The only Private Outdoor Rock Climbing Park in Utah

Crawdad Canyon is one of the only privately owned, outdoor rock climbing parks in the USA. Our unique climbing park offers much cooler temps, which allows you to climb all day, even on hot days in the desert. This is because our intimate canyon offers loads of shade and always has a cool breeze off the Santa Clara River.
Located in Southern Utah, just minutes from St George, we have 234 bolted climbing routes in solid basalt walls, scaling up to 85 feet high. Routes range in difficulty from 5.6 to 5.13, so there’s something for all ages and skill levels.
You’ll find brass plaques at the base of each climb, with the name and rating of each climb. We’ve had rock climbers from more than 25 different countries climb our canyon walls here in Veyo!

Catching crawdads is one of the most popular activities in our canyon! It’s a blast for all ages! There’s no better way to unplug your kids from the digital world and connect with nature. Our river has a much larger population of crawdads because there are tons of small, warm springs flowing into the water. This makes our stretch of the river warmer than normal, which encourages a greater number of crawdads.
Bring your own gear or purchase one of our specially assembled Crawdad Catching Kits. We hand-make our own crawdad catching poles, which will surely help you reel in the big ones. Our crawdad catching kits are just $15 and include the following gear:

1. Do you provide rock climbing equipment and guides?
No, if you come to go rock climbing in our canyon, you need to provide your own climbing equipment and/or guides.
2. How much does it cost to enter the canyon?
Our all-day Canyon Access Pass is $16 per person. Check out our Discount Punch Passes to save up to 50% on Canyon Access. This includes all activities in the canyon except Camping, which requires an additional nightly fee per campsite.
3. Can I park in the Canyon?
It depends. The county and local fire department restrict how many vehicles are allowed in the canyon. As a result, vehicles are only allowed if you reserve a campsite or picnic site.
4. Why do I have to sign a wavier to enter the property?
Our insurance carrier requires each person to sign a Liability Waiver. All adults must sign for themselves. Minors are required to have their parent or legal guardian sign the waiver on their behalf before accessing the canyon. Our waiver is available online: Sign Waiver Now
5. Can I have a fire at my campsite/picnic site?
Campers are only allowed to have fires if they are in covered fire pits. We provide a fire pit with each campsite/picnic site reservation. The Ultimate Campsite (#8) is the only site that allows for an open-flame fire because this fire pit is located against the cliffs.
6. What are your hours of operation?

7. Do you have showers?
Yes, we recently remodeled our showers and added hot water. Enjoy!
8. Can I bring my own food into the canyon and at the pool?
Yes, we allow you to bring your own food. However, most people love eating at our famous restaurant in the canyon (Lava Grill). We serve lunch, dinner, and snacks. NO GLASS is allowed in the pool area – no exceptions!
9. Is alcohol allowed on the property?
Yes, alcohol is allowed, yet only in certain areas. Alcohol is not allowed in the pool area. However, you may have it at your campsite/picnic site.
10. Is smoking allowed on the property?
No smoking is allowed in the canyon. We request that you go to the top of the canyon to smoke so it doesn’t disturb our non-smoking customers.
11. Are animals allowed on the property?
No animals, including dogs, may be brought into the Canyon, with the exception of ADA Service Animals. Please see the ADA FAQ page for details on what qualifies as a service animal. No, the road down into the canyon is too steep for RVs and Trailers. We’ve had many people try, but most get stuck. As a result, we don’t allow RVs/Trailers in the canyon. However, we have an area at the top of the canyon reserved for RV/Trailer parking and camping. There is a nightly fee of $35 for dry camping or parking your rig in this area.
13. Do you offer group discounts?

14. Can we take crawdads home?
No, we are a Catch-and-Release property. We ask all our visitors to leave the crawdads in the river because they won’t survive outside of their natural habitat. As a result, we ask everyone to catch and release all crawdads.

This site can host up to 20 RVs! It is about 320 feet by 320 feet. It is dry camping only, and makes spectacular evenings of gazing at the stars under completely natural skies! During the day, there are miles of dirt roads for riding motorcycles and ATV’s.
Hunting grounds are within six miles, Fishing, boating, water skiing and swimming are had at the Newcastle Reservoir, just 8 miles away! There is a gas station/country store/Grill with restrooms just 4 miles away!
The National Historical Site of the Mountain Meadow Massacre is just 20 minutes away. The wide-open, flat terrain is good for flying drones, setting up tents, or playing corn-hole.

Welcome to a great wide open desert retreat. Do as you please! No one is going to bother you. Let the animals loose, roll out the off road vehicles, ride bikes, and build a fire and enjoy that peaceful good outdoor life.
The old Spanish trail can be found nearby for hiking and/or biking and there are mountains and cool wildlife all around in the valley. The stars all pop completely present with no light pollution to spoil them.
Additionally, Southern Utah has so many other trails and beautiful places all over in almost any direction. Zion National Park is only a little over an hour drive away down I-15. I highly recommend Kanarraville Falls as well, as it's at most only 30 minutes away.
*** Getting to the property:
It is directly off of the "main" road which consists of a well kept wide dirt road. The GPS location will guide you straight there to an intersecting road with a stop sign called 1200 E which runs south the "main" road/4800 N/AKA Antelope Springs Rd. At this intersection, there is a trail running north marked with an orange post for fiber cable. That trail and road marks the bottom left corner of the property if you're facing north. Follow the trail and find your way anywhere on the right side, there are already some campsites made up, but you are also welcome to make your own to your hearts desire. Be mindful of your vehicle, cars can drive the trail but there is always a risk of getting stuck. You can also park on the main road as you are already at the property anyway and can just walk in a little ways to set up your camp.
**It's important to be aware of any fire warnings for Iron County, Utah. Do a Google search for fire threats and it should be the first thing you see. Most of the time, large bonfires will be highly discouraged. Use good judgment when building a fire of any size.
*Cedar City is a straight shot East if you need any medical attention.

This is the perfect place to come get a fresh perspective and some fresh air in the mountains, on the ranch. Close to some of the most popular hikes and National Parks, it’s a great place to escape to. The night sky is gorgeous. The stars and the Milky Way are visible and spilling across the sky. We have an outdoor fire pit where you can sit and melt into the night after a day of hiking. Or, On cold nights, hanging out by the fireplace in your own space, with a cup of hot cocoa.
The space
This is a whole, all inclusive space to yourself in my daylight basement apartment. There is, games, books, a TV, kitchen and fireplace. Cleaned and disinfected after every guest.
Guest access
We are on five acres and you are more than welcome to meander everywhere. There are lots of trees, benches and a tire swing. You are also welcome to say hi to the chickens and the horses, the goose and her entourage of ducks just beware the “Bad Rooster” he is mean and prays on the weak. Everyone else will all treat you like a rockstar if you bring them food. The wire around the horse pen is hot. So step inside, with the horses to say hi to them. They love carrots and apples.
Other things to note
We do have a washer and dryer on the premises. But they are not in the guest space. If you need a load or two done, I am more than happy to oblige.
We are on a septic system and anything besides toilet paper thrown down the toilet, Is bad, so please refrain from throwing in feminine hygiene products, cotton balls or paper towels down the toilet.
Decorative pillows are just for decoration. I only wash them once a season, so use the other pillows for sleeping.
It is helpful but in no way expected if you’d like to strip your beds at the end of your stay. I hope you have so much fun staying with us!

The only Private Outdoor Rock Climbing Park in Utah
IMPORTANT: All climbers must bring their own climbing equipment. There is no equipment at the property for rent or purchase.
Crawdad Canyon is one of the only privately owned, outdoor rock climbing parks in the USA. Our unique climbing park offers much cooler temps, which allows you to climb all day, even on hot days in the desert. This is because our intimate canyon offers loads of shade and always has a cool breeze off the Santa Clara River.
Located in Southern Utah, just minutes from St George, we have 234 bolted climbing routes in solid basalt walls, scaling up to 85 feet high. Routes range in difficulty from 5.6 to 5.13, so there’s something for all ages and skill levels.
You’ll find brass plaques at the base of each climb, with the name and rating of each climb. We’ve had rock climbers from more than 25 different countries climb our canyon walls here in Veyo!

Catching crawdads is one of the most popular activities in our canyon! It’s a blast for all ages! There’s no better way to unplug your kids from the digital world and connect with nature. Our river has a much larger population of crawdads because there are tons of small, warm springs flowing into the water. This makes our stretch of the river warmer than normal, which encourages a greater number of crawdads.
Bring your own gear or purchase one of our specially assembled Crawdad Catching Kits. We hand-make our own crawdad catching poles, which will surely help you reel in the big ones. Our crawdad catching kits are just $15 and include the following gear:

1. Do you provide rock climbing equipment and guides?
No, if you come to go rock climbing in our canyon, you need to provide your own climbing equipment and/or guides.
2. How much does it cost to enter the canyon?
Our all-day Canyon Access Pass is $16 per person. Check out our Discount Punch Passes to save up to 50% on Canyon Access. This includes all activities in the canyon except Camping, which requires an additional nightly fee per campsite.
3. Can I park in the Canyon?
It depends. The county and local fire department restrict how many vehicles are allowed in the canyon. As a result, vehicles are only allowed if you reserve a campsite or picnic site.
4. Why do I have to sign a wavier to enter the property?
Our insurance carrier requires each person to sign a Liability Waiver. All adults must sign for themselves. Minors are required to have their parent or legal guardian sign the waiver on their behalf before accessing the canyon. Our waiver is available online: Sign Waiver Now
5. Can I have a fire at my campsite/picnic site?
Campers are only allowed to have fires if they are in covered fire pits. We provide a fire pit with each campsite/picnic site reservation. The Ultimate Campsite (#8) is the only site that allows for an open-flame fire because this fire pit is located against the cliffs.
6. What are your hours of operation?

7. Do you have showers?
Yes, we recently remodeled our showers and added hot water. Enjoy!
8. Can I bring my own food into the canyon and at the pool?
Yes, we allow you to bring your own food. However, most people love eating at our famous restaurant in the canyon (Lava Grill). We serve lunch, dinner, and snacks. NO GLASS is allowed in the pool area – no exceptions!
9. Is alcohol allowed on the property?
Yes, alcohol is allowed, yet only in certain areas. Alcohol is not allowed in the pool area. However, you may have it at your campsite/picnic site.
10. Is smoking allowed on the property?
No smoking is allowed in the canyon. We request that you go to the top of the canyon to smoke so it doesn’t disturb our non-smoking customers.
11. Are animals allowed on the property?
No animals, including dogs, may be brought into the Canyon, with the exception of ADA Service Animals. Please see the ADA FAQ page for details on what qualifies as a service animal. No, the road down into the canyon is too steep for RVs and Trailers. We’ve had many people try, but most get stuck. As a result, we don’t allow RVs/Trailers in the canyon. However, we have an area at the top of the canyon reserved for RV/Trailer parking and camping. There is a nightly fee of $35 for dry camping or parking your rig in this area.
13. Do you offer group discounts?

14. Can we take crawdads home?
No, we are a Catch-and-Release property. We ask all our visitors to leave the crawdads in the river because they won’t survive outside of their natural habitat. As a result, we ask everyone to catch and release all crawdads.

Welcome to a great wide open desert retreat. Do as you please! No one is going to bother you. Let the animals loose, roll out the off road vehicles, ride bikes, and build a fire and enjoy that peaceful good outdoor life.
The old Spanish trail can be found nearby for hiking and/or biking and there are mountains and cool wildlife all around in the valley. The stars all pop completely present with no light pollution to spoil them.
Additionally, Southern Utah has so many other trails and beautiful places all over in almost any direction. Zion National Park is only a little over an hour drive away down I-15. I highly recommend Kanarraville Falls as well, as it's at most only 30 minutes away.
*** Getting to the property:
It is directly off of the "main" road which consists of a well kept wide dirt road. The GPS location will guide you straight there to an intersecting road with a stop sign called 1200 E which runs south the "main" road/4800 N/AKA Antelope Springs Rd. At this intersection, there is a trail running north marked with an orange post for fiber cable. That trail and road marks the bottom left corner of the property if you're facing north. Follow the trail and find your way anywhere on the right side, there are already some campsites made up, but you are also welcome to make your own to your hearts desire. Be mindful of your vehicle, cars can drive the trail but there is always a risk of getting stuck. You can also park on the main road as you are already at the property anyway and can just walk in a little ways to set up your camp.
**It's important to be aware of any fire warnings for Iron County, Utah. Do a Google search for fire threats and it should be the first thing you see. Most of the time, large bonfires will be highly discouraged. Use good judgment when building a fire of any size.
*Cedar City is a straight shot East if you need any medical attention.

When we arrived, the folks at the Inn had their truck in our spot and there was an abandoned vehicle in front of the sights. Took us awhile to get someone to answer the door but once they did they quickly moved their truck. The abandoned vehicle was never claimed during our 2-night stay. Great communication with Dann before our arrival but lost communication once we arrived. We were grateful for the FHU and wifi password the Dann sent us just before we arrived. Right off Hwy 93 so the traffic can be loud but otherwise we had two restful nights and a great time visiting the Cathedral Gorge State Park. We did have to drive the 14 miles into Caliente for something to eat.

I am so pleased we found this great place! The Orchards at Kolob RV Resort exceeded all of our expectations. The grounds are immaculate, with an impressive level of cleanliness throughout the property. The amenities are top-notch—especially the bathrooms, which are among the nicest we’ve seen at any RV park.
The location is incredibly convenient for exploring Zion National Park’s Kolob Canyons, and the surrounding views are absolutely stunning. Our site was spacious, level, and well-maintained, with plenty of room even for larger rigs.
What really made our stay exceptional, though, was the customer service. The staff here are so friendly and helpful, going out of their way to make guests feel welcome.
If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, and beautifully situated RV resort with fantastic service, this is the place. We can’t wait to return!

I had such a wonderful, peaceful trip. The resort is car camper friendly; which I appreciate as a solo SUV camper enthusiast, the concrete pads are nice and level.
The amenities are very clean and new, and the waterfall arch in the pool is a nice touch. Hot tub is VERY hot and I liked that! The fancy shower heads were an extra surprise for a weary traveler, no RV has pressure like that.
I ended up staying another day because I enjoyed the atmosphere, clean amenities and friendliness of the other campers. Travis was a wonderful host and I highly encourage you to book a night here if you’re heading to Zion but want to stay away from the chaos!

Perfectly level FHU within a mile of Cathedral Gorge State Park. We stayed 3 nights. Traffic can be loud; just run a fan. You can’t beat the convenience. Would stay again if we come back thru. This park is worth a visit despite being remote. Dann gave us great directions and recommended Pioche ( local town) and Spring Valley State Park. If you go stay on gravel road past the lake to see very cool rock formations. So worth it. Also cool teapot arch right in Panaca.

Weekend Trip to Sleep with the Sheep
It was a great place to camp. The land owner Todd is very nice and the host Emily has thought of everything. It is a long dirt road ride but once you get to camp, your camp is all set up with a kitchen, a tent, the fire was just about lit. The sheep come and go as it is a sheep farm. Green grass and lots of trees. There is a train that goes by and let's you know how the economy is. Better economy more trains. I loved the trains. Definitely read the message in hip camp. It has directions and pictures to get out there. Just a couple of hours from Las Vegas, it was great to unplug and just be. Don't put the address in Google as it will take you a different route. It was great at the end to just pack my clothes and cooler and leave. All the set up and clean up is taken care of for you. Thank you Todd for the land and Emily for the camp, it was great to be there and enjoy the family.

1 night at R-bar-T Ranch
We had a wonderful visit to the ranch! Rhonda was incredibly kind, ensuring we were comfortable & had everything we needed. It’s such a great location - we chose it for its proximity to major hikes in Zion National Park. Rhonda even recommended a drive just 5 minutes from the property to view the sunset - and it drove right through the gorgeous Kolob Canyons! We also loved the fresh eggs, picking berries, and getting to feed the horses. Has a nice campfire spot for colder months, too. Definitely recommend Rhonda & her beautiful space (:

We stayed at the Orchard's for 2 weeks in our 44ft toyhauler. It is a nice place to stay if visiting Zion or Kolob Canyon (very close). The staff is very friendly and the park feels private. They have a great patio area with fire pit and lounge area on the clubhouse. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend!

About
Off the Great Basin Highway near the Utah border, Beaver Dam State Park is the quietest and most remote park in Nevada. Perfect for those seeking solitude and rugged wilderness, the park features deep canyons, dramatic outcroppings, juniper, pinyon and ponderosa pine forests, streams, and waterfalls. Visitors can enjoy hiking, picnicking, fishing, and wildlife watching. The park is home to extensive wildlife, including the namesake beavers, along with mule deer, coyotes, bobcats, jackrabbits, porcupines, lizards, snakes, and birds. Two developed and one primitive campground let visitors stay and enjoy the rustic beauty longer, and include picnic tables, fire pits, and vault toilets.
Notable campgrounds
- Best for views: Campground A is right next to the Interpretive Trail which leads to a scenic overlook.
- Best for light travelers: A walk-in campground is available near the Beaver Dam Wash Trail and Waterfall Trail.
- Best for groups: One group area in Campground B offers space for groups to overnight, and can be reserved in advance by calling the park.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- Arrive early in the day, especially during peak periods, since all campsites are first-come first-served.
- If your travel plans are flexible, try visiting during the week and during off-peak and non-holiday times.
- If you’re traveling with a group, you can reserve the group area in Campground B by calling the park.
When to go
The park can be visited year-round. Summers are warm and thunderstorms can be common in July and August. Spring and fall offer the most pleasant weather for outdoor activiti4es. Although the campground is open year-round, drinking water is only available from April through November. Visitor services are available from May to October. Winter snowfall can be extensive, which limits access.
Know before you go
- Access is via a 28-mile unpaved dirt and gravel road. Most vehicles should be able to make it during dry weather, though a 4WD vehicle with high clearance is ideal.
- Electric power and landline phone service are not available inside the park. There is only limited cell reception at the park’s north entrance.
- Don’t forget your binoculars; the park is a designated Watchable Wildlife Area.
- A Nevada fishing license is required for anyone 12 and over, and must be purchased outside the park.
- Pets are welcome but must be kept on a six feet leash.
- There is no trash disposal in the park. Visitors must pack all their trash out.
