 min to dtown Mendocino, and Albion has its own small grocery store nearby. It feels very woodsy and quiet, and the trail the property connects to goes out quite far into nature. So many mushrooms! Used the hot bath a lot, the outdoor shower we couldn't figure out, but it was cold to be out there anyway. The ladder that goes into the bedroom upstairs works but is definitely for younger/more able bodied folks, and I couldn't imagine getting up in the night to use the bathroom, so we ended up using the sofa bed. Thanks so much to host Elisa for being very responsive and helpful.

Our host Elisa was very helpful and communicative! The view outside our cabin was beautiful and peaceful. When we did run into people living on the property, they were friendly and kind. When exploring the area there were a lot of different mushrooms and birds to enjoy. My only complaint would be that the ladder to the loft bed was hard to climb and the couch bed was uncomfortable. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay!

I would stay here again! Super cute and well appointed cabin. I loved the large bathroom and claw foot tub, and the giant window right in front of it looking out towards redwoods. The cabin felt private enough with comfort that the hosts weren’t too far away on the land.

2 nights at Roseman Creek Ranch

Katie hosted me on my first solo getaway away from my young toddler, and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to reconnect with myself. Katie is an extremely interesting human and an experienced host, and everything was clean, well thought out, and a pleasure to use—especially the outdoor shower where the water was deliciously hot and ferns tickled my legs. The surroundings are incredibly peaceful and the stars incredible. I spent my mornings making art at picnic table, and in the afternoons drove fifteen minutes in either direction to the charming towns of Gualala and Point Area, where I found groceries, delicious shrimp tacos, brick oven pizza, river kayaking, a public library, a used bookstore, and more. It was a truly special stay and I hope I get a chance to return. Thank you, Katie, for the restorative retreat.

Brett’s place is lovely, it’s a very nice home in a beautiful spot. We had a great time exploring the area. We appreciate that it was dog friendly. We were able to hang out at Clear Lake and there are many wineries in the area along with cute breakfast spots and shops. Going home at the end of our day to hang in the hot tub was the best. Brett is super nice, I ended up accidentally leaving my drivers license there and he was able to help me get in touch with the house cleaner Maria who sent it in the mail. I really appreciated them. Definitely recommend.

Wow - what a wonderful spot! We were greeted with a very clean, open and refreshing house. It is impressive how mindfully designed and well-appointed it is, with pleasant textures, textiles, colors and artful touches throughout, as well as numerous large windows to let the outside in. The comfortable seating areas are perfectly placed to enjoy the beautiful, woodsy setting both indoors and out. The hot tub area is great too - perfectly designed for privacy & relaxation. The house was well-stocked with items that are often not provided at house rentals, such as Kleenex, a variety of cooking spices, every kitchen tool I needed (and we cooked every meal at the house during our 3-night stay), Tupperware perfect for picnics, coffee supplies, etc. Well done! It's one of those places you want to tell everyone about, but you also don't because you want it to be available for your next getaway!

I loved this stay so much! I am going to try and stay again in the future so I can spend more time here - I spent most of the day out exploring Mendocino, and next time, I would want to spend more time in the tiny house/the property itself! Some of the highlights: - Bathtub with the large window and forest view + the outdoor tree shower were fantastic - The tiny house decor was so cute! I loved all the thought and details put into it - Upstairs bed was pretty cozy and warm, and had a few great spots to chill out and read - Excellent vinyl options for the record player - There’s a small grocery/deli about 10 minute drive from the hipcamp, and you’re about a 10 minute drive to downtown Mendocino, and 30-40 minute drive to fort Bragg - Communication from the host was great!
