Settle down for the night in a secluded sand pine forest at Little Manatee River Campground.
The 34 campsites here come tricked out with water and electric hookups, a fire ring, and a picnic table. Four of the sites are designated for equestrian camping, so leave these for folks with neighing and braying friends. If you really want to get away from it all, check out the primitive campground located about 2.5 miles off the park’s main hiking trail.
I am an occasional camper and member of a hiking group Florida Trail Association that meets for a Thanksgiving lunch here every November. It’s a great woodsy Park. I’ve camped in my car, a small tent alone, shared a tent with a friend and this year camped in an A liner. For me this park is 4-5 stars. The bathrooms are closed and a trailer of very small temporary lavatories are being used till replacement bath house is built.

You'll need to transport your kayak quite a ways to reach the river
