Skyline is a beautiful rural retreat center currently offering our Hermitage to writers, meditators and nature lovers who want a peaceful, comfortable environment to do creative work or take a spiritual retreat.
The Yuba River, the Tahoe National Forest and South Yuba River State Park are all nearby. We have views that overlook the blue water of Bullards Bar reservoir, surrounded by mountains and trees. The quiet is enriched by sounds of birds, creek and wind. There are many walking trails throughout our private 200 acres.
The Hermitage is a beautiful, light-filled studio, with high ceilings and many windows. Hand-built from wood milled on site, it is a serene space for a writing retreat. The Hermitage is located in its own small canyon where you are likely to hear and see only the wind in the trees, birds and frogs, and the occasional deer. The 300-square foot cabin includes a twin bed, propane stove and oven, small refrigerator, dining table and chairs, bathroom with shower, and is heated by a wood stove or electric heater. It is available by reservation from April 20 to November 20, and is recommended for one person.
We are located in Camptonville, California, 30 miles north of Nevada City/Grass Valley off Highway 49. The Sacramento airport is a two hour drive from us; the Reno Airport is 2.5 hours away.
All-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicles are recommended. We are seven miles off the highway on a paved road. The last mile is gravel. Your destination opens up to a panoramic view to the southwest, overlooking Bullards Bar Reservoir. You will find your journey well worth it!

Are you ready to unplug from the world and recharge in nature? This newly built two bedroom, two bath log cabin will help you do just that. You’ll reconnect with love ones since the cabin has NO WIFI but does have a wood burning stove and miles of trails to walk on just outside of the front door. The cabin is conveniently located just minutes from the north entrance of Lassen National Park.
For entertainment, I have a TV (no cable)/DVD player with a selection of movies, board games, and reading material including a few books and magazines.
There is timber land at the back of the property with plenty of trails to walk or ride a mountain bike (if you bring one). Lassen National Park is a short drive away. Also nearby is lake McCumber.
I have a wood burning stove inside that you can use for a fire.
Absolutely NO FIRES outside. There is a fire ban in effect, thank you for your cooperation and understanding. I have a propane BBQ outside that you can use, along with a picnic bench and other outside seating.
I will provide a selection of tea, hot coco, coffee and oatmeal to get your day started. Be sure to bring food with you since the nearest grocery story is about 9 miles away.
I will provide a basket of firewood to use during your stay, but it's a good idea to bring extra since it will go fast.
Because you're in the forest, there is limited cell reception so please plan accordingly. I've found that Verizon has some signal while AT&T has none. Since it's meant to get away from it all, not having cell service might be a good thing. :)
The master bedroom is on the entire loft floor so there isn't a lock or door that separates the main area downstairs. Just so you're aware. There is a door and lock on the guest bedroom downstairs.
All you'll need to bring are your personal items, food for your stay, and extra firewood!
Once booked, I will send more helpful tips and information for your stay a week prior to your check in date.
Dogs - I allow dogs because I believe they are part of the family, but please notify me if you intend to bring your dog prior to your stay.
If there is high wind in the forecast, the electric company, PG&E may turn the power off for safety reasons. They usually notify me a day in advance and I will let you know right away, but I wanted you to know that it might be a possibility during your stay.
For Winter Guests: A 4 wheel drive vehicle or car with chains is HIGHLY recommended to travel to the cabin. The main road is paved but there will be snow/ice in the area. The driveway is a slight uphill and is not paved. Please be prepared for snow.

The area boasts truly amazing restaurants, bars, shopping and modern amenities. Our property is very close to access points for the famous Upper Bidwell park. Weekend Trip to Mill Creek Resort
Loved our glamping yurt! Will be back for sure and hopefully with friends. Site 20 is by the trail to go to the creek but site 19 is a ways away because the vault toilet is in between. We heard the creek all night which is exactly what we wanted! It’s about 20 minutes to the southwest gate of Lassen NP.

The Butterfly Yurt is the perfect glamping spot! It's private, comfortable, and has just enough amenities to make the stay easy yet with the camping feel. Lori and Lucky were great hosts -- nearby if needed but out of sight and earshot. The location is great for access to Quincy, the Feather River canyon, the Lakes region (the hike to the Sierra Buttes lookout is epic!), swimming, hot springs, etc. Or just laze on the yurt's deck with a cup of coffee and read. We hope to go back again soon.

This was our first time camping in a yurt- or any premade structure for that matter! I couldn’t complain about a single thing, there was so much more provided in the yurt than we could have imagined. There is basically a full kitchen set up witch dishes and utensils, extra blankets, fire wood for the fire place, A SHOWER, toilet paper, lighters, even cooking oil! It was such a relaxing get away for my family and I. We had such a blast exploring the property, going to the swimming hole basically 3 minutes away, and just enjoying each others company. Although the structure itself is rather close to the home, it still feels so secluded and like you’re right in the middle of nowhere. If you’re thinking about pulling the trigger on something nice for camping, don’t bother looking anywhere else!

Weekend Trip to Lassen Glampsite (No Electricity)
This spot is among pine trees not far from the road near forest service trails and logging roads and only 15 minutes from Lassen Volcanic National Park, which is amazing. The garage/living room/kitchen has one screened wall (the open garage door) that gives a sense of being outside with the comforts of home. Ice sold nearby for your cooler, and Linda has left solar lanterns for light (bring your headlamps, too) and a solar water bag for a warm shower. Well equipped kitchen (bring you own olive oil). We enjoyed our stay. My husband saw a fox passing by at dusk!

The glamp site was really nice - the beds were comfy and the location was ideal with being close to Lassen. The bathrooms were a bit of a hike, but nice. The creek trail felt a bit sketchy after a long day of hiking. My chief complaint was there was nowhere to store our food at our site - our box was missing a door - and a mouse got into my trunk and ate through most all of our things overnight. Also the trash was a hike. But overall a really nice property and glamping setup!

We absolutely loved this campsite! It was beautiful and clean and had a ton of amenities. I appreciated how many different sleeping/camping accommodations it offered, from basic campsites, to yurts and cabins. The location was also very convenient to Lassen National Park which was a big plus for us!
