They are about 300 feet apart and not easily visible from each other. Property is fully fenced; both sites are next to an open field under the oaks with vineyard, olive orchard and mountain views. This property is 30 miles from Paso Robles and almost perfectly centered between Missions San Antonio and San Miguel. Lakes San Antonio and Nacimiento are close by. Coastal towns of Cayucos and Morro Bay are about an hour scenic drive, passing many wineries along the way. There is space for multiple RVs or additional tents sharing your party's RV restroom facilities. Site one will accommodate sixteen people and multiple vehicles. A Fairy tale cottage style wooden tiny home built in the 1980's with a bottle wall, full bath, and reading nook. This three story wonder will leave you inspired to step into your own story. Fully equipped with a small kitchen, queen bed, reading nook and two beautiful outdoor decks, you'll feel like you stepped into another world.
The Main Bungalow is a 1970's GEM, built by a movie industry icon with views of the valley through the stunning and huge five windows overlooking the Salinas River. Two bedrooms downstairs and two full baths, accompany a well appointed kitchen. The upstairs loft accommodates two additional semi private queen beds, and additional seating area. Sunrises from the bedrooms are rivaled by few.

We named our property the Twisted Branch after one of the big oak trees that sits on the site where you will camp with us! It's on a hilltop with amazing views in nearly all directions. The campsite faces South/West so sunsets are fantastic. We use no chemicals on the soil or annual grasses. It is very quiet and the night sky is always stunning. Owls hoot at night and Redtail Hawks hunt for ground squirrels during the day. We have alot of Acorn woodpeckers living in the oak trees, the ones with the bright red head feathers. April through June we see bright yellow Orioles. At night you will hear hundreds of little frogs in the nearby ponds, depending on the season.
We are located in the heart of Wine Country and there are plenty of activities around us and in town.

Although the dirt access road can be a little dusty and bumpy for a sports car, in the 35 years I've been here it has always been accessible for a 2 wheel drive vehicle. The property is at the end of the road. No traffic, no noise, only views of the surrounding area. If you are interested in night skies, the milky way is a constant. After winter rains, everything is green and wild flowers are abundant. Stay and enjoy the vistas or travel relatively short distances for hiking in the Los Padres forest, drive CA HWY 1, visit Paso Robles wineries, boat or fish at Lake San Antonio or Lake Nacimiento. Nearby Williams Hill BLM area for hunting, shooting or ATV riding. For hunters and fisherman, Ft Hunter Liggett is to the immediate west. Occasional weekend's be entertained by military training and occasional aircraft, helicopters and planes. It is so quiet that you can hear vehicles passing several miles away on Jolon Rd in the valley below. Visitors travel to Morro bay, Avila beach to the south or Big Sur and Monterey Bay to the north. Motorcycle enthusiasts can enjoy 100's of miles of uncrowded country roads. Host is an avid motorcyclist and will provide enough helpful guidance for all levels of riding. Corbin saddle in Hollister is a great destination for lunch and a custom made seat by appointment. Getaway to the central coast of California and leave the city behind. San Francisco is a bit over 2 hours to the north and LA about 4 hours to the south. Owner has intimate knowledge of way to many destinations.

There is a creek bed, usually dry most of the year, that provides excellent rock hunting and shady areas with overhanging oaks. We have grazing cattle fenced off from the camping areas and farm so you may see or hear them during your stay. The entrance to the camping area is a very wide oil pipe fenced driveway off Branch Road, designed to accommodate farm equipment and cattle trailers. Sometimes map apps say you've arrived at one of the separate residential driveways on the property. Please keep looking for the commercial sized entrance. We are a 15 minute drive to the restaurants and shopping in downtown Paso Robles, 8 minutes to the Vina Robles Amphitheater, 6 minutes to the Hunter Ranch Golf Course, and 5 min to the Sensorio Art Exhibit. Highlands Ranch Hip Camp sites are located half way between Atascadero and Morro Bay.
The weather at Highlands Ranch is more like the inland Atascadero side hot in the summer months and cold in the winter months.
We have 4 terraced, no hook up, spots available all of which can accommodate 2 or 4 wheel drive camper vans, trucks or cars.
One of the sites can be used for fifth wheel, small motorhome or multiple camper type vehicles and of course tents can be set up on all sites. Sites range from small to extra large, that are quaintly studded with oak trees and native greenery for a peaceful camp off the road.
Also, from our sites available, there is only a 5 minute walk to the local, off the beaten path, restaurant called the Half Way Station (great food, beer/ wine, sweets and live music) open Thursday through Sunday, which you can find on Facebook or Instagram.

Barbara and Dan bought these 37 acres in 2005. It had no improvements. The only thing it had going for it was a 250-year-old oak tree, and its location in the heart of wine country. We would come up and camp under the tree, and plant. In 2007, we drilled a well. In 2008, Dan proposed under the tree, and we brought in power. We have continued to make improvements since. We built a little house, then we built a big house, we added farm animals, kids, fruit trees, a jam line, a pond, and more keep coming! So come up and enjoy the farm like we did in the good old days! Evenings: Evening time at Almond Springs is spectacular. There is no light pollution, and the stars are amazing! The space is also well lit with intimate café lighting.
Weather: This is a remote country space. The Cabins and Kitchen both have Heat and A/C. Please come prepared for what the weather predicts for San Miguel, CA.
Dogs: We allow up to two dogs. They must remain on leash at all times. There is a $50 pet fee per pet.

After winter rains, everything is green and wild flowers are abundant. Stay and enjoy the vistas or travel relatively short distances for hiking in the Los Padres forest, drive CA HWY 1, visit Paso Robles wineries, boat or fish at Lake San Antonio or Lake Nacimiento. Nearby Williams Hill BLM area for hunting, shooting or ATV riding. For hunters and fisherman, Ft Hunter Liggett is to the immediate west. Occasional weekend's be entertained by military training and occasional aircraft, helicopters and planes. It is so quiet that you can hear vehicles passing several miles away on Jolon Rd in the valley below. Visitors travel to Morro bay, Avila beach to the south or Big Sur and Monterey Bay to the north. Motorcycle enthusiasts can enjoy 100's of miles of uncrowded country roads. Host is an avid motorcyclist and will provide enough helpful guidance for all levels of riding. Corbin saddle in Hollister is a great destination for lunch and a custom made seat by appointment. Getaway to the central coast of California and leave the city behind. San Francisco is a bit over 2 hours to the north and LA about 4 hours to the south. Owner has intimate knowledge of way to many destinations.

The weather at Highlands Ranch is more like the inland Atascadero side hot in the summer months and cold in the winter months.
We have 4 terraced, no hook up, spots available all of which can accommodate 2 or 4 wheel drive camper vans, trucks or cars.
One of the sites can be used for fifth wheel, small motorhome or multiple camper type vehicles and of course tents can be set up on all sites. Sites range from small to extra large, that are quaintly studded with oak trees and native greenery for a peaceful camp off the road.

Bathrooms: We have 2 full and 2 half shared bathrooms. Both full bathrooms have showers. These are cleaned daily. Each cabin is assigned a full bathroom so it will be private and not shared. Tent and RV stayers have bathrooms but No showers.
Kitchen: The communal kitchen has a refrigerator, sink, microwave, BBQ, coffee maker, dishwasher, stove, oven, and ice maker. The kitchen has A/C and heat.
Other Shared Structures: The Lounge Barn, Legends Saloon, Loading Dock Stage, Antique Barns and the Game Room.
Evenings: Evening time at Almond Springs is spectacular. There is no light pollution, and the stars are amazing! The space is also well lit with intimate café lighting.
Weather: This is a remote country space. The Cabins and Kitchen both have Heat and A/C. Please come prepared for what the weather predicts for San Miguel, CA.
Dogs: We allow up to two dogs. They must remain on leash at all times. There is a $50 pet fee per pet.
Campfires: Allowed
Cellular Service: Cell Service is spotty but we have Wi-Fi for you to connect to!

Working Ranch: We are a working ranch. The family may be around during your stay or operating around the ranch. Feel free to stop and ask them questions!

Flat open field next to a private oak studded dry creek bed that borders a vineyard. Enter the field through an open gate that is 14' wide and can handle any length trailer. Six wineries are nearby for wine tasting, (Tobin James, Ernest Hemmingway, Rio Seco, Penman Springs & Pear Valley Vineyard across the street). Paso Robles is a quaint old Western town that hosts the Mid-State Fair. Downtown Paso Robles is about 5 miles to the West and offers a variety of excellant restraurants, bars, a movie theatre, and shops that surround a large grassy park with large magnolia trees, a gazebo, museum and playground.

Barb was a very good host. Her communication was super prompt and clear and our booking was super smooth. Unfortunately, we had a problem with our van the night before arriving and had to cancel our stay. Again, Barb was incredibly responsive and very understanding. We are very impressed with the level of service she provides to her guests and are looking forward to replanning our stay on her property. Thank you, Barb for being such a great host.

Wow. What a magical space! Even our dog, who is always skiddish at new places, was at total peace here. The outdoor tub is awesome. The sleeping camper was sooo cozy. Every part of the space felt carefully thought out. The big deck overlooking the rolling farmland.. majestic. We’ll be back for sure!

Beautiful! Veronica was a wonderful host. Very welcoming and gracious. There is no service in the area and Veronica was kind enough to let us use her phone to get in touch with the rest of our group to give some updated instructions/directions. The grounds are well-maintained and the sites were big enough to accommodate big groups with multiple cars. Our group had a mix of car and tent campers and it was big enough to accommodate us all comfortably. Also, the sunset view is absolutely stunning! Looking forward to our next trip back here. The Range was perfect, with beautiful views and a really peaceful feel. It was great meeting their dog Ria and saying hi to the farm animals. My dogs were so happy to have space to run around and just be dogs. Karina was very accommodating and easy to talk to, which made everything even better. It was pretty windy during my stay, but overall a really nice experience and a place I’d happily return to!
