At Joel's place in Chula Vista! Easy access. Welcoming and responsive host. Plenty of space to turn around and quiet for being right in the city. Also, it's very convenient for seeing the sites of San Diego.

Davida’s Happy Camper was my wife and I’s first Hip Camp experience and it was just perfect. The modern and cozy Jayco RV is just as described, the land is peaceful and inviting, and Davida is a sweet and thoughtful host! We loved the Apple Walnut bread and honey she gifted us. What a great touch! We only wish we stayed longer. But that’s why we plan to come back :)

Weekend Trip to The Happy Camper
Loved the location, the camper and experience at The Happy Camper. Davida was wonderful in getting supplies prepared for a campfire, answering questions, and very responsive and respectful. Loved it and definitely will recommend and share another adventure in the Happy Camper again.

Our stay at The Happy Camper was everything we had hoped for and more. The setup was thoughtful, cozy, and incredibly comfortable; the bed alone was one of the best we’ve ever slept on while camping. The entire space was spotless and clearly cared for with so much attention.
Davida, the owner, is truly something special. She was helpful, kind, and went well beyond expectations to make us feel welcome. You can tell she pours her heart into this HipCamp spot.
My 6-year-old absolutely loved it! She was over the moon with the outdoor family games Davida left for us to enjoy, such a fun and unexpected touch.
We can’t recommend The Happy Camper enough. A wonderful experience from start to finish, and we can’t wait to come back!

There's places I've stayed at because I love for different reasons. It could be the ambience, the views, the bed, the perks of being central in a certain city I love, etc. You will fall in love with this remote place, the little touches such as the quality snacks they provided us, the beautiful trailer, the readiness of the firepit and bbq, etc. I can say whole heartedly the reason that made this place great was the owners. They're good people with good souls. They were just the most hospitable hosts I've met from all the private rentals I've done ( and I've done a lot.) We appreciate you. Thank you for making it a pleasant stay from start to finish. We'll definitely be back just to visit.

Everything about this place was amazing! :)
The tubs were amazing, the bed was comfortable, the entire trailer was cozy, we loved the hiking trails nearby, and loooooved the provided firewood to make a fire at night :) the grounds smelled amazing too and we HIGHly recommend this place! We will for sure be back

We had the most amazing stay at The Happy Camper! Everything was absolutely perfect — the trailer was spotless and fully stocked with everything we could possibly need, and the campsite itself was so thoughtfully set up and cozy.
Our host, Davida, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. She even greeted us with two joints, a homemade apple pie, and ice cream — such a fun and thoughtful touch! The property is gorgeous, and the cannabis plants are absolutely stunning to see up close.
Our dogs had the best time, too! They were welcomed with open arms and clearly loved every minute of the trip. It’s rare to find a place that feels so peaceful, well cared for, and genuinely welcoming to both people and pets.
Thank you, Davida, for creating such a special getaway. We can’t wait to come back! 🌿🍎🐾

We followed Joel’s directions and easily found where to go. Keep an eye on your upper camper as you travel the long drive. The trees come close in spots. There’s plenty of room. Joel met us when we drove in. He directed us to our spot and gave us information about the area and getting around. It’s right in the middle of town, but you’d never know it. It’s pretty quiet and feels secluded. There are others that live on the property and off the long driveway, but everyone is pleasant and friendly. There’s no street noise. There’s working people around, so you’ll hear neighbors coming and going for work. The ground is all gravel and fairly level. We had water and electric hook-ups. Joel’s dog Gwen patrols the property. She’s friendly, but a little shy. We had our 2 dogs with us and they were allowed to roam the property. We also had our own fencing when we didn’t want them to roam. The property is safe and not gated. Joel warned us about skunks. We smelled them, but never saw them. There are trees around the outside of the property, so not much shade, but the weather is so nice, we didn’t need any. Lots of birds around. There is a bathroom and shower available. We didn’t need them, as we had our camper. Others were using them. We got ants in the camper-not unusually when camping. Joel was friendly and never bothered us. We never felt intruded upon or uncomfortable. Everything is close and lots to do within 25 minutes drive. We’ll come again!

Depending on what you're doing in the SD area, it can be a great jumping off spot. 30min to most of the hot spots.
Joel was a very personable host. We are in a 35' DP and had no problem getting in/out. I don't know if I would try a 42'. The driveway is pretty tight. For us overall it was a great experience for our 1st Hipcamp adventure. Thanks Joel. Cheers!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Davida's camper! The property was beautiful and smelled amazing, we wandered around with our pup who had a super chill time too😎
Definitely will be back for many trips, highly recommend !!!
