It started with two women in love and inspired to live closer to nature, feed themselves and others, and know where their food comes from. The realization quickly came that many more hands would be needed to transform the space into a productive farm with infrastructure to support that. Many hands did come and eventually the space became a temporary home to dozens of wwoofers and many others as well. What we've found, and the reason the name "Dharma Farmily" came to us, is that truly we humans are the ones being farmed, for our Dharma. Our story is short. We bought this land in 2012 and it was barren. We have created a nice sanctuary with trees, a pond, and relaxing hangout areas. We are artists and biologists. Our children are homeschooled. We have fresh eggs to share from our lovely ducks. Yes, Ducks have really nutritious eggs and they taste just like chicken eggs. We also have three dogs that are friendly. We are 20 minutes to climbing areas (Promised Land and The Dells), Sedona is an hour away, Prescott is 35 minutes, Grand Canyon is !.5 hours, the Verde River is 40 minutes one way and an hour and 15 in the other direction. You are welcome to set up a tent or bring your RV. We hope you'll camp here.

Our sunsets and night star-gazing are just spectacular and we're enough off the beaten path that there's no crowds or traffic to deal with, but you are close to dining and area attractions. This is a quiet, rural neighborhood and a peaceful farm that borders the National Forest for easy hiking and few neighbors. The farm animals do cluck, crow, whinny, neigh, baa, bleat, squeal, and oink at various times, including early morning. There is one mile of a somewhat bumpy gravel road with hills to reach our neighborhood, so please make sure you are ready for that and have adequate towing power. The nearest services and dining are 5 minutes away. We are about 25-30 minutes to Sedona, the Village of Oak Creek, and the popular red rock hiking sites. There are many wineries and dining right down the road to enjoy. 1 hour to Flagstaff, 2 hours to Phoenix. Come enjoy a taste of rural Arizona!
