We are located on 12 wooded acres. We have goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, and, of course, our dogs and cats. We are located approximately 12 miles from Buescher/Bastrop State Park and approximately 15 miles from Rocky Hill Ranch, a mountain bike ranch. There is kayak rental available in both Smithville and Bastrop, where you can kayak down the Colorado River. Smithville has some unique, local restaurants or you can grill at your campsite on the gas grill provided.Great place to get out of the city and reconnect with nature. Walk in the woods or visit the goats, sheep, pigs and chickens on the homestead . Great for families with a play house, swing and slide available. A one of a kind camping experience. We have several campsites styles available including secluded in the woods or near the path.

Zimmerhazel
19 ft campervan
Great camping spot close to start of the zimmerhazel gravel event. Even if you’re not participating in the event it is a great place to camp if you just want to ride. It is primitive camping so be prepared for that. Hosts were nice people and accommodating.

Small trip but big fun
Tent · With kids
My young daughter and I enjoyed hanging out at JFF Ranch. I highly recommend it, especially if you got lil ones. It felt like we were visiting wonderful grandparents that we didn't have. They made us feel at home and relaxed. Off the top of my head: we enjoyed the propane powered fire 🔥 fire place that was an adequate sub for a traditional campfire due to the burn ban of the region at this time. This was important to us! The trail to the campsites was cleared but still shady enough to feel like you're at a park. The air smelled of fresh juniper amd cedar. Their wagon was a godsend because I didn't bring our own and I had overpacked for just one night. lol. Plenty of privacy. I was impressed with their clean cabin bathroom, no odor at all. My daughter loved seeing and feeding the animals and playing in the playhouse. There was also a huge water tub for us to cool off in, which we did. Her biggest highlight was getting treated to a ride on a big ol' red tractor. She wants to go back already. We left yesterday. That says a lot. Thank you Belinda and Keith for hosting us and helping us make some fun memories!

Best of both worlds.
With kids
My childhood buddy and I took our kids camping at Balinda's to relive our boy scout days and introduce it to them. The experience we had did not disappoint in the least. What we liked most about the JFF Ranch was that we were able to have the best of both worlds. We were able to pitch our own tent, light a huge campfire, have night hikes in the woods and build structures using our rope and fallen trees as we did in our boy scout days while still having the security and comfort of retreating to the two queen sized beds of a safari tent annexed by a toilet and bath which provided hot water on demand. The added attractions of the hillbilly pool and the "mini zoo" were only outdone by the warm hospitality of Balinda and her husband. It all made for an awesome weekend.

Belinda and her husband were welcoming and hospitable. They also provided a wagon which was very helpful for transporting our gear into the woods. Once there, we enjoyed the solitude and peace, punctuated by a typical country chorus of farm animals. The tent was more like a cabin, spacious and furnished but cozy. We especially appreciated that it kept us perfectly dry when it rained all morning! We also enjoyed the fire pit with its supply of cedar firewood, and the hammock when the weather was dry. A nice one-night retreat from city life.:-)

Checks all the boxes!
We had an incredible stay at this hidden gem! From the moment we arrived, Keith, our host, made us feel right at home with a warm welcome and a taste of his cold homemade beer – a true delight! His stories and insights into the sawmill workings added a unique touch to our stay. The handmade tent area exceeded our expectations, offering hot water, a heater, cozy towels, and a remarkably comfortable bed. Cooking over the fire pit with wood from the property added a delicious flavor to our meals. Keith and Belinda's hospitality was unmatched. They went above and beyond, replenishing our gas and treating us to another round of their fantastic beer. We even got to purchase a dozen fresh eggs to bring home with us! This spot provided the perfect setting for our Valentine's anniversary – tranquil, friendly, and private. The combination of the serene atmosphere, Keith and Belinda's warm hospitality, the cozy tent, the grill, and of course, the delicious beer made our stay truly unforgettable. We can't wait to return to this wonderful spot!

Getting away from the city life!
Our small family wanted to reconnect with our last teenager. The seclusion was conducive to achieving that goal. Belinda and Keith are perfect hosts. Their little paradise was what I needed to rejuvenate. After six hours of camp, I feel all the stress melted away. The area around our canvas tent is completely out of sight of the main house. You don't feel this seclusion even at state parks. Hence do not be surprised when you enter the gate where the main house is located. Your guest area is not in the view of the main house. Book this place for your mind and body to relax! The animals on the property were also a bonus!
