Kayaking/Paddling You can hand carry your gear thru the beach path, and down the stairs to launch right at the beach, or launch at the town marina 2 miles away. Both options are free. Lobster fishing takes place in the deep water right in front of the property. Watch the boats and fishermen out for the days catch. You can enjoy the catch too ! There are several lobster piers in town, to purchase lobsters, crabs and other seafood right off the boat. Enjoy the most spectacular sunrises over the ocean you will ever see ! With an easterly view, you can't get any better. On a clear day, when the solar positioning, and atmosphere is just right, you may witness the elusive green flash just as the sun breaks on the horizon... truly amazing ! Don't forget about the Moon Too ! The same dramatic easterly ocean view, also has the best moon rise viewing available. If the lunar cycle is right, the Moon Man will will greet you with awe inspiring colors, and brightness, that you will never forget ! Bald eagles nest in the Forest Surrounding the property, other seabirds, and wildlife are commonplace. The pure uninterrupted darkness of the clear skies, offers ultimate celestial gazing. Stars, constellations, and even other planets can be easily seen with the naked eye. Good Binoculars will enhance the experience. Also, distant lighthouse beacons can be seen from the islands nearby, and offshore. Artists, Photographers, and Writers can get creative here. Quiet, Magical, Inspiring, rugged landscape and ocean views, are sure to get the imagination going. You may want to experience the land everyday, but if not, there is also the option of Hiking in the many public wild conservation, and wild preserve lands in the nearby area. There are also many Historical locations and other natural features, to visit in surrounding areas, and there is a historical society in town. Another option is day or half day trips. World famous Acadia National Park makes for a wonderful day trip. West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Lubec, is another fine example and a great place to see. If you like to make little side trips, make a plan, as there is a seemingly endless amount of worthy visits within a drive from the property. There is a supermarket, hardware, lumberyard, and marine supply stores in town for supplies, gasoline, diesel, propane, and other necessities. Eating out options are possible as well. There are some options right in town, but more options a short drive to other neighboring areas. You will need to acknowledge, and agree to the rental agreement / liability waiver / Rules before you will be allowed to experience a stay at Searenity. This information is available in the RULES section of the booking and site details. By requesting to book, or booking, or staying at Searenity, You automatically acknowledge and agree to all of the terms listed. Searenity is off-grid private land, with no lighting, with gravel access roads only. The access during dark hours, is difficult for new arrivals, we REQUIRE THAT GUESTS ARRIVE DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS ONLY. We have a working farm and DO NOT have Cell phones. We are near the computer or our LAND LINE phone, maybe a few times a day. If you need to contact us, e-mail or Call and leave a message with your contact info, on our land line message machine, if there is no answer. There is NO TEXTING. We also will drive through the Searenity guest area several times a day to check on things, and if you need anything you can always ask in person.     A beautiful island campground thickly forested with spruce, fir, and birch, Four Acre Woods was created over 60 years ago on Sunshine Island, Maine. Under the name Sunshine Campground, it hosted people from all over the world and delivered the spirit and essence of this ancient, abundant land that so many ancestors had roamed and celebrated before. It was open to the public through to the 90s, but then sat alone for 15 years, waiting for someone to revive it and bring it back to the world. Then one day, Caleb and Wolf met on a bus, heading south from Down East Maine, where they instantly connected and joined forces. They worked together redressing a home in Stonington for visitors to experience and became brothers while doing so. Eventually, the presence and opportunity of the campground caught their attention and after working out the technicalities, they worked together to bring this beautiful land and campground back to the people under its new life and name, Four Acre Woods. Guests can savor fresh eggs, as well as vegetables from the greenhouse and garden, which they are welcome to pick themselves. Additionally, there is a natural spring-fed pond spanning 2 acres, where guests can enjoy kayaking, canoeing, rowing, and pedal boating with all equipment, including paddles and life jackets, provided on site. All sites are within walking distance of a very clean restroom, which is equipped with a flush toilet, a sink with running water, and a solar-powered light that turns on automatically. Additionally, there is an ample supply of toilet tissue and paper towels, and it also smells good too! NOTE: NO SHOWER AVAILABLE Each tent site features a fire pit and a picnic table. Guests can take pleasure in the hiking trails or venture into the woods to discover the natural beauty of this 25-acre homestead. Relax by the pond and watch for beavers, raccoons, blue herons, and even eagles. Enjoy the sound of the natural spring well as its ice-cold water is pumped to the homestead using solar power. Searching for and eating blueberries, wild strawberries, and blackberries can be a delightful activity. Savor the cool evenings by stargazing, observing fireflies, and listening to the chorus of frogs and owls. Witness the workings of an operational sawmill. This site is 10 miles from Acadia National Park (Schoodic side) where there are mountain bike and hiking trails. Want to swim and kayak in freshwater? Jones Pond is just a few miles away and has a public beach.  Take a ferry to Bar Harbor and then retreat to the quiet side of the Bay.  Hike Schoodic Mountain and take a swim at the end on Donnell Pond.  Restaurants and shops are ready for you in Winter Harbor.  Enjoy the sunrise trail for 4 wheelers only a few miles from the campsite. Before you make a reservation read the description of each site, there are 5 different names of the choices with different options. . Read all of the info, and when you submit your request please include/verify the following info: Is everyone in your group at least 21?/No kids or pets traveling with you.? What sort or camping unit.? Tent/RoofTent/RV/Hammock/Trailer./Van./ Box Truck or creative bus conversion/Cowboy Camper…? Your reservation request will not be accepted until we have those responses so including that with your reservation request is what we need to know. Several of us live/work/answer messages here. Calling, directly by telephone in advance of reserving is STRONGLY advised and it is mandatory to arrange your arrival time with the staff to be allowed entry. Clarity with your request is necessary. At check out look at the “extras” section to include any pre purchases or rentals. For those flying in or wanting to travel light, you can select “The Works” which includes a tent, bedding , firewood , towels ,chairs, a cooler and numerous camping supplies including coffee and cups. Great for spontaneous adventures and we will have the tent site ready for you to just show up. Easy! Our camping section is located on the property of Kisma Preserve. Home to abundant local wildlife and our own resident animals , Including domestic and non domestic and our favorite, Wolves. . Most of the staff live here full time all year. The sounds of the night are magical. Unleash your imagination and camp here away from the crowds that exist within the local Acadia National Park area which begins about 5 minutes away at Thompson’s Island and the bridge to Mt Desert Island. We are close to basic necessities, and a step away from the masses. We do educational tours daily and if interested these tours are arranged by reservation too by phone or in person only. We may allow camping in Winter months but if it is between November and May it is very important to call and find out the accessibility as weather impacts everything. The shower will likely be unavailable in freezing months and some sites are closed. CALL and speak with a staff member before reserving. Self contained Adventure Vans and tent campers with Winter Gear and Rooftop Tents can be accommodated. Or If you want to have a solid roof , screens and a fabulous view ask about reserving our Cadillac Mountain View Loft or if the idea of being naked under the stars is appealing opt for our Raw and Rough site.! Pulling in late, and leaving early for a typical Sunrise reservation.? We can also accommodate that if we know that is all you want. Traveling with your horse.? Talk to us about an Equine site. The Biker’s Bunkhouse is ideal for motorcycle travelers as it shelters both the guest and the Bike/s. Always call, we can answer all questions to get you into the right site for your style of adventuring. With each listing be sure to READ all the information and the rules. If you are interested in a spontaneous camping adventure, if your luggage got lost or if you just don’t want to deal with transporting camping gear we have a variety of rental equipment.     Come relax on this private 5 acre waterfront escape. A long driveway will open up into a cleared lot. The end of the driveway is a large crushed gravel parking pad which should easily accommodate any RV or trailer (make sure you back in, there's no room to turn around). The pad is mostly flat, but minor leveling on RV's is probably still needed. Site overlooks Flanders Bay which feeds into Mount Desert Narrows. Watch the family of 5 eagles fly back and forth across the cove and bring binoculars to watch them as they perch in nearby trees. The cove is filled with a variety of seabirds and the occasional harbor seal. You will have complete quiet as you listen to the sounds of forest and coastal life.Property is located 11 miles from Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National park and a quick 35 miles from Bar Harbor. From May through mid November, site includes access to a HOT outdoor shower, well water, a working sink with hot water. Water is turned off after November 15th until late spring, weather dependent. NEW THIS YEAR- we have installed a 50/30 AMP hookup for trailers/RV's - we do charge $15 extra per night for hookups, please coordinate with us at time of booking if you will need power for your camper - There is an electric outlet for small electronics like laptops/phones/coffee pot, site includes a campfire area, lots of open spaces to pitch a tent, and an outhouse. While on the boat, look for wildlife such as seals, harbor porpoise, bald eagles and other waterfowl. Arriving in Bar Harbor, enjoy shopping, restaurants and other in town activities. -Cycle down the 29 mile Schoodic National Scenic Byway. -17 miles to Schoodic Peninsula and the famous Schoodic Point, where you can catch amazing ocean views. -5 minute drive to Prospect Harbor Lighthouse. Places to eat: The property is located a short drive from scenic Winter Harbor, which has a variety of locally owned restaurants. It's also only about a 25 minute drive to Ellsworth, which also has multiple eating options and grocery stores. Bar Harbor is only about 40 minutes from the property as well, which boasts some amazing eateries, shops, and other activities. NOTE: This site is fully off-grid and requires walking approximately 3-4 minutes on a forest trail from the parking area to get to the site. All equipment must be hand-carried in. There is limited power and potable water. Guests should be prepared for an off-grid yurt experience. Bedding and cookware also are not provided. Our camp is located on a quaint pristine, offshore Maine island. We are an easy 1 mile walk from the ferry landing once you arrive. NEW! We just added a shared use golf cart for our guests to get to and from camp! Great Cranberry Island is a beautiful peaceful place where the pace of life slows, nature abounds and the stars are bright. There is a small well stocked general store,, a museum, cafe and miles of pristine trails and rocky beaches to explore. Bicycles can be brought on the passenger ferries and are a great way to get around and further explore the island. Our camp is on the site of our former organic farm called Cabin Creek Farm overlooking the ocean (a tidal estuary called the pool), where we grew flowers, herbs and veggies. You can even kayak directly to us at high tide. The sites are a combo of a mixed manicured deciduous and conifer forest and open spaces with ocean views. "Once you have slept on an island, you'll never be quite the same!"

    If camping in the spring or summer make sure to book way in advance, campsites get full quick at Acadia National Park. Very quiet and plenty of space for your tent and ample parking for large vehicles.

    Came here lots as a kid but never really appreciated it. Wasn't until I camped here as an adult did I revel in its beauty. Sure, It's huge & busy but each site is a good size, clean, it's close to all the attractions & the NPS shuttle makes stops here during the summer. Stock up on blueberries & popovers from Jordon Pond & you're golden!

    This was a great campground, location-wise. It really is exactly where you want to be staying to explore the National Park. It was a little crowded and sites were very close together. but overall it was just what we needed since we were out hiking all day!

    Great facilities! It has a trail to hike Cadillac Mountain so you can avoid the hassle of parking. Book in advance - it does fill up!

    You can enter and stay if the office is closed for check in, just make sure to check in the next day. AWESOME hiking all around, but need car to get to more popular spots (ex. Cadillac Mountain). No showers, but shower house just down the road.

    Site A30 is amazing. Set back and a bit more private than the others but still close to the trailhead and the path to the ocean overlook,

    Great Campground but requires a NPS pass in addition to the camping fee. Campground lacks showers but a private shower service is available at the entrance

    Definitely a spot to see!! but advanced planning is definitely a must! Blackwoods is nice as it offers the opportunity for a camping experience while visiting the national park, but is also accessible both for car campers and hikers to have easy access to Bar Harbor. Make use of the free public bus to and from the campground to explore-- huge help & takes you to the Park Loop Road, a must.

    Bring a flashlight! They are not kidding when the name says, "Blackwoods." Gorgeous campground, quiet and peaceful.

    Great facilities with a prime location. Walking distance from one of the best views in Maine. Which is hard for me to say after all the beauty we saw camping our way up the coast of Maine. So trust me, it's good. And yes it does fill up quick!

    Stayed here in September and loved it. The campground is quiet and clean. There are bathrooms on-site but you do need to drive to the showers.
