South Fork Campground
Description
Travel down a rough dirt road into the foothills for some remote Sequoia National Park camping at South Fork Campground, named for its location at the South Fork of the Kaweah River. Two nearby trailheads lead to lots of hilly climbs through oak trees and evergreens, making South Fork the perfect place to get your hike on. You can set up your tent any time of year at South Fork Campground, but at over 7,000 feet, expect lots of snow if you visit during the winter months. We should note that camping is free from late October to May, so maybe it’s worth enduring the cold. Choose from 10 primitive sites, all located right where the oak groves turn into evergreens.
