The rangers and staff of Ocotillo Wells are dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable desert riding environment, and to ensuring that a quality experience remains available for future generations.

Vault toilets, shade ramadas, picnic tables, and fire rings are located in the Quarry, Main Street, and Holmes Camp areas. Water is not available. Sagewinds Farm is the first certified organic white sage farm in the world. Located in the high desert of San Diego county, between 3500 feet and 3800 ft. this beautiful 40 acres features caves, massive boulders to climb, views, flat land and privacy. At night the stars are magnificent and the milky way is visible...there are meteor showers several times a year. Permanent residents in the barn are the 2 mini horses to visit and four wonderful dogs. The nights are always cool and usually below 60% so be prepared to sleep well, even if the days are hot. There is almost always a breeze and sometimes a wind, so bring your kites. There are visiting animals that past thru and could include, coyotes, bobcats, Coatis, foxes, rabbits, quail, hawks and mountain lions. There are also some snake and lizards. We do have rattlesnakes. To make up for the rattlers we offer two flush toilets!
Camp on the healthy, beautiful and first Certified Organic White Sage Farm in the World. I like to tell people that this is sacred land and it is. Come see the magnificent boulder formations. Come for the quiet. Come for the stars. Remember that the Jacumba Hotel Hot Springs and restaurant is 5 minutes away and the food is exceptional.

Visit our the little town of Jacumba Hot springs down the road. Exciting things are happening there. The Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel, really good food, organic produce, and of course the Water! They offer day passes. Weekend music events at the Hotel or the The Old Bathhouse where you listen under the most incredible stars. Bazaar at the Bathouse the first Saturday of the month.
This is the prettiest property in east county! And the healthiest! It is a Certified Organic White Sage farm. This is the old west! Come in the spring for the wild flowers on the land.

The facilities were beyond expectations and we had a seamless experience. Steve was super accommodating and was great at communicating—he even gave us a small tour of the property!

See a legal cannabis farm in action at all times of the seasons while sleeping in a fully functioning 2023 Jayco farmhouse edition camper. We are located on the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation, make either a left or right from Hwy 79 onto Camino San Ignacio in Warner Springs, CA, keep to the left at the loop and drive out about 5 miles . When you reach the Ranger Station at the stop sign, make the first left at the sign located at 1600 Camino San Ignacio and drive all the way out to the back. The Happy Camper is located on the left.

More than 85,000 acres of magnificent desert are open for off-highway exploration and recreation within the boundaries portrayed on the park map are operated by California State Parks, OHMVR Division. Outside the boundaries, to the south and east, large tracts of BLM land (U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management) are also open to off-highway vehicles. The western boundary and part of the northern boundary connect with the 600,000-acre Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, which is closed to off-highway recreation, but open to exploration by highway-legal vehicles along established primitive roads.
The rangers and staff of Ocotillo Wells are dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable desert riding environment, and to ensuring that a quality experience remains available for future generations.
No fees are collected for camping or day use. Open camping is permitted throughout the unit for up to 30 days per calendar year. Vault toilets, shade ramadas, picnic tables, and fire rings are located in the Quarry, Main Street, and Holmes Camp areas. Water is not available. Vehicle repair shops, telephones, groceries, hotels, motels, RV parks, and restaurants are available in the surrounding communities of Borrego Springs, Ocotillo Wells, and Salton City.

Sagewinds Farm is the first certified organic white sage farm in the world. Located in the high desert of San Diego county, between 3500 feet and 3800 ft. this beautiful 40 acres features caves, massive boulders to climb, views, flat land and privacy. At night the stars are magnificent and the milky way is visible...there are meteor showers several times a year. Permanent residents in the barn are the 2 mini horses to visit and four wonderful dogs. The nights are always cool and usually below 60% so be prepared to sleep well, even if the days are hot. This is the prettiest property in east county! And the healthiest! It is a Certified Organic White Sage farm. This is the old west! Come in the spring for the wild flowers on the land.

Beautiful spot located at my property on the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation. See a legal cannabis farm in action at all times of the seasons while sleeping in a fully functioning 2023 Jayco farmhouse edition camper. The camper has a new Queen bed, electricity, refrigerator, running water, wi-fi, heater and air conditioning. For cooking there are options such as the kitchenette in the camper, outdoor grill and camp stove with a flat grill. There is a fire pit stocked with wood . I also provide camping chairs, utensils and much more. The star viewing is amazing. There is a private hiking trail and a shaded dog area for your pet to enjoy. We are located on the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation, make either a left or right from Hwy 79 onto Camino San Ignacio in Warner Springs, CA, keep to the left at the loop and drive out about 5 miles . Bernie is an awesome host. He communicated very well throughout. He gave me a little bit of the history and future plans for the "Thompson Palms Campground". It is definitely a unique place to camp. There are 3 RV spots (full hook-ups) and a ton of space for tent campers. You can choose to tuck yourself right into a cluster (or a row) of palms to set up camp if you want. Or, you can pick a spot right out in the open. The property also had a stand alone bathroom/shower available as well. It felt very secluded and offered a ton of peace and quiet. Great Hipcamp!

Weekend Trip to Hideout Mountain Lodge
I had a great time at hideout Mountain. The airstream was well equipped and I had everything I needed to cook, relax, and stay warm. The Outlook near the site is gorgeous, and I spent most of my mornings looking at the view. Also enjoyed Josie’s hideout saloon and found the service to be really friendly and the vibe to be really nice. Live music was a great touch.

Our second time around, first time during the winter, just as great as we remember it with some new additions!
Noticed there are some new homes/camps on nearby mountains in the area since our last time around but still very safe, cozy and private. The mountain is essentially double gated and one side has unobstructed views of the lake. The road up has definitely seen better days, at least 3 tricky spots, 4WD recommended, we've driven up to camp with AWD but we are definitely getting 4WD for next time. The last thing you want is to have to carry all your supplies up the mountain, a 15 minute drive can become a 1-2 hour steep hike up to camp. The weather was very comfortable, we brought a lot of winter camping supplies that we ended up not using as temps barely went under 55 degrees.
Having running water, electricity and a toilet up here is a blessing. We plugged in a 12V car fridge for a few days and grilled/cooked comfortably while keeping everything clean and organized.
Not too far from SD or Anza-Borrego for a day trip, we spent most of our days just hiking the mountain with my dog. Make sure to visit the bridge and cave during your stay. Might be nice to bring a mountain bike if you have one.

This place is amazing! The view from the Happy Hilltop Site is beautiful, and it feels very peaceful and quiet. The ranch has everything - including a shared kitchen area with a fridge, sink, and everything you need for cooking. Friendly dogs visited my site, and there were also goats, sheep, cats, and chickens around. I definitely recommend his place, especially for longer stays!

Great spot! The shed keeps you much warmer at night. Definitely go during a new moon — the stars are just magical. There isn’t a toilet, it’s just a portable stool with bags, which may be a challenge for some, but there’s really nothing as thrilling like shitting in a bag in the wilderness.

Upon my arrival, Lexi generously gifted me with an upgrade to the unreserved Creekside Campsite. My experience there was nothing short of profound. The year-round gurgling, 10-foot wide creek may be unique to San Diego county campsites. While the beneficial sounds of flowing water are well-known in the contemplative practices, combining this with the visual perception of it, the feelings of wind and sun on the skin, and Nature's smells one becomes immersed in an exteroceptive experience, par excellence, that synergized with my interoceptive awareness to drive its extensions beyond all previous boundaries: a novel bliss that can accurately be described as paradise. She has accented these natural delights with beautiful human creations--an elegant 6-foot long wind mobile and the most beautiful lace tablecloth I have ever seen. While I surely could have remained there happily ever after, other needs drove me away. Nevertheless, having been away from there for three nights now, I can attest that the interoceptive enhancement still remains and may be permanent. Therefore, anyone practicing the contemplative arts will certainly benefit from this amazing exteroceptive experience, even if for only a single night. Lexi is to be adored for sharing this marvelous treasure of hers, and the rest of us should certainly avail ourselves of this unique opportunity to advance our consciousnesses with at least a night's visit to paradise that will enhance your insight about self.

Beautiful location and friendly host, we’d definitely stay here again! There were nice trails and it was so quiet and private. The drive on the dirt road to the campsites is a bit steep and uneven in places, which was fine for our SUVs, but we had friends with smaller cars (Prius, Mazda 3) who couldn’t comfortably make it due to their low clearance so we just shuttled them in our SUVs. We’d recommend making sure you bring a car with higher clearance.
