The campsite is about 3 miles from the river, however the campsite connects to a creek that flows into the river. These creeks run year round and are perfect for taking a dip! This is a 253 Acre property near the Sacramento River that flows through the area of Lakehead near Redding and Shasta lake. There are a couple of really good fishing spots along the river . On the property itself there is 3 year round flowing creeks. Lots of Deer on the property since we don’t hunt and so they come on our land as a little sanctuary. Beautiful view of the Shasta area mountains. Multiple places to hike and find water holes. There is Poison Oak on the property, please be mindful. There are bears, but will normally stay away from the campsite. Please put your food away to prevent wildlife from coming into your camp. There are fish in the Sacramento River that can be fished for. This is the wilderness, there are mosquitos, flys, and other bugs. Please bring bug spray.

This property is easily accessed off Gilman Road on the McCloud arm of Lake Shasta. Once you get off on exit number 698 heading north from Redding CA you travel 7.1 miles on Gilman rd toward Hirz bay. The green cattle fence is on your right hand side. The land is surrounded by a beautiful pine forest with mixed trees and offers stunning mountain views. Despite its privacy, it is only seven minutes from the boat launch at Hirz Bay. On-site amenities include internet access and a screened room, perfect for escaping bugs and enjoying meals at the outdoor picnic table. There are two tent camping sites and one cabin. The cabin is powered by solar energy and includes Netflix for streaming. The deep sink in the screened room is great for washing dishes, and there is a BBQ for cooking. Fire pits use propane to meet fire restriction requirements. There is plenty of space for your boat or RV, and a dog kennel is available on-site for your furry friends. The property also features a porta-potty for convenience. Two kayaks and a paddleboard are free to use. Come experience the family-favorite McCloud arm of Shasta Lake and enjoy a more relaxed pace.

Etna has Days Food Place and Dollar General if supplies are needed. The Avery Theatre and restaurants have entertainment options on the weekends. If you need a place to relax the Etna Park has shaded seating or there are many creeks and river locations to enjoy. 😊 Our town is beautiful and during the hiking season we see many PCT hikers who add to the social life in town.

Please bring all your own camping gear, though I do have some tents and supplies available to loan. I have two friendly mountain dogs, and I’m a friendly host myself. Please, no hard drugs, criminal activity, or disrespectful behavior. We encourage peace, quiet, and the solitude you’ll find on this sacred land.

With decks on the roofs and an amazing view, the golden hour doesn't get much better. There is even a Rock Climbing wall. Lots of insane roads and places to explore. Humbug Creek was a famous gold mining valley with lots of lore and mystique. Located very remotely yet only 20 minutes to the I-5 and Yreka. An awesome place to get off the road and spend a few with epic beauty. Amazing for Dirt Biking too!
