The North Rim Campground is filled with towering trees, shady sites, and the quiet nostalgia the North Rim is known for.

Sites for RVs, tents, and groups are nearby to water, restrooms, general store, and even pay showers. A quick jaunt along the Transept trail will take you to the historic Grand Canyon Lodge for ice cream, or along the rim for a sunset show you won’t believe! If you’re feeling really adventurous, book a backcountry permit to stay in this campground in the winter! Since the North Rim operates seasonally, you can snowshoe or ski in, and feel like you’re king of the rim in the quiet solitude of the cooler months. We’re North Rim fans and you will be too!

We tent camped at North Rim Campground on Friday, October 25th, 2019. (High: 72F, Low 35F). We reserved one of the last remaining sites online about 4 days before arriving. Even though the campground was nearly fully booked online, the reality was that less than half of the sites were actually occupied which was a bummer to see. With that being said, if you're desperate and find yourself in the area in late October, you can always check in with a ranger to see if any sites have been released due to multiple night booking no-shows. (I'm not aware if there is a system in place for this, perhaps someone else can ask a ranger and update us here!) The camp features flush toilets and running water. Each site has a a picnic table and fire pit.

I actually camped at Havasupai Campground but it was not listed on the site. You need to commit early and get permits because it is very popular but worth it! It is a 10 mile hike in from the rim.

We came here during spring break so it was still a little cool at night, like 35 degrees and during the day it was around 60. Perfect if you have warm gear and like hiking without sweating! The grounds were quiet and not too crowded with plenty of space in between each site. A short hike and your on the rim! Would definitely come back during this time again. Love the GC.

pay more for the premium sites if you can get one. They are right on the rim, and have the best views. The tent sites are off to the side, and don't have much in the way of views, but are conveniently located to a great view

Always bring more water than you think. We are prepared for 120 degree weather at all times, especially when you hike down in the canyon, always bring at least two liters of water. North rim is always much more quiet than the south rim ( in personal opinion) We go once a year and haven't been disappointed! There is always so much to do so make sure you give yourself at least three full days.

So much better than South Rim, but much chillier, so bring warm gear

Best campground at GC! Less populated, can be on the edge of the rim to watch sunsets. Just remember to stay safe during lightening storms.

Beautiful campground. Make reservations! I tried to get a site I thought would have a view of the canyon. It's not possible - all peripheral sites look into the woods. I was disappointed until I saw site #9. Fabulous! Campsites are all pull through & spaced nicely. We couldn't see the canyon, but you can hear the wind rushing up through it. No hookups. Modern bathrooms. Coin showers on the premises & they stay busy ALL DAY! There's a trail that will take you the Lodge & Visitor Center. The North Rim ROCKS! The North Rim does close for the winter, so keep that in mind when looking to visit.

Stayed here at least four times in the past three years. It is great! $1.50 shower for 6 minutes; plenty of time! SHOWERS CLOSE AT 8PM, though! Even if you're not staying, use the NR Campground as the place to shower-up before going to dinner at the Lodge. Campsites are nicely spaced, plenty of elbow room. Restrooms are always nearby. Very quiet. Great star-gazing. Short walk to the Rim via Transept Trail.
