Burton's Beautiful Hollow

2 sites · Tents30 acres · Cave Spring, GA
This creek property was probably used by the Creek and then the Cherokee as a campsite because of the abundant water and wild life. Later is was farm land and in the 1920's had approximately fifty mules working the land. The Old barn and blacksmith shop are still here. In 1977 the government planned to put a four lane toll road through here but was stopped by the oil embargo which caused the right of way to be auctioned. We were able to buy 200 acres for a small amount of money and have been raising cattle and camping on it every since that time. As a Scout Master I have been using this site for camping for the past 15 years. Time to let others enjoy. Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent or hammock in a grove of hardwood trees in a nice meadow on the banks of Lake Creek with old timey swimming hole. It is about 8 feet deep in center going to about 4' at sides and 20 feet long. Big stone grill is provided as well as large fire pit. Kindling and firewood is provided. ten minute walk to the main house for potable water and other needs.  37 acre farm with hills and a wide variety of wildlife and plants to inspect. Camp is in rural area couple hundred yards off county road but secluded. Plenty of deer, turkey, geese, wild ducks, beaver and other wild life in the area. A secondary campsite is provided down the creek with area for tent near creek. Fire pit and firewood is provided.

Breath of Life Farm

2 sites · RVs, Tents21 acres · Ashville, AL
The Dry Bones Live (Ezekiel 37). The first visit in 2019 to this 21 acres was both a shock and a confirmation. It had everything on our check list and more - nearly flat land, convenient location, but also twice the acreage, a roadbed, diversity, Monarch butterflies everywhere, access to a big lake.....and it was littered with logs!! They were in piles and scattered everywhere. But this particular land was being placed in my hands to steward and to reveal the creativity and loving nature of Yahweh. And that meant not bulldozing or burning the logs. Instead, the task was to breathe life into the logs and the land through gentle stewardship to protect the biodiversity and build good soil. Breath of Life Farm is being regeneratively developed to cultivate elderberries, vineyards, peaches, mushrooms, and small plantations of trees for wood or nuts. My sister, Pam, and I hope that visitors will come to enjoy the seasonal changes of flower colors, watch for foot and hoof prints of wildlife, enjoy the songs of the birds and the frogs, see how many different native mushroom species they can spot, and be marveled by the stars as they sparkle in the dark night sky. Our wish is that through the years, folks return to see the changes and positive impact of regenerative farming practices. To be a witness to the life breathed into this land. We hope you will be inspired, uplifted, strengthened, and energized by the story of Breath of Life Farm. Peace and blessings, SandraLearn more about this land:Drive up to very private site. Gus' Farm at Muscadine

5 sites · RVs10 acres · Muscadine, AL
Used to be a horse farm.  Now it belongs to Gus, who is the size of a small horse.  We have chickens, grow our own vegetables, and are starting a dairy goat herd.Learn more about this land:There is plenty of space to choose where to set up camp. There is a wooded area available as well as open field and small stream with shade. There are plenty of trees to hang hammocks, or use the rings already set up at the horse barn (still outside, but covered).  I also welcome bike campers, horse campers, truck tents, car tents, and Combi/Microbus/Bulli for dry camping.  There are no hook-ups.  I do not have proper space for motorhomes or large pull-behind travel trailers, but a small, vintage-type might fit.  I am also looking into the possibility of flat places for small RVs.There is a one-room cabin with camp stove, mini fridge, running water, and bathroom with stand-up shower which will be available soon***Nearby attractions include (and will be updated as I discover them):**PLEASE NOTE:  All distances are approximateTHE JUNCTION (.25m) - They sometimes have live musicLAZY RIVER RENTALS (3m) - I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds fun.  It's on the Tallapoosa RiverHISTORIC POSSUM SNOUT, GA (6m) - Yes, I said that.  There is a possum drop on New Year's EveHELTON HOWLAND MEMORIAL PARK (+/- 7m) - Military vehicles, equipment, picnic pavilion, waking trail, fishing.
