Meteor Camp (BOONDOCK)

70 sites · RVs, Tents79 acres · Leupp, AZ
Great BOONDOCKING campsite! ABout 3.5 Miles North of I-40 at the Meteor City Rd. Exit. The dirt road that runs north from the I-40 exit is relatively flat. I drove to the property in a low 2 wheel drive car with no problem. So a large RV should have no problem getting to the camp. Rainfall is very minimal. 79 acres sitting at 4900 foot high desert elevation. Stargaze with only light from your campfire. Distant mountain views (West) towards Flagstaff. The property is completely natural/primitive with natural scrub and tumbleweeds. Beautiful shallow canyons run North to South. The property can be windy, so I just used my car as a windbreak. There are scatter rocks for a fire ring and sage scrub that burns good and hot on property, very little fire danger due to the terrain. One of the largest Meteors hit the Earth millions of years ago; only 12 miles from this primitive/ natural camp!! Yes there are pieces of that meteor, if you look real hard you might see them on property. If you need to wash clothes, take showers, purchase food and drink, get gas; the Navajo Blue Travel Plaza is just 12 miles West on I-40. Meteor Crater Exit is only 3 miles West down I-40 with Gas station. Rest Area is 2 miles West on I-40 also. The Two Guns exit is only 4 miles West on I-40 with some old trading post ruins and a river! Meteor Crater National Landmark is literally 12 miles Southwest (as the Raven flies). Twin Arrows Casino is only a 16 minute drive from this camp site West on I-40 (entertainment and great food). Petrified Forest National Park is 35 miles East on I-40. Walnut National Monument is 36 miles West. Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument is 46 miles West on I-40 then North on 89. There are several old Navajo and Indian Ruins and early 1900s settlement ruins within a 40 minute drive. God Speed, Have Fun and Be Carefull!

Open Fields Forever HE>i

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Sun Valley, AZ
This is a nice spot on a gentle slope that overlooks the beautiful plateaus of Petrified Forest National Park. There is a convenient store located over the bridge, south of the Sun Valley exit off the 40 freeway. Very light locals through traffic. Sits on a hill, further away from all the other homes. Sometimes you can expect wild horses, jack rabbits and cows at a safe distance. Also highway noise depending on direction of wind. Here you can enjoy amazing star gazing and shooting stars on a dark night with no moon. This upgraded spot now has lots more amenities than before. This is an adorable 10x10 non-insulated shed/cabin with one bunk bed above sofa bed, refrigerator, coffee counter top with cabinet storage dishes, pots and pans and utensils. You can also enjoy an indoor wood burning stove or a Portable Buddy heater and a two burner Coleman stove with propane tank, hot or cold running water and sink. We provide a double cartridge toilet that flushes. Enjoy the outdoor patio area with two hammocks, coffee table and chairs, two bonfire pits and even a large dog pen for your small traveling buddies to enjoy. More pictures to come soon. Owner is always on site unless you request otherwise, more privacy.

Tiny Town Arizona

12 sites · Lodging40 acres · Show Low, AZ
In November 2015 I visited my good friends Brad and Joya who had recently purchased  40 acres outside of Show Low, Arizona and moved to the property.  I instantly fell in love with the land.  The quiet open spaces,  the abundant junipers and the vistas looking up to the White Mountains of Arizona.  Fortunately there was forty acres for sale that I bought in the winter of 2016.  Since then my partners and I expanded by buying an adjacent 60 acres for a total of 100 acres.  I have always been interested in sustainable off-the-grid living.  Fortunately for that dream there were no services to the property so we started planning what we needed to live comfortably on the Land.  The moto Food, Water, Shelter came to me.  With that in mind our first purchase was a 28' by 40' green house, and then came our well.  Next we purchased a 600 sq. foot one bedroom manufactured home which we now use as our office and check in point.  For power we have a 8.5 kw solar system that gives power to the house. With the wide open spaces it is tranquil not having power lines on the property. We wanted to grow a cash crop that was consistent with our theme.  We found that one of the largest Lavender Farms in the country, Red Rock Lavender is 30 miles from us.  We arranged to buy Lavender from them, and in the Summer of 2017 planted over 4000 plants in the shape of two mandalas. Once the plants are mature we plan to produce our own line of Lavender products.  Our goal of having guests camp on our Land is to share our ideas of sustainable living and the abundant natural resources on and around our property.  We hope you visit and share our vision.Learn more about this land:Tiny Town Arizona is a 100-acre sustainable glamping resort overlooking the White Mountains located 20 miles outside of Show Low, AZ.  Campsites are nestled among abundant Junipers and rolling grassy hills.
