Weaving Woods Farm

The property features a 1 1/2 acre pond stocked with catfish and bream and has a nice little dock with a table and chairs to sit and enjoy the water. There are animals! I have a beloved Scottish Highland cow named Genia and she is joined with two mini bulls and two mini cows. Various numbers of Nigerian Dwarf goats join them in the pasture. There are also a few chickens. Small garden beds and a fruit orchard are on the property and I usually have at least a half dozen projects of one sort or another going on. Several acres are wooded and there is ample space for a nature trail that I try to keep maintained. Several of the usual types wildlife can be seen. Are you an artist or a writer? This is a great place for comtemplation and inspiration. I myself have 40 years experience as an art teacher and professor. If you would like to have a mini workshop, let me help. Water is available not far from the campsites. There is also a portable pop up potty/shower tent (with bucket and seat) available.

Burton's Beautiful Hollow

This creek property was probably used by the Creek and then the Cherokee as a campsite because of the abundant water and wild life. Later is was farm land and in the 1920's had approximately fifty mules working the land. The Old barn and blacksmith shop are still here. In 1977 the government planned to put a four lane toll road through here but was stopped by the oil embargo which caused the right of way to be auctioned. We were able to buy 200 acres for a small amount of money and have been raising cattle and camping on it every since that time. As a Scout Master I have been using this site for camping for the past 15 years. Time to let others enjoy. Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent or hammock in a grove of hardwood trees in a nice meadow on the banks of Lake Creek with old timey swimming hole. It is about 8 feet deep in center going to about 4' at sides and 20 feet long. Big stone grill is provided as well as large fire pit. Kindling and firewood is provided. ten minute walk to the main house for potable water and other needs. 37 acre farm with hills and a wide variety of wildlife and plants to inspect. Camp is in rural area couple hundred yards off county road but secluded. Plenty of deer, turkey, geese, wild ducks, beaver and other wild life in the area. A secondary campsite is provided down the creek with area for tent near creek. Fire pit and firewood is provided.

Be sure to save some time to enjoy the boulder strewn creek just a short walk from our welcome center - it’s a must see! Other local attractions are also within reach with the Top Trails ATV park and the Talladega Marksmanship Park only seven miles away.

Overview

A stone’s throw from the thrilling races at Talladega Superspeedway, the natural surroundings around Oxford, Alabama provide a lush and green landscape for camping enthusiasts. Talladega National Forest beckons with nearly 400,000 acres of sprawling wilderness, from dense chestnut oak and Virginia pine forests to the granite boulders and high peaks of Cheaha State Park. Check in at improved campgrounds with back-in RV sites and amenities like full hookups, picnic tables, free wifi, firepits, and bathhouse access. Days are best-spent rock climbing at Rock Gardens, hiking to Laurel Falls, and mountain biking on the Cheaha Express Trail. Forty minutes northeast of Oxford, Coleman Lake is another ideal spot for RV and tent camping. Amenities include water and electrical hookups, comfort stations, and a reservable picnic shelter. From the boat ramp, head out onto the water for largemouth and spotted bass fishing. Or head next door to Choccolocco Wildlife Management Area to hunt for white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, and rabbits.
