Year-round dog-friendly glamping with lovely hosts and hot tubs in North Wales

Bed, breakfast, and all the bells and whistles of glamping are on offer at Woody’s, deep in the Welsh countryside. Each of the three accommodation options at this boutique glamping site has its own toilet, shower, and hot tub. It’s a peaceful part of the world with the sounds of the countryside and views of moors and mountains. And though it feels pretty remote, with the nearest shop three miles away, you’re very much on the grid, with electricity and WiFi both on offer so you don’t have to go without. You’re also just a 15-minute drive from the coast at Colwyn Bay and the same distance from the mountains of Eryri National Park (formerly Snowdonia).

You’re well hosted at Woody’s Glamping and that’s thanks to Woody himself (aka James) and his wife, Tracey. Their micro glamping site is tucked behind their house in the Conwy hills and they provide a very warm welcome that settles you into the site. They also offer breakfasts, pizza nights, and home-cooked dinners as optional extras, which are served around the communal oak table of Woody’s Shack or to your tent or cabin.

When it comes to the accommodation, you can choose from Bella’s Tent, Hoot Tent and Gracie’s Cabin. Each of this trio offers a comfortable base for a glamping getaway—and you won't have seen anything quite like any of them elsewhere. Hoot is a super-sized lozenge-shaped dome that can sleep up to six. Bella’s is a log cabin-bell tent hybrid that can sleep up to four. Gracie’s is a 300-year old outbuilding that’s been converted into a comfortable place to stay. Recycled and reclaimed materials are cleverly used to make places that are as sustainable as they are stylish. Outside, you have a fire pit, a hot tub, and a place to sit while you gaze at stars and mountains. Though gazing at them is not your only option—you can head out to explore. Snowdon itself is about 30 miles away and, as this is North Wales, there are plenty more adventures in between.

Hoot Tent
Rural and rustic - how we like it
A lovely short stay at Hoot tent, Woody’s glamping with our dog. A shame we couldn’t stay longer but we had a lovely night and were treated to a beautiful sunrise. Great communication from James prior to our arrival and lots of helpful information in the welcome book. A very generously sized tent with all the basics you could need. The hot water bottles were appreciated and we were grateful it wasn’t too cold during our stay - it’s quite tricky to warm such a big tent (the sun does a fab job in the mornings though!). The toilet & shower was a short walk from the tent but it was lovely and rustic. The hot tub was our favourite part! Note for dog owners - you can use the field infront of the tents for them to have a run around but each unit doesn’t have an enclosed garden. The owners also have some gorgeously friendly dogs that will pop over and say hello.

Welcome to Woody's Luxury Glamping. We are nestled in the foothills of Snowdonia, where we can offer you peace and tranquility, fun and adventure, lazy beach days and lots more great things to do and see on our doorstep. We are a family run business and what makes us happy is making you happy. In order to make your glamping experience memorable, we have installed a private hot tub for each of our 3 units, Bella, Hoot (our tents) and our barn conversion, Gracie's Lodge. Our guests love to sip bubbly in the bubbles whilst stargazing on a clear night. We also have a Tuscan outdoor wood-fired oven which just makes the best tasting Pizzas amongst other lovely slow roasted gourmet meals. You all have your own seating areas, BBQ and firepits. Here, you will find peace and tranquility, set in the Snowdonia Foothills and we are only 15 minutes away from the coast and 15 minutes from Snowdonia National Park. There is lots going on in our part of North Wales, and yet if you seek peace and tranquility you will find it here. We are a pet friendly site. More dogs the merrier! Nearby attractions

There’s a footpath that runs along a track through Woody’s smallholding with options for plenty of walks in the surrounding countryside. For the seaside, head north to pretty Rhos-on-Sea on Colwyn Bay. Alternatively, you can hire paddleboard from your hosts and head out on the water at Llyn Geirionydd, a mile-long lake (11 miles) that’s also a great spot for a waterside walk. The lake is within Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, where there are, of course, plenty more outdoor adventures. Walking, climbing and mountain biking are all popular here and there are high-adrenaline thrills at Zip World too: the treetop adventure at Betws Y Coed (11 miles), the zip lines of Penrhyn Quarry (26 miles) and the underground adventure at Bounce Below (21 miles). Snowdon itself is about 30 miles from site with various routes to tackle to reach the 1,085 summit – but there’s always the Snowdon Mountain Railway from Llanberis for anyone who wants views but not the walk.

Food and drink

You don’t need to leave Woody’s Glamping for a good feed as there are various options on offer (all at an extra charge). You can put in orders for breakfast the night before with a great menu of options from a bowl of porridge to a full Welsh breakfast, all cooked and served in the communal dining area of Woody’s Shack or direct to your tent or cabin. You can also book in a pizza-making experience with James or for homemade meals in the evening. Should you wish to try elsewhere, there are two pubs within (daytime) walking distance: The Holland Arms (just under two miles) and The Old Stag (three miles). If you’re looking for a special meal, perhaps book a table at Bryn Williams’ Bistro at Porth Eirias (eight miles). The closest shop is in Llangernyw, opposite The Old Stag. And there’s a bigger Co-op at Llanwrst (eight miles).
