    Of the northern U.S., that is. Pitch your tent at Franz Jevne State Park Campground, then peer across the Rainy River—that’s Canada on the other side! The campground here provides easy access to the river, numerous hiking trails, and a rock outcrop in the center of the park. Snag one of the walk-in sites on the eastern end of the park to be super close to the river’s section of rapids and the boat launch. Don’t forget to wave hello to the neighborly Canadians if you explore the river’s northern banks!

If you’re looking for a spot to overnight on your trip across Ontario, this is it! Private, rarely used and well taken care of. Note that there is a cabin on the property that is not available for use and locked.
