Dredge spoils were transported and placed creating a tract of land
that rises 50 feet above the river and surrounding lands.
The New York Power Authority acquired the property from the Leishman's who owned and operated a farm on the surrounding lands.
In 2000, the New York Power Authority deemed the property surplus and conveyed it to the Town of Waddington.

Ogdensburg has Lowe's, Aldi's and Walmart. Thousand Islands is 20 minutes from us. Mini Golf on rte 6 10-15min. Langbrook Meadows Golf is 20 minutes. State Launch Ramp is 15 minutes away. Jacques State park has a beach. AMENITIES: THE CAMPER IS ON OUR PROPERTY 100YDS FROM BLACK LAKE. You'll have full access to the Lake. There is also a loft, that overlooks the living area with 5 beds, 2 singles, 2 doubles, and a queen. The camp is on a bank over looking the lake off a private road. Access to the lake is directly from the back right of the camp down a little path with staked in steps and a hand rail. Available for use are 3 kayaks, a canoe and 2 paddle boats for your enjoyment along with life vests.
Guests have access to the entire house, use of the yard, propane grill, fire pit, 3 kayaks, a canoe, and a 2 paddle boats.
Guests are also able to enjoy walking the private road around the lake.
Bug Spray is provided but feel free to bring your own. I supply the brand OFF.
Please respect any neighbors, property, and obey all posted signs.
Guests will not have access to the shed.
Please be respectful of the camp as I am opening my getaway home to share its beauty with you. All I ask is you respect and treat it as your own.
Rural, secluded, wooded area in Amish country, roads are shared with horse and buggies please use caution. Then road to the camp is accessible by gravel/dirt private road. Blind curves and narrow road, again please use caution.
Camp is located not too far from exploring surrounding areas like Black Lake, the Thousand Islands, Canada, Sackets Harbor, Clayton, Alexandria Bay and Watertown, and the Adirondack Park. They all are within a day's travel.
The water is supplied by a spring fed well and is perfectly safe to drink, shower, and cook with.
The lake is private and unfortunately offers no public access for motorized boats.

Located in a hay meadow that is farmed 2 to 3 times a year to provide food for our animals. Next to the meadow is a mix of maple and pine trees. In the spring we use the maple trees for maple syrup production. Learn more about this land:This site is close to the road but easy to access. It is located where there was once an old stone barn, and all that is left is the stone foundation. Set around shrubbery trees, with two big maples at the parking spot to provide shade and coverage. You look out to an open hay meadow. That abuts our maple sugar stand with a mix of pine trees in the woods. You will be able to watch lots of deer frolic and play in the meadow and hear the sounds of the wildlife and birds around the woods. You may hear the occasional horse-drawn carriage as our neighbors are Amish and utilize the road frequently. In the distance, you might hear a stray moo as we have three farms on the road that are home to a variety of cows.On the campsite, you are more than welcome to bring a pet and let them safely roam around the field, or take a walk around yourself. LOCATION: We are located 30 miles from Ogdensburg, NY, on Black Lake. 40 miles from Fort Drum, a good commute if you work on Drum. Hubby and I do it everyday and it isn't so bad and 2 hrs from Syracuse. Echo's gas station is located 10 minutes from us and has gas, kerosene and propane. Great pizza and wings and odds and ends. Ogdensburg has Lowe's, Aldi's and Walmart. Thousand Islands is 20 minutes from us. Mini Golf on rte 6 10-15min. Langbrook Meadows Golf is 20 minutes. State Launch Ramp is 15 minutes away. Jacques State park has a beach. AMENITIES: THE CAMPER IS ON OUR PROPERTY 100YDS FROM BLACK LAKE. You'll have full access to the Lake. So feel free to bring your kayaks, paddle boards and canoes, boats and fishing poles (great fishing). We have some kayaks you can use too with lifejackets

The camp is cozy, yet well appointed with everything you will need for a comfortable stay. The living space is one floor with 2 bedrooms, bath, kitchen (fully stocked with all cook wear and dishes and utensils), gas fireplace and screened in porch overlooking the lake. There is also a loft, that overlooks the living area with 5 beds, 2 singles, 2 doubles, and a queen. The camp is on a bank over looking the lake off a private road. Access to the lake is directly from the back right of the camp down a little path with staked in steps and a hand rail. Available for use are 3 kayaks, a canoe and 2 paddle boats for your enjoyment along with life vests.
Guests have access to the entire house, use of the yard, propane grill, fire pit, 3 kayaks, a canoe, and a 2 paddle boats.
Guests are also able to enjoy walking the private road around the lake.
Bug Spray is provided but feel free to bring your own. I supply the brand OFF.
Please respect any neighbors, property, and obey all posted signs.
Guests will not have access to the shed.
Please be respectful of the camp as I am opening my getaway home to share its beauty with you. All I ask is you respect and treat it as your own.
Rural, secluded, wooded area in Amish country, roads are shared with horse and buggies please use caution. Then road to the camp is accessible by gravel/dirt private road. Blind curves and narrow road, again please use caution.
Camp is located not too far from exploring surrounding areas like Black Lake, the Thousand Islands, Canada, Sackets Harbor, Clayton, Alexandria Bay and Watertown, and the Adirondack Park. They all are within a day's travel.
The water is supplied by a spring fed well and is perfectly safe to drink, shower, and cook with.
The lake is private and unfortunately offers no public access for motorized boats.

Most of the property is woods (pine plantation and natural hard wood forest) crisscrossed by park like trails. You can count on finding some peace and solitude if that is what you desire. Also, there are many state parks, preserves, lakes, rivers and other enjoyable attractions nearby. Our hilltop campsite is a dark site, and you can get a wonderful, clear view of the stars!

Wonderful spot and view! We were the only ones there which was great as the sites are very close together. They are not in the field anymore and lined up side by side. We’re not sure how we would have liked it if others were there. But the views were awesome. We do travel with our dog and there are a lot of dog walkers especially in the evening. Most are respectful and keep their dogs on leash but not everyone and we did have a dog run up to us while we were in our screen tent having dinner with our dog. We wish people would respect the rules but there’s always people who don’t. We were there mid September.

I had the pleasure of staying here for the night, and it was a wonderful experience! Even though I booked very last minute, I felt completely welcomed. While I didn’t get the chance to meet Nicole in person, I had a great conversation with David, who was incredibly accommodating and down-to-earth. He made me feel right at home (away from home).
I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!

I was in the Potsdam area for several days and found this gem on hipcamp. The site is at the corner of a huge hayfield. No other people in sight, although some deer did wander across the far edge of the field one evening.
I went over and met the sheep and cows. That is definitely an add on to consider for this site.
Coffee at Park Bagels in Canton is super convenient, and if you are in a rush, there is a Tim Horton's nearby.

A nice four site HipCamp overlooking the St Lawrence River and Canada. It looks like they are working on adding utilities. We had a nice constant breeze from the west that kept us cool. It is a public park so you will see others and a lot of people took advantage of the open campsites for the river view. There were also a lot of dogs off lead so watch where you step. The cut pasture made for a nice hiking trail and the beach and playground areas looked nice. We didn’t need it, but we never found where to get potable water or where to discard your trash bag at the beach keepers cabin.

The view is amazing. James, the host gets back to you quickly with answers your questions. I loved watching the sunset and the barges going by. The restrooms are clean and available during the day. There is swimming in the park on the same property and a wonderful playground if you bring kids. They have made a lot of improvements to the campsites including rock driveway and pads. I very nice park.

Wonderful place to stay. Quiet and peaceful. Peggy gave us a tour of the farm. Trail walks along the pasture fences with horses coming up to us. Lots of shade and some sun. Close to towns but in the country. Hosts were great. Came to meet us and were very helpful.

Overview
About
If you stand anywhere in this park, you'll see water. Half of the campsites are directly on the waterfront, either Goose Bay or the St. Lawrence River. You may be in New York, but across the river sits Canada (eh).
Bring a boat to explore the 1700 islands in the immediate area. Some of the islands are parks unto themselves. If you're lucky, you might see wildlife sipping some water in the bay or the river.
The swimming beach is perfect for hot summer days. If you want to stay dry, there's a volleyball court and a picnic area. This relatively small peninsula means you're never very far away from your campsite.
Campgrounds stay open from April to October. Pitch a tent to feel close to nature and hear the water. Virtually every spot has a view of the water. Go glamping during the winter in the rental cabins. Visitors can cross country ski when there's snow.

My boyhood favorite! It's a peninsula jutting out into the St. Lawrence River. Sit on the rocks around the fire as the sun goes down in blazing glory over the river. The river is also an International waterway featuring freight bearing ships traveling from ports within the Great Lakes to destinations throughout the globe.
